Shephard's Ocean Flame Interactive Buffet Ratings and Reviews
Food was very very good. Great price for the buffet, had everything from seafood, to meet, to salads, to desserts, Sushi, and everything in between. The only complaint I had was the melted butter for the crab legs, I don’t believe that’s real butter, And if it was the butter tasted nasty. Other than that everything was excellent.
A truly abysmal restaurant. I tried each one of the baked fish on offer, and all were overdone - dry, not moist. Quality was overall very low, e.g. crackers (cheap, generic, factory-product) and cheese (3 kinds, a brie and two blocks of some generic solid white cheese with little flavor) were typical.
Staff, from the front desk to the waiters, made you feel like part of a factory operation rather than a guest or a client. No sense from anyone that they would like our evening to be special. If McDonalds opened a seafood buffet, it would be just like this place. Spend as little as possible on ingredients and talent, decor and ambience, and try to maximize volume of customers and pass-through rate.
Not enough handicapped parking. For a hotel plus restaurant, this place has far too little handicapped parking. They obviously want you to have to use the $20 valet parking. Even though there was an open space adjacent to handicapped parking, and knowing we were seeking handicapped parking, the valet refused to allow us to self park in that location and did not offer free valet parking as an option. Shame on them!
We were given a table that was very uncomfortable for us to move around considering having a baby high chair on our ...we did made this aware to the host that we need a spacious place due to the need of the high chair but this was ignored . we felt very disappointed this is not a family oriented place. I will not recommend this place for someone with a baby.
Server was horrible. All he had to do was bring drinks and remove plates. We sat with no drink refills, never brought our coffee, never offered mimosas which were included and charged adult price for a child. We priceeded to talk to the manager who honestly had a "oh well" attitude. The manager gave us a scratch off worth 10.00 off our next meal (after we just paid 180.00 for the bad service) what a joke! So many other buffets around with great food and service.
First time eating there for Christmas dinner. For the price I thought it would be nicer. Kind of like eating in a cafeteria with long lines at the buffet. Just two of us and when we were in line for desert they cleaned off our table and were getting ready to seat people at it! Prime rib was good, but everything else was just adequate. Not worth the price. Won't go back.
The value of Shephard's Ocean flame buffet seems to have taken a hit. This was by far the most disappointing experience I have ever had there. It started from arrival. We had reservations for 630 and had to stand in line for approx 25 minutes. when we got to the Hostess station, they gave our table away to a party of six that just arrived with no reservations. They then advised us that we could wait another 45 minutes for a table or sit outside where it was approx 50 degrees and windy. The food was sub par at best and we have always had pleasant experiences here in the past. Foods were cold, dry and not in good supply for the amount of people that attended. This buffet in my opinion was not even worth half of the 45.00 that they were charging. The only bright spot was our server Michael Orsini. He was very cordial, professional and attentive to my family and our table. Big props to Michael, he deserved the 70.00 gratuity.
My family went to Shephards on Christmas day. It was our first time trying the buffet and I think it's going to be a yearly tradition. It was super busy but the staff handled the crowd very well. I appreciate all the workers that were there that day including our server, James. He was attentive and pleasant. The food was great. The only bummer was that there was bacon in the macaroni and cheese and we don't eat bacon, but other than that, everything was delicious.
I usually come for Sunday brunch, which is fantastic. I was a little underwhelmed with the Christmas dinner experience. Our waitress was wonderful but a few of the kitchen staff were very sassy. Especially sassy at the dessert station. I understand that working on a holiday sucks but being rude to guests isn't acceptable.
First time visitors. This was the Christmas Day Buffet. The ambience and water view were wonderful. The food selection was quite eclectic. (Something for everyone). Everything we ate was excellent. Particularly liked the carving station choices. All high quality meats cooked to perfection. Our server was very attentive but inconspicuous at the same time. We will definitely go back in the future.
Our server was very pleasant, but run off her feet. There was no pickup of dirty dishes. We had to clear our own table to go back to the buffet. We did not get drinks. We could have left without paying. For a holiday buffet, the staff should be full, not a skeleton crew. The food was only OK and some hot items were cold. I doubt I will be back. Too many other choices were they seem to really want your business.
Went on Xmas as I have for a few years now, and it was NOT up to par. No mimosas (said Xmas on Monday!! what??), no crab legs, and a much more limited menu for a higher price. They just cut too many corners this year. I won't be back and that is unfortunate as I have really enjoyed the place in the past, but enough is enough!
Husband and I have celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, anniversaries, etc at Shepherds many times and have NEVER been disappointed in the food or the service. Even when they are packed, like Christmas, the service is timely and friendly. They are also very helpful. I had asked about a desert that I really liked and was surprised when I talked to the server as he got the name for me. All we know is we will and have recommended Shepherds to all our friends
Even though the restaurant was not full we were seated in the bar dance hall area.... Not great.
The Christmas buffet was 42.95 plus tip and tax and napkins were paper and not enuf of them.
The food was just so-so. Too much sugar and the deserts were low quality glop!
Used to be a great brunch buffet but now it has gone down hill. Definitely will not go back.
Have been to this restaurant several times. We are always impressed with the variety of selections, and, the fresh appearance and taste of the food. Service staff is some of the best we have experienced anywhere. We have had Yvanna several times now, and, will continue to request her every time we go to this restaurant.
Perfect choice for Christmas Day buffet. Seated immediately as per the reservation time. Waitress was professional and friendly. Food was all well prepared. Surprised that there was no turkey meat. Thank you for the complimentary valet parking that was offered. That was a relief on my mind. The close seating allowed us to sit next to a mother and daughter in town for vacation and they were fun to talk with.
I was a bit upset that they couldn't find my reservation in their system. When I asked to sit outside, they said that was for people with reservations! (Which I had!) I even had a confirmation of the reservation on my phone!
Otherwise, our server James made it a decent experience anyway.
