Shumi Omakase Plano
As soon as you step into Shumi, you will see the expansive open bar and get a sense of the refreshing atmosphere. The simplistic, modern aesthetic pairs perfectly with the artisan sushi and refined Japanese specialties.
Come and experience the art of traditional sushi making with us. Shumi Japanese Cuisine is located at 7161 Bishop Road, Plano, Texas.
Fantastic sushi and the service was outstanding as well. There were for of us dining and we all agreed we will be back soon. Try any of the rolls that are seared. The flavoring is delicious. The albacore tuna naked in your mouth like butter.
Amazing omikasa (chefs choice). Fresh fish, innovative dishes, I’ll be back for more.
What an awesome experience having Omakase served by the executive chef and legend, himself! We were in awe by his knife skills and he made it a very special experience. You can really taste the difference due to the high quality, fresh ingredients.
Wonderful food and beautiful restaurant. Best sushi north of Dallas hands down. It was rather quiet the night we visited so the service was quick. Will be going back again.
Great sushi and wait staff willing to answer any questions. Want to go back to try the Omakase.
Food was decent. The servers were nice but slow and inattentive. I didn’t get a few of the items I ordered. My colleague and I had to repeatedly ask the server to refill our beverages.
I’m not sure they had their A Crew working. If they did, Shumi isn’t long for this world.
dinner price was very cheap. they had vegetarian option for my mother and teriyaki for my little one and sushi for me.my whole family had something to eat and was pleased, which is hard to find.
dropped by to grab a quick bite on a Friday and it was excellent.
Place was nice and foods were delicious. Highly recommend Salmon Potato Roll. It was very delicious.
NICE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SUSHI PLACE!
Great sushi place with fresh cut fish. Loved omakase~ definitely recommended!
Nice sushi place in Shop at Legacy! It's little hard to find the place. restaurant looks fresh and nice. Foods were delicious. Will come back for omakase
We came here for the first time for my husband's birthday. The service was very good (there weren't many other patrons there). We ordered from the regular menu- fried octopus, 12 pc assorted sushi, some a la cart sushi, and the spicy scallop roll. Everything was very good- the fish was dressed well, and the rice didn't fall apart. (For people who know what good sushi is, you know that each piece should be nicely bite sized, not portions so big they barely fit in your mouth). They also treated us to some sashimi on the house for my husband's birthday, and it was excellent. They brought him a small cake with candle which I am pretty sure was something like a Little Debbie cake, but it was a nice gesture. Price for quality is quite reasonable. Overall we were pleased and would return.
This was my second time going and I have had similar dining experience before but I do not feel like the Omakase was not up to par with others. I also feel like it was a bit over priced. I know sushi is expensive but I felt like it was on the higher end for mid grade sushi.
Don't come here! Both service and food are pretty bad here. First, we waited for almost 10 mins before someone finally came to our table. Second, the server is not professional at all. Since this is our first time here, he didn't proactively go over the menu and recommended us anything. Instead, we had to keep asking him. Ironically, that server seemed not have much clue for most of the time.
From food quality perspective, this is the worst in DFW area. The sashimi is pretty dry, especially the salmon. Sushi roll with eel on top is pretty salty. The fried tofu is very soggy.
Lastly, it was my husband's bday. They knew that as we brought gift. I also mentioned that when I made reservation. However, they forgot to serve us the bday dessert. How do I know? I saw they served to other tables with bday candle when we left.
Overall, this is the worst experience ever!
Great omakase experience but you have to be open minded about it if your experience with sushi is mostly centered around ordering fried rolls and what not.
Very good sushi but be warned the cuts if sashimi are small. Good but small.
Nothing special. Over priced for quality provided.
Servers didn't know what they were doing. 3-course dinner with sushi came the first then chawamushi then miso soup. Another 2-course dinner after eating the sushi salad wasn't even there. Server was trying to tell us what fish each sushi was and she couldn't even memorize them. Fish on sushi was poorly cut, and some were even broken in half. The place is also unreasonably priced. The 3-course dinner with miso soup, tiny chawamushi (with carrots all over the top), and 7 pieces of sushi cost $40. All four of us left without feeling full and one of us even had stomachache after leaving. Worst Japanese restaurant in a long time.
Went for my husband’s birthday. My husband got the “special” omakase. Unfortunately, it was not a true omakase experience where as the chef creates a customized menu per the customer’s pallet. The sushi chosen for omakase was a standardized menu given to everybody and built more as a tasting menu of all different fish. There were saucy “toppings” for many of the sushi which tend to overpower the flavor of the fish which was also a streamlined add on for everybody. It’s a good concept but it can definitely improve. Hopefully they will with time!
Has a corporate feel. Poor quality service. The quality of the sushi was poor. There are many better options.
Try the Bluefin Tuna Tartare and Salmon Sashimi Pizza
We have the special Omakase which was amazing! Never had tuna that was so good. Not even in Tokyo! Every piece of sushi was like a journey with different textures and tastes. Look at the chef’s secret sauces on the side of him. Will come again for sure!
Amazing!! 5 Stars!! Excellent Customer Service and The food! Super Yummy!
Best experience ever! Absolutely amazing staff and phenomenal food!
Always high quality fish. Best rice in town hands down.
I came with co-worker who told me that I won't regret the visit. Well, he was right! foods were delicious and lunch price was really cheap for sushi restaurant. it seemed that they need more staffs. During lunch time, I only saw manager and one waitress. she provided outstanding service, but I hope the restaurant will get more staffs. Great find!
It is nice to find a sushi restaurant that has a quality and delicious foods. Specially, I was really surprised with fish quality. Will come back for more. see you soon
Loved this place. Easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a while. It was a bit pricey but you get a lot with your order. Staff and service was top notch!
We loved eating at Shumi Omakase. Master Chef Aikasa served us - we had the special omakase and it was amazing! Every dish / piece of sushi brought an interesting (and delicious) new flavor. Everything just worked - I absolutely recommend eating here!
Great services and great food. Lunch special has great price!!!
Great new place in Shops at Legacy! Food is very fresh and delicious, one of our favorite date night spots. We tried several appetizers, sushi we enjoyed it all. Would highly recommend.
I love this place. Decided to check out this place after reading so many positive reviews. I gotta say the quality of the sushi rivals that of some of my favorite places in Dallas. Particularly enjoyed the their chef special roll and shumi signature roll. So much flavor, who needs soy sauce? Not this gal. Cannot wait to go back.
Decided to try this place for Dinner today. I chose the Spicy Tuna Roll and Shumi Roll. Excellent! Hands down the best sushi I’ve tried around Plano. The food was fresh and tasty and the restaurant was clean. My friend went with the beef teriyaki box. It looked awesome and tasted even better. Will definitely be trying this place out again because the menu looks STACKED!
The food, service, location, environment are great!! We experienced many different dinner plates and sushi rolls... all was extraordinary.... and of course, we had a delicious sake which recommended by our server. Thanks to our server Herny! and see you soon.
It had been a while since I had really good Japanese food. The restaurant has a wonderful Japanese touch and modern ambience. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu has plenty of choice with the prices being very fair given the quality of the food. We tried the eel, rolls, sashimi, nigiri, washed down with some fine Japanese beer, Sapporo. All very delicious, well prepared and presented. Fantastic!
Simply the best authentic Japanese restaurant in Plano! I have taken several Japanese colleagues, expatriates and customers to this restaurant...always top notch, very attentive service and delicious food choices to experience numerous Japanese dishes. Highly recommended!
I always enjoy this place! Never been let down! I recommend people here all the time!
Absolutely the best servers and customer care. The food was great! Recommended!
