Bluefin Tuna Toro Sushi
Sea Urchin Sushi
The quality of fish is not good, especially considering how much they charge for them.
This restaurant is good, but not great. I had made a reservation and we were the first to arrive when they opened for the day. Our table was in the sun and when we asked to move, they said no because all of the tables were reserved. Literally the place was empty. They wanted us in the corner because we had a child (who unbeknownst to them is very good at dining out). The food itself was tasty but not the best sushi ever for being so expensive. I think there are definitely better places we could’ve chosen for my husbands birthday dinner, which they did not even mention even though I had it on the reservation.
So I don’t recommend this place if you have other choices.
Top quality fish and spot-on classic preparations make this a must try.
the server was clueless and clearly didn't know how to help customers, maybe this was his first job
The food we had was quite good, pricey but good
Great ambiance and service. Grilled and small plates were good. Sushi wasn’t the best. The uni did not seem fresh and the negitoro was not very fatty. Everything else was great though. Loved the grilled riceball.
Blinding sun was irritating while trying to enjoy a meal. The service was a little slow, but extremely friendly. The food was really good. We hit the place on a recent post COVID-19 come back so I suspect they are still getting up to speed. We plan to go back and see if the experience is improved. The food was terrific but they sure could use some dinner hour shading.
We’ve eaten here several times so we’re familiar with the food but 4 rolls for 110$ yikes it’s getting too pricey for what you can get elsewhere
This restaurant again provided a consistent good meal. . even though we ordered a variety of dishes. The new awning is a nice improvement to their outdoor dining.
The food was delicious, but the menu should be corrected, nobody told me that there was ham in a potato salad.
The staff was exceptionally rude.
We noticed the many good reviews on Opentable and gave Simbashi a try for dinner. When we arrived, they couldn’t find our reservation despite multiple text and email confirmations we had received. After we were seated, the first thing our waiter told us that we’ll have to be out of there in 90 minutes. Needless to say, that didn’t sit well with us. The food we ordered (all Sushi rolls) was merely okay. The rolls were mostly bland and not one of them was anything special, despite prices in the $20 range.
It’s puzzling how this place gets such good reviews. We definitely won’t be back, specially since there are several good Sushi restaurants nearby. Lesson learned!
Nice ocean view while eating great sushi
Birthday for our 10 year old daughter
Really nice sushi, very fresh and well cut. The udon was delicious and the shrimp shumai was the best we have ever tasted.
The wait staff was attentive and efficient. Highly recommend.
Authentic traditional dishes cooked and plated to perfection.
Slow service to begin with and then got rushed through the meal
Too on hurry to close the food service at 8.30 pm
Food was great, but server forgot to bring requested items on 2 different occasions. Ambiance is nice here and the menu is much improved from the last time I was here. Will come back again
Great fish great patio great service
We loved the food! A bit pricey, but delicious!
This did NOT disappoint. First time here and the service was excellent as was the food. The only area of improvement was the outside tables are quite close together and felt 'crowded' by the proximity with the tables behind us in terms of having a little social distance and hearing other conversations while we were trying to have conversation. Would definitely eat there again and recommend.
Always a great spot for a yummy meal, with a great view. The 'celebration roll' is my personal fave, but everything is always fresh, and tasty!
Great food, great service, great view!
Inside dinning still closed which wasn’t an issue. Hostess told us we had to eat and be out in 90 minutes which felt odd as it was a birthday dinner. Also told we couldn’t move the seats around our table as it would affect the 6 foot rule which is odd as we only wanted to move the chairs, not the table. Get takeout if you want to eat here.
We came for Mother’s Day because they have designated Gluten Free items. The wait staff was was very helpful and they were very quick to clear our plates. All the rolls we had were delicious and one person at our table ordered the Mother’s Day Prix Fix meal which was very nice and came with a Mother’s Day Rose. We also ordered the Sake Sampler which was a nice addition to our delicious meal. It was a little hard to find because the plaza has multiple levels and the restaurant is tucked away on its own little terrace, best found from the far North Stairway.
Amazing high quality sushi!! Excellent menu
From start to finish, everything was amazing. The staff is very friendly, the food is authentic, and the drinks were perfect. I’ll definitely be coming back.
We love this place. Attentive service, great ingredients well and creatively prepared. Sake menu almost overwhelming. Patio is such a perfect place on a nice day.
We love Ike at the sushi bar. Awesome rolls and specials!
Lunch or dinner, this place is consistently excellent. For lunch, I like the menu’s versatility. Today, it was: agedashi tofu, chutoro and Wagyu beef nigiri, tonkatsu and deep
Impact oyster shooter with uni, ikura and quail egg. Drink of choice today: some excellent beers from Japan.
Great authentic Japanese food. A bit pricy for the amount of food. Right next to the beach so one can watch the sunset. Get there early, a bit noisy because of the traffic and out door dinning.
The side dishes are out of this world! Small plates that are amazing. However, strangely, the sushi dishes are simply average. Not bad in any way, but not as good as some of the ultra premium sushi restaurants. If I go again, I will stick with the many excellent side dishes, and not get sushi.
Happy hour menu/price is legit! This is our 2nd time here. First was a birthday dinner and the regular menu is also great with fair prices for the good quality food!
Had the most horrible experience at shinbashi.
Great food, service, and view. Sushi was fresh and of high quality.
Absolutely love this restaurant! Our new favorite. The bartender/Sake sommelier came to our table and helped us pick amazing sake to match the food and it was perfect!
One of the best Sushi places in North County San Diego
Love there food!! And Great service very friendly and helpful. Great patio seating
Upon arrival hostess and waitress both told us we had 90 minutes to be in and out. This is hardly the first thing you want to hear for a birthday celebration. Service was horrible and staff were cold at best.
