Shin ka Gyuu
Half the things on the menu are not available and they only tell you after some of the food has arrived so that you cannot leave. They offered no replacements for the unavailable items.
Food was also disgusting and tasted store bought. Just a man in sweatpants who was grumpy the whole time putting together dishes.
Also, had the tuna avocado salad, they forgot the avocado at first and then I asked them to put it in. The next order, they put one tiny tiny piece of avocado in, passive agressive much?
Also they post so many fake reviews on Google, you can tell by the distribution of their reviews, lots of 5 star and lots of 1 star, a normal restaurant should have increments, not such a huge discrepancy.
Be lated Birthday Dinner with very good friends. The service was absolutely fabulous, local restaurants around Vancouver could learn something about service from the staff. Covid-19 protocol followed, clean restaurant and great central ventilation.
We will be back
Thanks for a great time! Great to see some specials but I visited during regular dinner hours.
Not like what it was before! Food takes forever to come and you only get 100 minutes for eating.
I went with my teenage son on a Tuesday lady‘s night and was able to enjoy 50% off for myself. With the discount I thought the meal was worth it. My son was charged regular price of 78/person. If judging with the regular price, I thought it was a little over priced for the quality of food. The sashimi was fresh and the meat was good. They also have a good selection of other appetizers, salads, sushi roll and desserts, I just found the quality and taste of the these items sub par. My son and I decided it was not really worth the money and will not return again.
Great for celebration! Very high quality food including Wagyu Beef , Fresh Sashimi, Aburi Sushi and so on with High-end atmospheric grade environment.
We celebrated kid's birthday there. The chef made a special cake for my daughter and lots of server sang a birthday song together with background music. We've heard they do it for everyone and we really enjoyed it. What a delightful experience！
Amazing service and food quality is awesome as well
Very fantastic dining experience. Good food and good service.
Loved it. The sashimi was the best. The different waygu was great but honestly couldn't tell the difference. There were a few mix ups because they were short staffed, also they kept confirming things with us that was unnecessary but no big deal. Overall great food and tasty.
We came for the 50% off ladies night deal. Or else I wouldn't pay full price for their $78 all you can eat...way too expensive. Definitely not worth $78 even though Wagyu is on the menu. They would never actually give you enough food (literally) to make it worth while.
Our first server was nice and polite but half the things we ordered did not arrive. We ordered 3 appetizer items and 3 salads and some meats/sushi...they didn't give us any of the appetizers or salads. After awhile, we placed a second order of meat...which also never arrived and when we reminded a different server the items never arrived she told me that some workers on the floor do not take orders (what? Why wouldn't they say so and just leave?). I had to replace practically the entire order. The server advised us that one of the appetizers were "sold out". But it was never mentioned to us when we originally placed the order... and her response was...they never served this item all day. A little while later a male server came over to our table to ask if we accused him of not placing the order of meats we asked for (he was visibly upset even with his mask on)...we were shocked...we never spoke with this server our entire meal. He only dropped off items to our table but we never placed any orders with him. He went back to the female server we complained to earlier and challenged her saying it wasn't him who made the mistake. It was quite a show! The same kind of stuff happened the rest of the night, we never get all the items we ask for, something is always missing. We waited another 30mins for our second order of meats. And all of a sudden before the desserts even arrived a server brought me the bill to ask us to leave because they have to seat the next table in 5mins.
I wouldn't return...even with the 50% off
Good luck surviving with this kind of service!
Went there on Valentine's day, as far as food goes sushi and sashimi were good. Hot pot was not bad but nothing special. However service was very disappointing , our fire for hot pot went out and we asked three times for it to be restarted and nobody came back. They also haven't given us time to look at the menu at all and overall feeling was that they wanted us out quickly. For the price the experience was not good. The environment also was didn't match the pictures, expected more of a fine dining place but got a loud cafeteria vibe instead. Would not recommend, unless you really want all you can eat hotpot.
The Food was great. I Would definitely come back again
Slow service, missing order, menu lacks variety, soup base is boring, get tired of the taste very quickly. Table for 2 is too small to fit all plates
Sukiyaki is too salty and too much sauce. Clearly the chef don’t know what’s sukiyaki. Can’t taste the meat because of the sauce ruined it. Not worth it $78.
The service was excellent, food was good.
The experience would be much better if more room on the table. It’s party of two on Sunday noon, all guesses were squeezed in one area, table was so small, quite uncomfortable with 2 sets of hot pot!!
It was pretty good quality food. Only downside was the service was starting go downhill at the end of the meal. We ordered extra dessert that took a really long time to come (20+ mins). The server just took our payment and left without saying anything which I thought was disappointing. The hostess however thanked us for the meal and asked how the food was and even opened the door for us to leave. She definitely went beyond expectations and wrapped up our dining experience a lot better.
I would 100% recommend Shin Ka Gyu to my friends and family. We celebrated my daughter's birthday, it was my first time here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food quality is tops. Food presentation is breath taking (especially the sushi platter). Ambience is beautiful. Service is on point and polite.
They have a private parking lot, if that is full there is also paid street parking available.
The food is good for its price, atmosphere is good. The place is busy, but waitress very effective serving us.
Going before 4pm with 4 ppl is the best value! You can get the $78 set for the price of $58 and when you go with 4 ppl, the 4th person is free.
3rd Time Here! Honestly I love this place even though I don't think I can enough for my value. The quality of meat and general items are pretty good. Even the eggs they give don't seem to be normal eggs! We love it here :) You will love it if you want to have a variety of items. But if you just want 100 plates of just wagyu then maybe not as it's about the overall experience.
