If you want to experience the real Kaiseki, look no further. This restaurant is one of the top we have ever been. We booked a private room. Everything's from Food, to Service to Ambience was outstanding.

担当する係の方から、接客とはこういうものかと学ばされる。前回2年前、一元の客でフラッと入らせていただいたそんな客の好みを、今回は、言わずともさらっと提供して下さる。帰りの足の問題で、調理場を急がせたが、臨機応変に対応して下さり、感謝です。久しぶりにおいしいご馳走を、たらふく頂きました。係の方、調理場の皆さんありがとうございました。

Lovely Michelin star experience in Kyoto. We had our own private dining room in a traditional Japanese setting. We were able to try multiple traditional Kaiseki dishes, which were very good. And the service was excellent.

This historic and beautiful restaurant was listed as Michelin’s 1 star restaurant in 2021. Honestly speaking though, I was quite disappointed with my meal. All the dishes were nice, but not impressive enough to meet the price. The environment was very quiet, perhaps too quiet to enjoy the meal. I felt like I could hear a pin dropped and fall asleep any second while waiting for the next dish to arrive. My serving waitress was very shy and couldn’t really communicate in English. So I didn’t have the chance to understand and appreciate the complexity of every dish. The date on my menu was not updated as well which was disappointing as it showed that it wasn’t a personalised Kaiseki course in a supposedly fine-dining setting. Given this place is picked by the Michelin Kyoto guide, and the dear cost charged per person, I had a higher expectation on the overall quality and experience.

夜の会食で、真ん中のコース「寿膳」を選びました。１つ１つゆっくり出てくるせいもあるかもしれませんが、シニア女性にはボリュームがあり過ぎ、メインの牛肉が出てくる前におなか一杯でした。もう少しボリュームの少ないコースもあると良かったです。

京都に行く前に必ず予約していくお店です。下鴨茶寮さんの予約にあわせて予定をたてるぐらい大好きなお店です。今回は三回目の来店。歴史と格式のあるお店ですが10年以上前から懐石が１人から予約でき、季節のお料理を楽しめます。下鴨神社の下にあるお店なので下鴨神社前で降り、下鴨神社～糺の森～河合神社を散策してお店に行くのもよいかと思います。今回は南瓜豆腐、名残鱧と松茸の土瓶蒸し、栗ご飯など秋らしい献立でした。里芋と海老真丈の揚げ物にオリジナルの粉末醤油がついていたのも大変美味しかった。仲居さんもお若い方でしたがとても感じの良い方でゆっくりしました。コロナ前ですと近くにいてくださるんだなーと思ってましたが今回はマスクをして離れてお仕事をされてました。昼食でも仲居さんがついてくだり2時間ほどかけてゆったり食べるので急いでいる方にはおすすめしませんが京懐石を食べてみたい！という初めての方にもおすすめできる王道のお店です。

　４５年程昔の大学時代、今出川通りを路面電車で通学した時代から、一度は行きたいお店でした。　土日の予約がやや難しいこともあり、縁がありませんでしたが、今夏、平日に友人４名で初めて訪問しました。そして今回は、妻と結婚４０周年の記念として二度目の訪問でした。　前回は１階で庭景色を眺め、今回は２階で比叡山を遠望し、陶淵明の詩「飲酒」の掛軸の傍でランチをいただきました。　接待の女性に結婚記念日での訪問を告げると、特別に金粉をふりかけた赤飯を御馳走になりました。料理も丹後の地酒のぬる燗も美味しくいただきました。

今回も娘と2人で伺いました。御膳をお願いしましたが、味とサービスはいつもとおりで、期待を裏切らず安心していただけました。午後から雨が降ったせいか、食事が終わる頃には私達だけになり、貸し切りのような感じになり、一層静かな雰囲気の中で食事を楽しめました。茶寮さんは、気軽に通えるお値段ではありませんが、それに比例して「メッチャ美味い」を期待するお料理ではないと思います。素人評ですが、選ばれた素材を使い、薄く染み通るような味と美しいお造りをじっくり楽しむ、そんなお料理ではないでしょうか。これからも、時々利用させていただきます。

吉兆の松花堂弁当とほぼ同じ値段を取りながら、味は段違いに美味しくなく、素人に味付けかと間違えるくらいがっかりした味だった。特に煮物、八寸は、暑い季節を考慮にいれた味付け配慮が全く感じられず。ファミレス同様、だだ、作業の一環としてのんべんだらりとスーパーの惣菜を作成するように、作り手が何も考えずに提供したのはみえみえで、職人としての矜持、誇りが全くみられない俗物であった。本当は、店で直接苦情を述べたかったが、予定が詰まったいたので、怒りをぐっと飲み込み、店を辞去した次第である。特に酢の物、煮物、ご飯に付いて来た椀の味は酷かった。あの値段でこんな物出したのでは、詐欺と言われても仕方がないと考える。我々はみせの賄いを食べに行ったのではない。一見とはいえ、必要な金員を携え、礼節を重んじて店を訪れた次第で、今回供された物は、一見客に対する嫌がらせと言われても仕方がないと考える。板場には猛省を要求する。

Absolutely amazing experience. We had the private garden room, and chose the lighter 10 course meal. Absolute perfection; from the atmosphere, to the service, and incredible flavors. Truly a unique and unbeatable experience. Highest marks all around.

お料理は予想通り美味しく、お店の方の対応も良かったのですが平日の混んでない時間帯にもかかわらず、料理が出てくるタイミングがとても間延びしていた事お茶のお代わりを注ぐ時にテーブルの横に置いていたバッグに急須からお茶が零れて、汚された事が残念でした。お茶の注ぎ方が悪いのか、急須自体が良いものでは無いのか、扱いにくいものなのかは不明ですがまた、バッグに零れた時も、反対側のバッグを置いてない方の畳の上にもお茶が零れていた事もこちらから指摘するまで全く気が付かない様子でしたのでもう少し落ち着いてご自分の給仕しているテーブル(席)の状況を冷静に把握して頂けたら良かったと思います。ファミレスではなく下鴨茶寮として厳しい評価とさせて頂きました。

ネットで予約だけでは、お席の種類が分からず、通されたのは、多数テーブルでした。料亭といえば、個室でお座敷とばかり想像してたので、無理を言いお座敷に替えてもらいました。ネット予約は手軽で良いですが、やはり詳細は電話で聞かなくては。という結論です。
