When we came up with the concept of Shinsei we wanted a place that reflected our lifestyles: sometimes we went out to dinner with our kids and sometimes with our friends and husbands. We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal.

But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Our signature poppers, for instance, are a sophisticated mix of late night bar food and sumptuous finger food with a distinctly Asian flair.

    Delicious food like the garlic pork potstickers, braised pork steam buns, beef ribs, and sashimi: Lynae's and the Demesy. The staff was accommodating and gave great recommendations.

    Good evening, we always are comfortable. Last eve, I tried the halibut. It was unusually delicious. We both enjoyed an unexpected week night meal. Tammy, Savannah, everyone makes an evening out, exceptional.

    We are regulars. This place never seems to disappoint. Ribs to die for. Their sushi roll is incredible and I don’t even like sushi.

    Hands down my favorite Sushi restaurant in Dallas. I'll forget about it for a while, try other places, and then when I go back I always wonder why I even bothered trying other places!

    As always Elvis was wonderful; the server forgot to turn our order in for chef’s choice for sushi and sashimi so it took a while, but Elvis made up for it!

    From the moment we walked in the service was excellent. Our server, Shara, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made many great recommendations. We were introduced to many new items thanks to her.

    Great experience, downstairs bar area is a little louder and upstairs seemed to be more relaxed. Wish I remembered waitresses name but she was awesome with recommendations and service. Will be back

    Morgan was great, she knew menu well. Sushimi fresh and unusual presentation. “Elvis” reference will be obvious. Brussel sprouts (!!) great as was shrimp dim sum. Toro disappointed but still melt in mouth texture. Must have reserva or go after 8, parking blows.

    It was my first time here for a girls dinner/ bday and it was amazing! We got tons of small plates, rolls and bites to share among 4 women and left very full! The quality of the fish is incredible! Our server Tammy was so great too!

    Fantastic. Amazing. Rare find in the DFW restaurant scene to have a jewel like this. Service was excellent. Timely but not overbearing. Food was fantastic with rare combinations My go to place now.

    Biggest problem was we were in patio area and the smell of cigarettes was so overwhelming. Was coming from restaurant next door. Ruined our meal, ruined our night!

    This was our first visit, but other family members have been enjoying dinners at ShinSei and encouraging us to go. We ordered a variety of small plates and entrées and everything was served perfectly. Service was polite, helpful and available but not intrusive at all. We look forward to another visit!

    This is the second time we have been seated in the back area behind the bar where there are only 8 tops. I get it if you’re a walk in and that’s all they have, but we did have a reservation. 4 people at a square 8 top is not conducive to converse, especially when you are seated in a small-ish room with other large parties of 8. We could hardly have a conversation and it’s an awkward seating arrangement. The server was overloaded with his tables and our experience was less than desirable. Won’t be back.

    We sat in the bar at a high-top. The server was attentive but not intrusive. The course pacing was correct. The drinks and food were very tasty and fresh. I will return again.
