Night at the opera
We had an awesome server! She gave excellent recommendations for wine and food. We Loved being outside to dine. Maybe just one suggestion, have some live music. We were there roughly 1 1/2 hrs but if there was live music we would have stayed longer.
Also the servers uniforms should be a tad higher class then plaid shirts given the obvious atmosphere the Remi has worked hard to create.
Definitely will be back!
This is our third time back; the food and service have been consistently good and the ambiance is terrific. An exciting new option for Saskatoon dining.
Saskatoon’s best restaurant!
I introduced 4 of my friends to Shift the evening we went to the opera - they absolutely loved it!! The food was taste-full and the service was excellent! And its such a convenient place to have Dinner before a show at Persephone :) Bravo! Brava!
Disappointed in the service on both of the occasions that I have been there for lunch. Very pleasant people but they seem to lack a good system to connect the diners with a particular server. Our fellow welcomed us, served water, gave menus and then became the bar clean up guy until he got involved with a number of tables in delivering meals and after some hailing eventually came back to us, took our order and it eventually came. Also, they are setting a very casual vibe w servers in jeans and crumply shirts, etc but I am not sure this is the way to go in that beautiful building. Maybe the French waiter look would be better?
Had a guest in from out of time and wanted to show off the Remai and Shift. This is my fourth visit and once again was not disappointed. Attentive friendly and timely service and very good food. Our guest was very impressed.
Beautiful sunny morning on the patio overlooking the river! Enjoyed a unique and delicious Sunday brunch!
Amazing food, the recommendations from our server were fantastic. Service was excellent!
Our waitress was great. We were celebrating our Anniversary and it was a nice night out.
Wonderful menu and exceptional service. For our first time at Shift it was great. Will recommend and return soon.
Nice time! Beautiful view! Very quiet the night we were there - lots of individual attention and great service!
This was our third time at Shift and we were not disappointed. The food is imaginative and delicious, the portions are just right, and the service is professional and unobtrusive. And you simply can't beat the view and ambiance on a summer evening.
It was nice but I would like to see more options on menu. Food could be better for price.
I made a reservation for 2. When seated at a table for 6, we asked why we couldn't have a table for two. Reply was they were all reserved. I decided to return to the hostess and she realized she had looked up the wrong reservation. The way we were treated as we were relocated to a table for two, we both agreed we would fire her if she was our employee. Our waitress was pleasant as well as the person who brought our food but we were never asked if we wanted more water during our 1 hour brunch. The food was excellent and lovely setting. Lynn Underwood
I have a mixed review so bear with me. The view and the atmosphere were awesome, the staff was very friendly and we were provided good service. My only complaint really had to do with the Shift Breakfast. Two of the eight people with me ordered the scones and were very happy with them as they were flakey and almost a cross between a scone and a croissant. 2 of us ordered the shift breakfast, which included herb cooked eggs, ( the herb was parsley) while it looked lovely it was completely tasteless. Thyme, oregano, cilantro, sage or even basil would have been better choices. The potatoes cooked in duck fat were underdone and again flavourless, no salt, no pepper and still had a bite to them and were quite pale not golden brown . This came with delicious back bacon and a little sausage patty that had some flavour. The Brioche toast would have been better if it had been buttered. Also note another of my guests asked about how the eggs were cooked, we were told over easy but when they came out they were sunnyside up. I didn't mind this but one order had to be sent back to cook over easy. Overall a very delightful location and good friendly service.
Our first experience dining on the deck. A must for anyone looking for a great meal in an even better venue.
Service was not good
Beautiful view and great service. Food was good but nothing nothing a person couldn’t create at home. The squid appie was great.
Lunch on the terrace overlooking the river was delightful. Short but well chosen menu. Food well prepared and presented. Service good.
The tables were not full and we waited too long for water to be filled initially and it was not refilled during meal until we finally asked. Food was average. There was some obvious scuttle going on between wait staff and manager (gentleman in suit) regarding how tables were distributed.
Coffee was too cold and been told there is no microwave to warm it up, i was not impressed with omlete, potato were half cooked, burger was good according to my friend, i loved the view tho. But food was just ok. Sorry
Creative healthy scrumptious feast, fabulous staff, great interior design and space, and hosts that amazing river valley view summer and winter.
Everything was fabulous!!!
This is this third time I've been to Shift and I would that this was my best experience so far. The food was incredible, we had a lovely server and really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the space. I am excited to go again and get a table on the patio!
I like the food, not always sure about the value. Not a cheap place, nor am I looking for a cheap place when going to Shift. $40.00 for Sunday lunch, not brunch, is at the higher end of what I would consider good pricing.
We booked the table for Mother's day on open table, not realizing we had to be specific about the brunch (which we thought we would do). When we got to the restaurant, we just ordered off the menu and were not disappointed.
Staff are very nice and our server person was friendly. Love the view.
Brunch with my Momsy for Mother’s Day ❤️
I have eaten here several times and choose it for my Mother's Day brunch with my adult children. Lovely location, pleasant menu and outstanding staff.
Great value, great, local food.
Not a lot of tables; make sure you make a reservation.
Food was amazing especially the chickpea fries as an appetizer!
Excellent meal. Best I have found in Saskatoon thus far!
Interestingly, although I had indicated when reserving a table that it was our anniversary, no mention was made of it. Why ask, Open Table?
Great experience all around. The food was interesting, well presented and extremely tasty. (There are more dishes on their menu that I will be back to try.) Our server was knowledgeable and professional. The view of the river was wonderful. It was quiet when we arrived around 5 but a bit noisy by 7 when we left.
Great overall. I would recommend it
Shift is everything you want in a restaurant - killer location that no other restaurant in our city has, a gorgeous room flooded with light, cavernous ceilings and a unique menu. The oh-so-Saskatchewan offering of Paul's Pierogi Benedict was a must try for all of us and it didn't disappoint. Plus hey $5 Mimosas (or Caesars) kicks off a great day! We can't wait to visit in the evening and enjoy drinks/food on the deck with a view of River Landing.
Lovely late lunch with a dear friend to celebrate her birthday. Everything was awesome as it always is! Shift is my new “go to” restaurant. In fact, I will be there for dinner tonight with my sons!
Shift is a nice looking restaurant in a beautiful building.....I had joined friends for a glass of wine there a week before and they had light food to go along with drinks...our server was very attentive but not overly so I thought it was good....then I took my daughter and grandson for a dinner to celebrate a recent birthday ...a different server and less enjoyable....substituting kale for romaine in a Caesar salad was not great...made worse by the fact that the kale included too many yellow leaves.....just sloppy kitchen work there....I think it is ok...not great ...and better up the standard...I will try it again but there are many choices in that price point
We made a reservation for Sunday, April 29, 2018, 7 PM. We asked for a table of 6 with a nice view. We got a table for 6 next to the wall in the corner behind the bar with a view of empty tables for 2. The first 4 to arrive asked that we be moved near the windows. The young waitress with the snotty attitude vehemently refused. When the last 2 arrived, we asked to speak with the manager. Apparently the empty tables for 2 could not be moved because it would then block the servers. We pointed out that the empty tables for 2 had a gap between them so that when 3 tables for 2 are put together, forming a table for 6, the tables were no further into the aisle than they were initially. The manager relented, we got our table for 6 with the nice view, and the young waitress with the snotty attitude became furious, stomping back and forth behind the bar. Fortunately, she was not our waitress. Instead we had a SUPER waiter (tall fellow) who did an awesome job looking after us! After all that had gone on, we could all see he was clearly nervous, but he carried on and the rest of the evening went well.
In general, it's sad to see a new restaurant trying to make a start with the policy/attitude that the servers are more important than the customers. Obviously if the restaurant had been busy, we would have been happy to stay at the first table. But it was perhaps 1/4 to 1/3 full, with almost no one sitting at the empty tables for 2 with the nice view.
Also, shouldn't management seize opportunities to delight the customer? That always gets me to come back and leave bigger tips too.
I adore Shift. The ambiance, the service and the food. I am so proud to bring guests here. A wonderful experience each time I have been.
