Can't beat the view! Service usually good. Food good. Nothing gourmet, but solid fare. Affordable.
The meal was over priced and not particularly appealing.
They didn’t even have our reservation said it had been down for a while. The service was terrible. We waited over 30 min for our food and when we finally got it, it was cold and disgusting. I would never recommend anyone eat there.
Service was very poor. We were there to celebrate our engagement and my fiancé ended up in tears because our evening was ruined.
If u need a quick bite and don’t want to drive to town this is ur place.
Service staff was very accommodating.
But operationally, kitchen was slow. Magnified by appetizers coming with entrees.
Wait staff should be served bread and butter once patrons order their dinner, to somewhat alleviate slow kitchen.
The night we came here happened to be the same weekend as the Seafood and Wine festival. It was very busy and we were understanding of the situation. Our meal was over $100 for 2 adults and 3 children, not a big deal but all meals were served cold since they must have been sitting for some time as it took an hour from getting our table to being served our cold food. When my husband asked for a drink we were told the bar was closed because they needed to set up “their nightclub” for their party. No warning that it was closing to the restaurant. When we asked to speak to the manager a young woman came over clearly annoyed that she was requested and came over very defensive and non apologetic. When interrupting our concerns she pointed out that they had 3 servers call in. Ok, we get it but by no means did she approach us professionally or sincere. She very annoyed said “well,I can give you 20% off your meal..” At this time we had just given up. We paid for our cold food that we did not finish and left. The whole point of coming here was to check it out for our fishing trip next month. We have decided to stay elsewhere now. Also, in comparison to nearby hotels with restaurants, this one has not been updated since at least 1989.
The environment seemed more like a dark corner in a sports bar. I intended to have a romantic dinner with my wife for valentines day, and instead, it was more like taking her to a bar. When we got there, we waited quite awhile to be seated. And then, even though we made reservations, the hostess did not care to ask our names & we were told that a reservation did not matter. The TV in the bar, next to the restaurant area we were sitting, was way too loud & we were forced to listen to cage fighting. And we waited to order after we were told by 3 different people, that the next one would be along shortly to take our order. The food was good, and finally the waitress lit the candle bbn on our table. Not the best of experiences. I will NEVER bring my wife here again for an intimate dinner. Rather, if I want to take her to a sports bar (NOT) this is the place to come.
Freezing cold in dining room. Service was cold and unfriendly. The food was over priced for what it is. The dining area is sterile and mostly I decorated. The doors were left open into low 40’s weather as the doors locked if shut. I wore a doe jacket through dinner.
We have gone there the past two years for Thanksgiving, and this year was fabulous! The food was perfect! As authentic as you can get! The service was great as well, and you can't get a better view! Will definitely be going there every year!
It was our 40th anniversary. We were traveling through Newport in our Motorhome and chose The Shilo Restaurant to celebrate. We had great service and the food was delicious. We were treated to an amazing slice of decadent chocolate cake, compliments of our waitress. It was a fun experience.
This was my "third strike, you're out" visit... aaannnd... I'll come back. The service this evening was terrific! Jasmine, I discovered, works Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'll give it another go... on a Wednesday or Thursday. I understand, however, their new chef passed away this past weekend and Shiloh is back to scrambling a bit. And the tables could be a bit cleaner, the carpet not so loud... HOWEVER, the view is absolutely unbeatable! So come and at least enjoy Happy Hour! How can you go wrong with a glass of wine?
Food was good but service was very slow - took nearly an hour to get our dinner and the restaurant wasn’t that busy
The food wasn't fresh. Limes had brown peels, lettuce brown on edges, shrimp has an overly strong odor.
Service was incredibly slow in a nearly empty restaurant. Didn't need to hear how our waitperson was living in a trailer with her dog and had been sober for several months now. Ordered onion rings as an appy and while the rings would have been good--crunchy and not heavily breaded--they were cold. My guest ordered a salad to arrive before her fish tacos; salad didn't arrive at all. How long should fish tacos and razor clams take? 45 minutes here! Finally get bill and are told credit card machine not working. Scrambled to compile enough cash while manager stammers a limp apology. We suggested 1) he advise the two tables that just arrived cash only, 2) we'd like two complimentary pieces of pie to go, 3) try old school and run customer cc using paper + pencil. BUT, the view is great!
We enjoyed our Christmas dinner there very much delicious good service truly enjoyable
Thank you to the staff for being there on Thanksgiving, to allow us to have the most lovely dinner.
A quiet, romantic space. The food and service were wonderful . A very special evening!
I reserved a table for 2 and asked for candle lit dinner a single peach rose and a top to a wedding cake that said forever and always. Didn't get any of it and servise was bad .. Was my anniversary.....
Beautiful view! Staff were friendly, waitress was a tad bit slow to get all our food out to us and forgot to bring out a dessert we had ordered. Food was very good, but overpriced. Bathroom needed remodeling badly! Ladies bathroom was dark & dingy.
Ok service. Slow without a busy restaurant. Food was ok. View was beautiful.
Informed when we arrived that they don't use Open Table and so we had no reservation even though we had received an email confirmation. It didn't matter however as we there was virtually no one there. The hotel in which the restaurant is located is old and had a dank, musty odor. The service was good, the view was fabulous, but the food was only decent. Wouldn't recommend and we won't be back.
Tried the crab Mac and cheese , Salmon special. All items were fresh, and delicious. Service was very good. Very casual and a great view.
