We had the special New Year’s menu and it was really delicious. Although the restaurant was super busy the pacing of the meal was really well done we had a very enjoyable evening.

Chinese New Years menu. All though servers were pleasant they were not particularly attentive. Many of the items were not hot when served and presentation was sloppy. Our table for four people was tiny and my chair was constantly bumped by servers or patrons as they passes by. I have always enjoyed this restaurant but this was not a great dining experience .

My husband and I frequent and love this place. The food and service is always wonderful. The food is consistently good while the servers are always caring with a smile. It may be a bit pricey, but it is worth it for consistently good food (ample portions) and attentive service. Make a reservation, you won't regret it!!

In a city of a million restaurants Shun Lee is one of the greats. The service is attentive, and truly flexible in helping you design a meal for everyone at the table. We went with our adult children, 6 of us all tastes accommodated at the advise of our fabulous wait staff
Peking duck, shrimp in a delicious sauce, giant fresh crispy noodles, string-beans with a touch of garlic were out of this world delicious. Festive atmosphere, cross between elegant and New York cool.

The decor was very dated, as if the restaurant was stuck in time in 1975. Service was mediocre. The wonton soup was bland and tasteless. Entrees were between $30 and $60 yet they only have us a tiny bowl of rice. We had 3 different dishes and all were overly sweet and oily. Truly not as good as local strip mall Chinese that cost a fraction of the price.

If you want to feel like you’re back in 1975 and eat unhealthy mediocre food and don’t mind spending $75 per person then Shun Lee Palace is for you.

Remarkably consistent, in the best ways. Just because it has been in existence for so long people may think the food is not "real" Chinese - but they are dead wrong. We have never had other than an excellent dinner and it is one of the few remaining NYC restaurants where one can have a conversation without screaming over the other dinners. Totally professional.

Every year for many years Shun Lee has had shredded duck on the restaurant week menu, and lychees for dessert. This year for the first time neither was available except on the regular menu. Particularly without the duck, it is no longer worth it to go there for restaurant week.

I was there with my girlfriend Nancy for Restaurant Week
We orderd the same first course
Soupy Dumplings and a Shrimp Ball
We wanted to order more, that's how delicious they were.
Next courses we shared was
Shredded Crispy Beef and Shrimp
In a garlic sauce
For dessert was Chocolate ice cream and Tiramisu
The experience was great I enjoyed the night with my Nancy and all the wonderful food.
I would recommend this restaurant very highly to all.
Pricing but well worth it.

I had been to this restaurants many times as a kid and young adult. It was a favorite of my parents. I decided to go back again to celebrate my daughter’s admission to law school. What a mistake. While the food remains too notch,the service and the ambiance are aptly lacking. We were ignored for 15 minutes while we tried to get a drink, our plates were cleared one at a time with a many minutes lag between - last I checked quality restaurants clear when everyone is done with their meal - and the bathroom of two stalls had one clogged and the sink a mess of water, towels and who knows what. What a disappointment. I had take my family’s my there to celebrate a big event and to have my daughters experience a restaurant from my childhood. I would not repeat it. It’s a has been that needs a severe overhaul.

The food is excellent but pricey. Waitstaff seems to have mellowed which is good since they are usually quite condescending. However we stayed and chatted while there was only one other occupied table but the staff kept staring for us to leave. The prawns are delicious so every once in a while I overlook the lunacy of their behavior and prices.

I ordered the grand marnier prawns and a mai tai. Bothe were terrible. Food was disgusting and drink was bitter. Management did nothing about my complaint. Not worth the cab fare or price. It's expensive too.

The food is very god and comes in large quantities (except the dumplings which are excellent but come in a very small portion). The service is impeccable.

This is a nice, if somewhat pricey, option for an up market Chinese meal.

As always, Shun Lee Palace (Eastside) offers quality food, served beautifully and efficiently by a friendly staff. Don't worry about following the Captain's suggestions -they are generally very good. The menu never seems to change, but that's OK as long as you like the mainstays, including Peking Duck, Fresh Seafood in a Bird's Nest and the wonderful starter, Shanghai Soup Dumplings. We were even surprised by the relative reasonableness of the bill, considering the quality of the food and location of the restaurant (high rent district).
