If you haven’t been to Shoemaker’s lately, I’d make a reservation. Chef and staff did an awesome job. We had salads and the filet. Folks - the presentation was incredible and the food was delicious. I heard afterwards a story about some MasterChef training happening and those skills certainly were evident last night. Great job!

We went to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated right up against the host/server stand so we had no privacy of conversation for most of our night. We were never offered bread although we noticed other tables being served bread- would have asked for some but we were well into our meal when we noticed. The crab cakes were amazing, but the salmon seemed overdone and tiger prawn was very tough/chewy. Dessert was pretty good. For the price and based on past experience at this restaurant, we were disappointed.

Wait staff was slow and mis-quoted the prices for my steak. My steak was well done, not medium but the flavor and the tenderness were good. My wife got the special, the waitress did not describe it correctly so my wife ended up getting something she didn’t like at all.

We have been to Shoemakers a handful of times for the last 10 years. This unfortunately was not the best experience. My husband and I were shocked to see how expensive our dinner was. It was never this expensive in the past. Additionally our steaks were under cooked and did not feel the menu had as many options as it once had. We were very disappointed this time.

Best experience I’ve had at Shoemaker’s. I read they have a new chef and he is amazing! I am Greek and i must say I’ve eaten a lot of lamb shank over the years, and i had my best ever last night! The drinks were delicious as well! I’ll be back to stay at Craddock Terry and I’ll be back for that lamb soon! My coworkers both said they each had the best steak of their life as well, one the filet and the other the ribeye. So, they really hit it out of the park!

No shrimp cocktail. Place closes way too early. Only 2 steaks offered on menu. Onion soup was very vinagery. Waitress was good. Bartender was good.

We went light and family style. Crab cake starters were excellent. Mocktails were fun; try the Lazy Sunset. Crispy Brussels are best in town. We tried the duck salad for something different. Carrot cake and chocolate mousse to top off a delicious meal for two.

First time to Shoemakers in probably a year. Was disappointed to see how much the menu had shrunk since the last time we ate there. Only 2 beef options for entrees, where in the past they offered NY Strip, 2 sizes of Filet, Ribeye, & Prime Rib. Some of our favorite appetizers were no longer on the menu either and for the sides there was no option to get mushrooms to go with the steak. Food we did order was very good and the service was excellent. That said, with inflation from the past 3 years, $250 for 2 people for 2 Salads, 2 entrees, 1 shared side, 1 mixed drink & 1 glass of wine each and 2 desserts, plus tip seems a little high for Lynchburg VA.

Visiting in Lynchburg and found this restaurant on open table. Very good variety of food, good drinks and good atmosphere. The location of the restaurant is very neat as well. Good choice!

We have come to Shoemaker's previously over the past year and have been very happy. Yesterday was completely awful. There were zero accommodations for allergies whatsoever. My daughter's expensive filet mignon came out on a plain plate, ridiculously overcooked and it was sent back. She watched me eat my entire meal while waiting for food to come back from the kitchen. When I spoke to the manager, she told me that the chef had "a seasonal menu" that changes regularly and that is why they couldn't accommodate her allergies. As a mother of an athlete who needs carbs, this is totally unacceptable for a restaurant to charge what they charge and not provide enough choices for diners. Needless to say, we will NOT be back and I caution anyone with any dietary restrictions to choose another option.

It was our 10th anniversary. The staff sprinkled our reserved table with flower pedals and gave us a champagne toast on the house. Our waitress was outstanding and very accommodating and the food came out very quickly! Overall we had a great time and felt very special. A+ service

Most everything was great, from the complementary bubbly in honor of our anniversary to the outstanding service... BUT... very limited menu, VERY LIMITED dessert menu (what fine restaurant doesn't offer ice cream???), and the MUSIC WAS TERRIBLE! Relentless jazz sax mixed with some piano with the same driving beat... PLEASE go back to the standards -- Sinatra, Como, Martin, June Christie -- nice, relaxing music befitting a fine dining venue.

When I made the reservation, I put in it was our anniversary. When we checked in with host, she wished us a happy anniversary. The service was great and the food was soooo good. The Chef even came to table and asked how it was. When I said the wedge salad was so crisp, He said they grow their own lettuce.

We've have gone to Shoemaker's several times for special occasions. Normally we've enjoyed our time there. Not as much this time. The menu was very limited to just a few items (seemed to be different than in the past). The food we ordered was just ok. The seafood raviolo was basically just pasta and tomato sauce. There was hardly any seafood in the pasta. I could have made it more flavorful at home. If there are just 4-6 items to order, they should be superb. The steak was good that my wife ordered. Also, the service was very slow. Several tables that arrived after us got their food first even though we'd ordered first. We only ordered main dishes, but the time between when we arrived, water, ordering, food, checks, receipts was very long. We were there 1.5 hours total for what was really just a basic meal. Much poorer overall than past experiences, and I doubt we'll come back for how expensive it is.

The atmosphere and especially the service was outstanding. My food was very good as well. It may have been the best Rib Eye steak I have ever had. The downfall was when we got the bill and that steak was $58. If it had come with any sides at all, maybe I wouldn't have been so shocked but for a steak alone, that was not what I was thinking Market Value would be.

Service and atmosphere were great. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. However, the majority of our food was subpar. My salmon was hammered! Way overdone. Foie gras was prepared in very small coins on a tart with so much filling no foie gras could be tasted. My husband's ribeye was very thin - especially for $58 which did not include any side dishes - but it was prepared med rare as requested and he said it was tasty. We wouldn't visit again.

very slow service had to ask for refill on water several times got two old fashion drinks first was ok but the second not good at all would not order another. I had filet mignon over cooked. Wife had fish too many bones.

Greatly overrated. It took 1 1/2 hours to receive our order. Wifes fish was barely warm. When we ordered there were several open tables, was not busy. Steak was poorly trimmed, at least 1/3 was fat. On top of that meal was exceptionally expensive for the food quality.

The waitress was attentive to our needs, offered us a complimentary celebratory drink on her, and knowledgeable of the food selections. The steak had NO flavor! Very disappointing. The Maitre D hesitantly came to our table to inquire of our satisfaction, I almost questioned IF he was going to come after skipping our table. For the cost, the portion of shareable was not a value. Years ago I visited this restaurant and the food was worth every penny, not so much this time. A bit disappointed 😞. Our waitress was good.

Cute place and we had a good waitress but our meals were underwhelming for what we paid. Extremely fatty rack of lamb and dry chicken with flavorless potatoes. Had high hopes for this place based on prior reviews but we would not come back nor recommend.
