Food was very delicious-every bite!!
Wonderful Birthday experience with my wife.
Shiro is by far my very favorit restaurant! Alway exseptionally good! Yael Lir
Shiro's food is amazing! The menu changes daily and their specials are very creative and tasty. I was there years ago and remember how the popular catfish entree was amazing.
I ordered the catfish again and several appetizers. All great!
Fine dining with a neighborhood feel
The Wednesday prix fix menu looked great and an excellent value, but I had my heart set on the whole catfish, which was delicious. . We were celebrating an anniversary, and the hostess brought us a complimentary dessert wine at the end of the meal.
I've been there twice in a year and the menu is always the same. Mostly seafood and if you want a change, not much to choose from. Otherwise, the food is prepared to perfection and the service is friendly and good.
Practically since the day it opened, this has been our favorite restaurant. The menu has retained the original favorites enlivened with scrumptious specials. The staff is highly trained, providing excellent but unobtrusive service. When we were there on a Saturday evening there wasn't an empty table--with good reason.
Shiro has remained one of the very best restaurants in the LA area for the 30 years I've been going there. I especially like the chef's tasting menu, which hits a lot more home runs than singles. It's a long drive for me, so it has to be good.
We have been Shuri devotees for over a decade and are never disappointed. The ambience is elegant yet friendly, the food refined but not fussy. We enjoy the service and overall experience on each and every occasion we have at Shiro’s- it’s a neighborhood gem.
My wife and I go back to Shiro because we love the food the friendly atmosphere. If you want a truly great meal this is it
Shiro Restaurant is our current favorite restaurant in South Pasadena.
It is located close to where we live - just 15 minutes away by car.
We love the ambience, the wait staff, food choices and especially the most accommodating matre 'D, Cheryl.
We highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy all of the above amenities. You won't be disappointed.
It's always a special treat to eat here! Food is consistently delicious and you always feel welcomed. We have been coming here for almost 30 years. In my book, this is where Asian-Fusion cuisine was born and still thrives.
I hadn't been to Shiro's in some time and it used to hard to get a reservation. Last Thursday
getting a reservation was easy and it was not at all crowded, I'm not sure why. I can't go often because driving from Pacific Palisades, where I live, to Pasadena, is just too hard; thursday it took almost two hours and I was meeting my granddaughter there. But the food is as outstanding as ever--superb duck, great ravioli appetizer, fine chocolate cake for dessert.
Expensive but worth it. My only wish is that Shiro would move to the West Side, down the street! We have nothing in Santa Monica or Brentwood that can compare to it!!
A great restaurant year after year. Have not been there for awhile, was pleased to see the food quality is still outstanding, even made the 1.5 hour drive through traffic worth it.
Mushroom ravioli is excellent. Get extra bread to get the sauce. I know their signature whole catfish is popular, but I prefer other items on their menu.
It is not a large restaurant and some of the table are close together, but it is nice place for a special occasion.
Shiro was wonderful, as always. We had to wait nearly 1/2 hour past our reservation time for our table, but this was Valentine's Day and the restaurant was understandably busy.
I dined at Shiro for Valentine’s day dinner.
Thank you for placing us right in front of the jazz band!! Truly a memorable night!
Dinner was wonderful. We started with 2 special appetizers: artichoke salad $15 and truffle ravioli $24. I thought it a little expensive for 4 ravioli, but absolutely delicious. This was followed with mains of scallops and loup de mer, again delicious! The service was top notch, music was perfect, table was perfect... We will return.
Excellent food and service. Will go back and recommend for anyone that’s appreciates food to go.
This restaurant used to be good but seems to have lost its chef. Completely mediocre food. Wait-staff overly zealous. We felt rushed out of there which was inexplicable as the restaurant was half-empty.
Both my wife and I had fish. I had the deep fried catfish and my wife had the John Dory. Both were Perfectly prepared! The entire staff was very friendly and efficient.
We had the truffle ravioli appetizer, anchovy tempura, and the ribeye from the regular menu. All excellent and the ribeye was so soft and delicious! From the Dine LA menu, we had the spicy tuna tacos, scallops and salmo, all very good as well. The Apple tart dessert was the best, chocolate tart was just OK. Will definitely come back!
Our meals were all delicious! Had the 3lb catfish and was not disappointed. Also had dineLA menu and scallops and salmon tartare tacos were very tasty! Would return again for sure!
One of our favorite restaurants. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and it was pretty much a perfect evening. Food, service and atmosphere were top notch.
My favorite restaurant. Been going for at least 20 years. Always fabulous food, great service and very quiet.
My son and I were celebrating my Birthday. This was our first visit. Loved it. The hostess was very welcoming - the service was excellent and the food superb. Even though there was music in the background and people were talking, you could have a soft spoken conversation with the person you were with. We will be returning. A Lovely evening.
Good food, pleasant ambiance, good service. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Showed up to restaurant early after golf outing to have a drink and wait for friends. No bar so asked to be seated early received an odd look from hostess. And I guess we were seated reluctantly. So we sat and ordered drinks and waited for friend ordered and as usual food was superb. The Shrimp dumpling with mushroom yummy. The Pork tenderloin beautifully prepared just classics.
thought overall just ok, nothing special...not bad.
We house a friend get together party. Every dish was complimented by the guest. Wonderful place to be.
First if all, the service is impecable. All of the staff is just excellent. The tables are well spaced and the ceilings are very high, which means, even when it is full you can have a quiet dining experience.
The food is excellent. A little pricey- but excellent. It is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere.
Amazing staff and service! Came here with a friend for DineLA amd had a great experience. Our waiter was very friendly and provided great recommendations.
We always have a great time with great food and service at Shiro! It is our go-to neighborhood place for fine dining!
We loved Shiro! The manager and wait staff could not have been nicer, more attentive or more welcoming! The food was great and their Dine LA menu was a terrific value. We can't wait to go back!
Catfish was excellent. Service good. Clearly popular restaurant. Even when more than 1/2 full quite loud and hard to have a conversation.
Would reco. Will go back
Loved my experience at this restaurant . The employees were amazing. Very attentive and super genuine. The food was delicious as well. The best thing I ordered was the Ponzu Catfish. Would come back again definitely for a date night or girls night out again !
just a wonderful neighbor restaurant. so welcoming and comfortable.
Appetizer The shrimp lightly fried was outstanding
Rombauer wine price excellent
Shiro is the neighborhood restaurant that every neighborhood wishes it had: refined dining, prompt and friendly service, and an atmosphere of calm and quiet conducive to civilized conversation.
