About Shiro Restaurant
Restaurant Shiro has been named the Zagat Guide's number one restaurant and is consistently one of the highest rated establishments in the guide (#5 in 2011; #2 for service in 2013). Shiro is summed up by it's ingredients. Menu items are driven by the best available, nothing less is acceptable. Year in and year out, for over 25 years, diners have enjoyed our French and Pacific Rim inspired menu. A tradition of fine dining with excellent, friendly service. Most Wednesdays we supplment our menu with a special Taste of Shiro (soup or salad, meat or fish, dessert). Th-Sun, we also provide a Chef's Tasting Menu.

Shiro Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Shiro Restaurant is our current favorite restaurant in South Pasadena.
It is located close to where we live - just 15 minutes away by car.
We love the ambience, the wait staff, food choices and especially the most accommodating matre 'D, Cheryl.
We highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy all of the above amenities. You won't be disappointed.
I hadn't been to Shiro's in some time and it used to hard to get a reservation. Last Thursday
getting a reservation was easy and it was not at all crowded, I'm not sure why. I can't go often because driving from Pacific Palisades, where I live, to Pasadena, is just too hard; thursday it took almost two hours and I was meeting my granddaughter there. But the food is as outstanding as ever--superb duck, great ravioli appetizer, fine chocolate cake for dessert.
Expensive but worth it. My only wish is that Shiro would move to the West Side, down the street! We have nothing in Santa Monica or Brentwood that can compare to it!!
Dinner was wonderful. We started with 2 special appetizers: artichoke salad $15 and truffle ravioli $24. I thought it a little expensive for 4 ravioli, but absolutely delicious. This was followed with mains of scallops and loup de mer, again delicious! The service was top notch, music was perfect, table was perfect... We will return.
We had the truffle ravioli appetizer, anchovy tempura, and the ribeye from the regular menu. All excellent and the ribeye was so soft and delicious! From the Dine LA menu, we had the spicy tuna tacos, scallops and salmo, all very good as well. The Apple tart dessert was the best, chocolate tart was just OK. Will definitely come back!
My son and I were celebrating my Birthday. This was our first visit. Loved it. The hostess was very welcoming - the service was excellent and the food superb. Even though there was music in the background and people were talking, you could have a soft spoken conversation with the person you were with. We will be returning. A Lovely evening.
Showed up to restaurant early after golf outing to have a drink and wait for friends. No bar so asked to be seated early received an odd look from hostess. And I guess we were seated reluctantly. So we sat and ordered drinks and waited for friend ordered and as usual food was superb. The Shrimp dumpling with mushroom yummy. The Pork tenderloin beautifully prepared just classics.
First if all, the service is impecable. All of the staff is just excellent. The tables are well spaced and the ceilings are very high, which means, even when it is full you can have a quiet dining experience.
The food is excellent. A little pricey- but excellent. It is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere.
Loved my experience at this restaurant . The employees were amazing. Very attentive and super genuine. The food was delicious as well. The best thing I ordered was the Ponzu Catfish. Would come back again definitely for a date night or girls night out again !
Although the food was excellent, because it was New Year's Eve special, the options were limited, and the 3 course meal was overpriced. What would have normally been about $60, was $150. We did enjoy the jazz music, and don't know if they were regulars or a special for New Year's Eve. Oysters were especially good. Seafood plate was good, but small in quantity (2 shrimp, 2 scallops, and 2 very small pieces of lobster). Will be back on a normal night to hopefully enjoy the good food at a lower price and smaller crowd.
I have always loved this restaurant. Although I have never had the catfish, for which they are famous, there are SO MANY other wonderful treats that will tempt your palette. You can bring your own bottles of wine for a $20 corkage. BUT! They do the most amazing "Cosmo". All around it is an amazing dinner and Kerry is the best wait person.
