Food was very good. They were able to seat us early! TY
The food was good, but a bit light on seafood options for a restaurant called “Showfish”. The waitstaff was attentive as well. The overall ambiance was like sitting in a mid-priced hotel lobby, which you basically are. If you are staying at the hotel, a fine choice for a meal. If you are staying anywhere else in Newport, definitely not worth the trip over the causeway to Goat Island.
Great experience. All food was delicious. We had the hot and cold Caesar, octopus,
Decent place to have date night. Will definitely go back again and recommended to friend.
Such a great menu.
Excellent service. Loved our waiter Srdan, he was attentive, informative, and very knowledgeable about the food and pairings. The food was amazing. The ambiance and atmosphere was quiet and cozy. A memorable Valentines dinner for sure!!
Highly recommend.
Great experience. I loved the Hot & Cold Caesar salad. Our server was outstanding and he made the biggest impact. Excellent!
Server wasn’t attentive, but after we put our order and got our food. We forgot about her poor service. Food was delicious.
The cauliflower steak was highly recommended so two people at my table decided to order it. I tried it and it was barely edible. It was completely undercooked, with absolutely no flavor (Not even salt). My boyfriend who was one of the two that ordered it was completely disappointed and he’s a chef... I also indicated that it was my birthday and received nothing to make my dinner there special. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to Showfish.
LOVED! Great food, drinks, wine list, service and view! Definitely will be going back.
Don’t bother making a reservation, because they won’t honor them. I made a reservation for the fire pit. We get there and were told by the hostess that the fire pit was full. Unsure of what the point was in even making a reservation if they aren’t going to adhere to it? We were not given the option to wait for them to open, so we reluctantly sat inside. The hostess later sat another table SO close to us, definitely not following COVID guidelines, when there were so many other tables open. Overall, a bad experience.
Excellent food. Octopus was amazing. Salmon was best ever. Great service.
Trendy vibe, really good food (octopus, tuna, salmon, short rib). Some fun cocktail choices. Not usually a bread person but theirs were exceptional, especially when served with honey butter! Really nice, attentive waiter. Overall, great meal. Igloos outside look fun and multiple fire pits outside are inviting.
Food and service were amazing. A little on the pricy side.
Absolutely beautiful dining experience. We were lucky enough to get an igloo on the patio, the food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Great way to enjoy a birthday or special celebration!
Delicious, tables separated, friendly waiter, accomodating.
Everything was great. Food and cocktails were excellent
The ambience was great as well as the service. The food..not so much. I
Food was average and way overpriced. The service was very good but did not make up for the underwhelming food.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Server was very nice and attentive. One of the best parts of our trip!
Do not recommend. Both food and drinks were below average. Had to send our drinks back because they were that bad.
The food was absolutely delicious and our waitress was absolutely delightful. Really truly I was so impressed with the flavor in the taste of the food the most
The food was good, but we had a poor service experience. No one was in the restaurant & the waiter (who was also bartender) was inattentive, food took a long time, our order had issues, & over all for the cost of the dinner/quality of restaurant it was not worth it & I would probably go back for drinks but there’s better places to eat for value/price/quality.
Excellent service
Service, menu selection and food preparation were very good, but prices are extremely high...... New York prices
Our server was outstanding! He was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent recommendations.
Initial wait to order was longer than necessary, but from that point on the food, presentation, and service were impeccable. Restaurant Week menu offered something for everyone. My calamari appetizer was honestly the best I've ever eaten, and fortunately I had enough of the salmon entree for lunch leftovers the next day. The tiramisu, accompanied by a carefully brewed cup of coffee, was a sweet ending to dinner. Toward the end of our meal, the background music got louder, which concerned me because that tends to cause diners to speak louder, and spreading droplets is not the goal when dining indoors! It was nice to see that there was an option to eat in an "igloo" outside. We'll be back again!
First time at Showfish, taking advantage of Newport Restaurant Week. Very good and well done in this crazy COVID environment we are in currently!
Great food! Awesome ambiance with views of the Newport bridge! Servers very friendly and attentive! Bread was amazing too!!
The filet was cooked so perfect! Literally best steak I’ve had in a very long time!
Waiter got the order wrong, probably the worst coffee I’ve had in the restaurant and the fried rice was old it looked like they used the rice from the bottom of the pan you know the burnt part. Waste of money.
Fire pits were great. Service was fantastic as was the food!
We booked a table outside for birthday drinks and were told outside was full even though we had a reservation for outside specifically.
The place was poorly run and unorganized and they were not apologetic or attempt to make it right in any way. Our server was nice and did what he could but overall it was a bad experience.
We went Saturday. 70 degrees. Had reservation seated on wet cushions. Waited 20 minutes and no one came over to take a drink. We walked out. In addition, they allowed 3 dogs into the restaurant that were above 50 pounds one of which was a pit bull.
Another nice adventure. Slow food delivery unfortunately.
This was a negative, non-covid friendly experience. The restaurant would not accommodate us outside after stating that they would. We reserved outdoor seating when booking the original reservation and confirmed that we would only sit outside when they called us to confirm the reservation the day before so they should have been able to seat us. Very surprised that a nice hotel like Gurneys would allow a restaurant pop up, in a time like this, that doesn’t meet the needs of the time. VERY DISAPPOINTING! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Please accept my apologies as for this I am very surprised we were not able to accommodate a confirmed reservation outside unless weather was a factor. May I request a chance to talk more with you regarding the circumstances regarding your reservation. My contact information is below as I look forward to talking with you soon so we may make this right. David Smiley General Manager david.smiley@gurneysresorts
A nice place to have a Sunday dinner; food and service were excellent!!!!
Apps, entres, sides and desert were superb. Great new addition to Newport dining options.
We had a reservation for 2 at the fire pits for 830pm, was seated at 850, the fire pit area was beautiful, great ambience. That is the best think I can say about this place. At 930 a waiter still hadn’t stopped by to see us. I flagged down a gentleman that was floating about who ended up being a manager. He apologized and said he would send our waiter, Elvis, over immediately. 15 minutes goes by, still no waiter. The same manager walks by again and says “your waiter has been over right?” When we replied he had not, he took a drink order for us and apologized. 15 minutes later another man comes over to drop off our cocktails. He never introduces himself, just drops the drinks off and says “need anything else?”. When I inquired if he was our waiter he replied “yeah”. Never introduced himself, never asked if we had questions about the menu, offered us water....nothing. At this point we should have left, but it was after 945 and we were starved. We put our order in and it arrived about 25 min later, again we were never offered another drink or checked on. Now, onto the food, my date ordered rigatoni he immediately said “the noodles aren’t cooked” after he tried it. I kinda doubted him, because how can you not cook pasta properly in what is supposed to be a 5star establishment. Alas, he was correct, the noodles were not “al dente”, they were in fact raw and mostly inedible. I ordered the pork belly appetizer, and I have no complaints, it was well done. Also ordered the lobster and kimchi fried rice. The fried rice was crispy, not at all what I expected, and the texture was a bit off putting, but overall tasty. I flagged down the manager to tell him the rigatoni wasn’t cooked and he offered to take it back and remake it. We declined since it was now after 10 and was about 40 degrees out. He graciously removed it from our bill. 30 min later the elusive Elvis showed up to drop off our check, never apologizing for the food or the service issues. Don’t waste your time here!
Our waiter was amazing. We were not rushed and the cocktails were superb.
