Loud outside, there was a party next door. Indoor quiet, 70’s style, food ok, vastly overpriced unless you haven’t eaten all day.
I love this place. What a wonderful experience. Make sure to save room for the dessert table.
Food was remarkable, hot, awesome variety.
Manager also came a couple of times to check if anything was needed
Perfect date night
We took my mother for brunch for her birthday and everything was great!
The restaurant was clean and my waiter was very apologetic and he did send the manager to the table, when I shared my concern of the freshness and safety of the food on the buffet. The manager did comp one of our buffets, but considering the crab legs I ordered seperate were the only food that wasn't bad, that was the least that could have been done.
Great place for a sunset dinner on the beach. I’m not a huge buffet diner, but this place offered a little bit for everyone and all four of is were happy. The sushi was fresh and the oysters were delish!
We went for seafood and ended up only eating crab legs because there was not much of a selection of seafood. Also, we made a 5:00 reservation and they were not ready to open on time. The price of $55 a person just to eat crab legs was not worth the money. The food was good and the service was great from our waitress. Never had to wait on more crab legs. I would recommend this restaurant but not if you are going to eat seafood.
Took my dad and kids for the New Years Day dinner buffet. They had a very good selection of food. We enjoyed it
However if you have little ones ages 11-15 who are picky eaters the $30 might be much there is not any “kid friendly” selections like mac n cheese or chicken tenders ect.. definitely great for adults and non picky eaters. The dessert selections alone were amazing. We will definitely return
The good is ok , definitely not worth $30 a person .
We went on NYE with another couple. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Beautiful atmosphere as well. We will definitely recommend and return.
Went on NYE, it was very busy but the wait staff was very attentive with our drinks, and their was no hurry to push us out the door which was nice, the Prime Rib was worth the price tag. Bring your appetite. Lots of great food.
Sitting outside, hearing the waves crashing was very relaxing. Excellent viewing for fireworks! Great band and music. Good selection and variety of food. They needed more staff at bar and servicing tables for New Year’s Eve. Ask several staff for party favors and many did not know. Everything in package should be presented when you arrive. Otherwise, a good experience!
Great food for the value, highly recommend to everyone.
New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Food was great. There was something for everyone. Wait staff was very accommodating. Great value for NYE’s!!
Not worth it anymore since getting rid of the all you can eat crab legs. Its a small number of buffet items with an even smaller number of good items id actually eat. You pretty much have to get your moneys-worth in prime rib because most of the other items are sub-par. Once they have something else good, the next time you come back its gone. I used to go 1-2 times a month, but since getting rid of the crab legs, I have no desire to return.
Ate there a few times before food was good . This time for nye at an early seating 5:15 chicken bites were dry,, baked mahi dry....smoked n e clam chowder watery... let’s say this I had better ...off day I would try it more time ...
Great location & many food choices.
Can become noisy especially in season and around the holidays.
The wait staff is friendly and efficient.
Disappointing that only mimosas are included.
We don’t drink so must pay extra for simple coffee or iced tea.
Since orange juice is a component of the mimosa it should also be included.
At the price for this buffet coffe & cold or hot tea should be included.
Was our first time there and would definitely return.
I have been to Shepards before but this was not one of the better times. Thanksgiving was
not real good but I give another try. This time for our Christmas dinner, food even worse.....empty
pans not filled, some half full all dried out. Not a good dinner
This was an interesting place. As the food was decent but not what I was expecting. The service was OK as a normal buffets.
This is our second visit and very disappointed. Food was not fresh, had been sitting under the heat lamps too long making everything tough.
20 Years, never disappointed!!! Live in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Overall great holiday buffet! However, charged an extra $10.00 per person on buffet, actual hotel advertisement was in lobby and $10.00 cheaper. Not sure if they were charging more for reservation's made outside of the hotel. Buffet service was great! However, the woman at the desk taking the reservation's upon entry needs an in service on customer service, from management. She tried to inquire as to when I made my reservation online via open table. It should not matter--PERIOD--when it was made. I already had my confirmation in hand and in her face. Most likely she did not like the fact that I politely inquired of the possibility of getting a table earlier then the actual reservation. Again it should not matter, PERIOD--I only asked a simple question. I did not need to be interegated of when the reservation was made, especially since they sat our party 30 minutes later then said reservation, of 8:15 pm. Funny thing about the entire situation---well not really funny, was once we were seated we looked around and literally about 12 tables completely empty. Did she actually seat us later and make us wait because I asked to be seated earlier??? Which it was clearly possible for that to have happened with 12 empty tables or more. I get it was Christmas and you didn't want to be there. On a positive note food was great, servers were great, not grumpy at all, meat server guy very pleasant. Would go again however, definitely you guys are in need of a more customer oriented individual at your reservation desk. Someone who actually likes the job and does not let the little things get to them, especially on a holiday.🙂👍
For the price the food was fine. Had high expectations from all the reviews. The Sangria was supposed to be awesome. It was actually just a couple of wines and some liquor mixed at the bar, not real Sangria but wasn't charged for it. Service was pretty good.
Service wasn’t very attentive and it was obvious food had been out a while. Items on dessert buffet weren’t marked correctly so you couldn’t tell what things were.
One of our favorite holiday venues. Food is great. Service is excellent.
We had Christmas Dinner 2 years ago and thought it was fantastic, so when we booked our trip from Wisconsin, we were looking forward to having Christmas dinner again, To our disappointment, the hostess sat us by the bar but right where the traffic starts for the buffet line. We could not have a conversation because everyone was waiting to eat and complaining. They need to figure out a better system for the direction of the line. The food was no better than a Golden Corral, it was terrible. I work in the restaurant business for over 40 years and would say that was our worst buffet ever. I did try to talk to a manager and told him my concerns and all he said was next time look at the menu before we come and if we don't like what we see, then don't come. I know it was busy and a long day but be more professional. I wish we would have gotten some tight of refund because it was bad. I really don't complain about meals because of being in the service but when on vacation and you look forward because it was exceptional the first time and then terrible this time it puts a damper on your Christmas Dinner. I wish someone would contact me about the experience
Last year had a gourmet variety. No turkey this year and vegetables seemed lacking. Could not find gravy anywhere for mashed potatoes. There was a huge unorganized line of people waiting for plates and no one there to instruct them to go to the various stations. Very disappointing, this is usually an annual Christmas dinner, will be looking for a different venue next year.
I was expecting a much nicer buffet for the price. The room itself was nothing special almost like a cafeteria. Lines for the main buffet were extremely long and prime rib and ham were dried out. Very disappointed and very mad I spent over $110 for 2 of us and neither of us enjoyed it.
Went to have a lovely Christmas Day dinner with our family. Even though we had a reservation, we were met with lines everywhere. They sat us in an adjoining bar called Waves which was dark and not welcoming. We had to walk through a hallway and dining room to get to the buffet where it was so packed that you waited in lines for over 20 minutes to get food. People were eating in line and children picking at the buffet - it was not appealing at all for a price of $39.95. Although there were great food choices, they were not superbly cooked or memorable. There were also not alot of good food choices for children on the holiday menu. Our table of nine persons thought it was fair at best. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice quiet memorable evening with family - it is a tourist trap to say the least and just a huge cafeteria with people jumping in line and throwing so much food on their plates that it is falling onto the floor and all over the buffet choices. If you want lots of food and long lines, then this is the place for you. I rather dine and be served than to deal with herds of people inappropriately dressed for dinner and eating in buffet lines.
Gross Christmas buffet. Hot food was cold. Pizza was inedible. Would not recommend to anyone.
Roast beef was either blood rare not cooked or it was tough but you could not eat it the turkey was tough the ham was okay most of the food was cold. But I will say that the people working at the station's tried to be nice. If the manager would have walked around and looked at the tables and seen all the roast beef that was being thrown away that was disgusting to see that wasted food. I have been to Shephard's a few times I have never had a time that was so bad like this, I waste $200.!! Will never recommend anyone to go to Shephard's again nor will they be seeing me there again.....
You have to like a buffet to want to eat here. The food was good. But it was disgusting watching people load up their plates and waste so much food. I know that is not the restaurant's fault. BTW, the staff working the tables were excellent!
Food was cold. Too crowded and loud. Parking was bad. I won't do that again.
It was Christmas day and crowded. The only.critique was some.of the.food wasn't hot enough. Especially the soup.
Food was good and some ok. It was loud. Service was good.
The parking was easy after we made it through the Clearwater Round-a-bout, which was a great improvement over the fiasco last year. The food and table service were both excellent. The front end was worse then poor. We couldn't get a table! There was always 10-15 people waiting at the counter. Check in was slow. We were given a pager and told we were number 5 on the list. After 20 minutes I went back to the desk and asked what was going on. We were told we were number 1 on the list, but she kept giving tables to other people who arrived later than us. I stayed right at the counter and spoke up. Eventually we got a table. When we arrived at our table there were 3 or 4 other empty 4-top tables nearby that we could have sat at. The front end totally failed. We have been coming to Shepards for several years but we are thinking that was the last. From the number of empty tables, many other of your customers share our opinion. The front end was a total failure and the parking problem last year was bad. Maybe management should be held accountable for the poor performance.
It was nice- the food was good. The reservations were a bit jumbled. Nice Christmas dinner.
We were not happy to get home and see that you send a email saying we had not been to the restaurant and had broke our reservation - when we spent over $110 there. I recommend that the people doing the reservations be more careful about checking people in. We were there 1/2 hour before the actual reservation, so that was not the issue. We have been several times to your Holiday Meals, and thought that the food was better in the past. We want to suggest a few things: One - take in less people at one time for the Holiday meals. There just was TOO MANY people getting food at the same time. It was crazy. Several of the platters of food (where there should have been food) were empty. There were many items not labeled, so I had to end up leaving some food on my plate, because I didn't know what I picked up. The food ended up to be something different then what I thought I was getting. We actually ended up leaving before we were ready to leave, because it was too crazy to go up for more food. We were in wheelchairs, and fighting people the entire time was not fun.
We have had Christmas Dinner for the last 5 years, here. No problem till this point.
2 pm reservations, waited in very crowded line till 2:20 pm, although, several empty tables were visible. And 4 Hostesses directing guests, and hostesses appeared overwhelmed.
Did not request outside dining, that is where we were placed. Band playing outside, made it impossible to carry on a conversation, birds flying around our table, we saw waitress twice, delivered drinks, and had to track her down to get bill.
To her defense she was also, working inside tables. Not sure why such a drastic change this year, very sad this had been a Christmas tradition, we always had enjoyed
