Reservations were on time. Good valet parking. Seemed like a fun place with many outdoor activities going on. Almost wanted to change clothes and hit the outside bar after my meal.
Nice place but over priced for quality of food. Buffett is 36.50 per person but they charge an additional 10.00 for the snow crab legs! If you are not a seafood eater then dont waste your time. Prime rib was nothing but fat and the flank steak was dry and rubbery. The view is beautiful but it was more worth it to go eat at the bar at Shepherds and enjoy the live band. Next time that's what we'll do.
Every time we are in Clearwater we always come to Shephard's. We love the crab legs. Our waiter Steve was awesome. Friendly, service was great!
They quality of the food went down
Great selection of food, wonderful crabs legs. Staff were pleasant and friendly. We dined on a Sunday where we had the added extra entertainment of the beach club music outside. Lots of people watching.
Dress code not upheld : big guy belly hanging out in a t shirt and gym shorts.
Food warm but not hot
Price to high for the food
The food as a whole was decent. A good selection. The all you can eat crab legs for the price was not worth it. The crab was continuously over cooked and dry. The shells didn’t even crack they bended when trying to crack open. The butter used was not actual butter but more like the oil butter you get on popcorn. Everything else was decent.
Breakfast items were served cold. Disappointing to us. Also, many items needed refills and we had to wait.
Went for Easter dinner buffet and paid an extra $10, did not have crab legs. Waitress was new and didn’t stay on top of drinks and seemed clueless. Food was just okay. For spending over $100 was not impressed and would have much rather went elsewhere.
When we arrived for our reservation for five we were told if we wanted to eat inside we had to wait! We were asked if we would mind sitting outside. Although it was 78° and sunny and we were dressed for our Easter dinner we agreed to sitting outside. After being led to A table that was not shaded, in direct sunlight we asked for one of the tables in the shade. We were then seated at two tables pushed together outside of The Wave nightclub. At that time we had to move the umbrellas ourselves to shade our table. The waiter came and asked us for our drink order. There weren’t any menus offered when sitting down and when I asked the waiter for a wine list his reply was red or white. There was no wine list. Drinks were served in plastic cups even my red wine!!! I went to the bar and asked for a glass for my wine and was told that they don’t use glasses out by the club seating!! The buffet food was third class and cold. Then a seagull came down and stole food off one of our plates! Very overpriced, lacking anything you would expect for $39.99 per person. Side note, The photos on Open Table depict crab claws in this buffet. There are no crab claws whatsoever at this buffet. Easter dinner with family and friends was an embarrassing disaster!
They were great only didn't have crab legs sad hopefully next time
The only reason it had been worth driving all the way to the beach for this buffet was for the crab legs. Apparently, they no longer carry crab legs for special occasions and holidays which was the only reason to sit in 1 1/2 hours in spring break traffic. Needless to say, we were enormously disappointed when we finally learned of this change after having to ask three different employees for a straight answer. Moreover, when they do have crab legs, they now charge an extra $10 per person and control how many you get by slow walking them to your table.
Additionally, the restaurant was significantly over-booked and the lines for food were ridiculous. The staff was clearly agitated and we even witnessed a major staff-member meltdown right in front of our table. We will not be coming back and a family tradition has sadly ended.
I always love going here with family and friends that come in from out of town and never lets me down great ambiance
Just mediocre. Went for Easter brunch. Slow to replenish and quality on some items was more like a Golden Corral. Arrived early with plan to sit on beach for an hour before brunch and they wouldn’t allow us because we had our 17 and 16 year old with us.
Very disappointed in Easter brunch this year. The open table menu said crab legs when I booked but we were told no crab legs available this year. Not to mention in general the selection just seemed much smaller this year. The prime rib had decent flavor if you could get a rare piece but it didn't matter what you asked for you just got the next slice in line, which in general were all overcooked but if you got stuck at the end it was just dry roast beef. We were also seated in the back night club which would've been fine if it had been aired out better, but it smelled like a night club ( spilled Booze and sweaty feet). We enjoyed the prior years but will be looking for a new venue next year.
Food was ok. Service was good. Had to wait about 20 minutes or more for my car from the valet. Once they realized the ticket I gave them for my car had been lost, the men quickly retrieved my car and they were very apologetic.
For an Easter Sunday which is usually very busy,, we arrived early and they seated us right away. Food was wonderful as usual and we were lucky to sit outside on a BEAUTIFUL Sunday afternoon and very much enjoyed everything we ate. Will go back again and again..loved it. Thanks
Service: Amanda was nice enough during brunch service, but noticed that other servers filled up empty mimosas without having to be asked to do it. I had to ask her to refill an empty glass the entire meal. Considering she did not have to serve food because it is a buffet, she is pulling in big bucks from tips. I would expect much better service !
Food: good selection, some items better than others. Chocolate cake was to die for! Mac and cheese was tasteless. I thought the brunch would have made to order omelettes , but they did not.
Ambience: excellent! Watched a multimillion dollar boat try to put down anchor in front of resort! Priceless.
Valet: free if you validate your stub with service personal.
I have been going to the Sunday brunch for the last year and have really enjoyed it. Easter Sunday they went up on the price $10 and removed the crab legs from the buffet. They also overcharged us by $30 on the total bill and my father ended up with a $115 pending transaction on his account when it should have been $30. In my opinion, Shephard's is becoming greedy and taking advantage of people. I hope they can maintain there business off vacationers because they will lose local business including this customer!
For a special occasion, I would absolutely recommend. With that being said, it was a bit pricey for a buffet. The food was good and plenty of choices from seafood to beef and salads. Everyone in our party enjoyed their selection. The desserts bar was crazy good and so many things to choose from. Our server was absolutely fantastic.
Took family for Easter Brunch, great variety. We will be back!!!
Wasn't as good as previous Easter brunches. Food was decent, service was just ok. Nothing bad, just never got water refills, never removed our brunch plates, never really saw our server much. Just seemed too crowded and servers were weeded this year. Also, at $40 a head for brunch you guys can't include sodas and iced tea? Was charged $2.75 for iced tea. 😒 Not everyone drinks mimosas. Pretty to have brunch on the water though. Would give it another try.
The food was amazing and our server was friendly and kept the beverage glasses full
Went there for Easter brunch, very good selection. The only complaint was they they jammed in one table too many on the patio. With a buffet, you need the ability to get up and down to get food. Our table required us to go one at a time because we were trapped by the door. In fact, my mother never let the table and I had to run her food for her.
When we shared the corner, our server Amanda was attentive didn’t offer any solution. The door was actually hitting my chair when we sat down and we had to negotiate to move the table closer to other guests
Everything was very good. My Family enjoyed it.
Went with a 10am reservation on Easter Sunday to try to beat the heavier crowds and I felt like it really paid off. The food was excellent, the waitress was great, and the weather was fantastic. Even the traffic cooperated. We had a wonderful time.
Good selection of quality food. Waitress was outstanding.
Don't waste your 50.00 dollars . Highly disappointed. Went 3 other times in 2 years food was better than then now
I was disappointed with the buffet. I took my son and his friend while on vacation. I apparently did not read the fine print to notice that it would cost $10 extra for crab legs. They ate one bunch. The rest of the food was average...not really worth $50 per head for me and the family.
Breakfast buffet. It’s pretty basic there during the week for breakfast but food was good and price was nice. Waitress could not have been nicer.
Sunday brunch is amazing and will definitely be returning for the seafood.
I enjoyed the overall experience. The food was pretty good and the unlimited drinks were nice. On the other hand, all "breakfast" meat options are pork. It's the 21 century, Ocean Flame should accommodate a variety of palates. The omelette maker was rude and uninviting. I strongly dislike when people in customer service roles stare at you and wait for you to state what you want, instead of greeting you and asking. It comes with the job...so do it.
Outdoor seating was great. Nice weather, clear water (no pun intended), and great views. Our table server was great...very attentive and friendly.
My fiancé and I just was doing our typical Sunday date day . The hostess was rude, they no longer heated up the crab legs which was the main reason we drove a hour away. Only good thing about our experience was the waiter.
Nice selection for Sunday brunch. Cannot beat the view !
Our server kept clearing my plate away from me and I wasn’t even done eating there would be full plates of food and it would be taken from me.
Average food, less than average service. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night but we won't be back.
1st time there and we both really enjoyed it, It was my husband's birthday. We will definitely be back.
Best buffet in Clearwater!!!! Plenty of options to choose from no matter what your craving is.
Great service and fresh food
The food was phenomenal! Loved the crab! Also loved that it is on the water. Service was excellent.
