It doesn’t get any better than this for Japanese Omakase. Worth every penny.
We really enjoyed the experience. The food was terrific. Service was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.
Shinbay is a truly creative culinary endeavor. It doesn't just try to go a good job with a conventionalized American idea of Japanese food. It has a freshness and realization equal to the freshest and best food you would find at high end kaiseki restaurants in Japan, but with it's own special and unique flair. I say this as an old "Japan hand" who has eaten in many of Japan's most famous and expensive restaurants over decades. Shinbay is truly a standout, and the fact that it's in Phoenix--and not New York or LA--makes it even more surprising.
It was a wonderful experience with outstanding food.
The level of the quality of food is still as good as it was in the previous location. However this reincarnation is overpriced. There is no choice on the level of Omakase you want to have. Maybe 2 or 3 tiers of Omakase should be offered. Also the wine list is rather limited and on the expensive side. I mean, over $600 for 2 people and you don’t get a desert course, you don’t get miso soup at the end, as it is custom in Japan after a sushi meal; you only get a a tiny shot of green tea. Apart from that, the nigiri offerings are diverse and taste good but nothing special for this kind of price. You only get 1 otoro nigiri. No other tuna, or toro sampling, be it in nigiri form or sashimi. Nothing exotic or reasonably innovative, I am sorry to say, but I had high hopes for this meal and I was let down. I’ve had much better, special Omakase meals for the same price point.
Worth it! Exceptional food, presentation and dining experience.
A dining experience. You have to be ready to just let it happen, and the outcome is a full belly and a happy disposition.
This was the most AMAZING dining experience that we will remember forever. The best kept secret. The food was amazing and sensational! The chef’s talent was such a treat to watch. Gracious does not even begin to describe how we feel being able to experience this!
Absolutely loved our evening at Shinbay.
This Omakase was suggested as a bucket list place to go and that suggestion was spot on. Each course was better than the one before. Watching Chef Kurita put each dish together with his sous chef was theatre and the result courses were just fantastic featured many different fish from mostly Japan but other places as well.
Highly recommended for a splurge occasion.
After I heard that only 4 people could be seated at 6pm and only 6 people at 8pm. The price was $185 a person before drinks and tip. I had to try it. I was great. Plenary of food. The wine pairing was perfect. Highly recommend.
A perfect meal!
Amazing meal! Great service and amazing food. Wonderful for a special occasion!
The most spectacular omakase in Arizona and easily can compete with New York. We get a a relative bargain here in the desert compared to other cities that have this level of Japanese food.
The most unique dining experience in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area
Amazing ... We loved every second of our experience
