El Ships Inn Restaurant ofrece una de las mejores experiencias gastronómicas de Nantucket. El restaurante se ubica en un histórico edificio que data de 1831 y solía ser la gran mansión de un capitán ballenero, y cuenta con un salón comedor y lounge subterráneos con un ambiente colonial pero moderno. Be sure to have dinner here and make sure you pre order the souffle if it’s on the menu. The ambience and service also top notch!!

Ship's Inn is one of the few places today, on Nantucket or elsewhere, that features the formality of a fine-dining restaurant, complete with white tablecloths, flowers, bread service, and a formal waitstaff. It is housed in the basement of an inn, but if you're conjuring up a vision of a dark, pub-like atmosphere, think again. The walls, ceilings, pipes, etc. have been painted bright white, and there is beautiful original artwork on the walls. if you are lucky enough to be seated by a window, you will be treated to a view of the flower garden outside. You can see that much planning has gone into providing you with an elegant experience--right down to how the bread is artfully wrapped in a napkin in the breadbasket. Hours are limited now, so do make a reservation. Tables are pretty close together in the area near the restaurant's entrance, so it can get noisy there. I don't mind that, though, as it's a lovely place to sit. Bob (the Maitre'd) and Melissa are veterans here and always welcoming. There is apparently some AC, but not everywhere, so it can be hot in August. When we dined there in early June, the temperature was pleasant, aided by big windows that were open. The bar is also charming, but there is dining room beyond the bar that I recall is not as nice as the other 2 areas on the other side of the bar, but I haven't been seated there in years, and I have not found complaints about it among the reviews. Food and wine are excellent, though I did not enjoy the veal as much as I have other entrees. I always have the clam appetizer. My husband had the special lobster and polenta appetizer, which he raved about. He also enjoyed his steak frites.

One of the best restaurants on Nantucket. Consistently very good, year after year. Chef Mark has been there for a while and is excellent. Very quaint setting and wonderful staff. Bob greets you with a pleasant smile and directs you to your table and visits with diners to make sure everything is going well. We return every year. Thank you.

Perhaps the best meal I've had on Nantucket in 40-years! A "local" told us about it and it was fantastic.

The service and ambiance were great. The presentation of the food was good, however the food was average. The food lacked the nuances of flavor of creative food. The halibut had excellent texture but lacked flavor, as did the risotto and puree served with it. The craft cocktails were excellent, as were the two souffles.
