The food was awesome!
The food was, as always, great. But we had 8:00 dinner reservations and did not get served until near 9:00. Then, because the restaurant was closing, we felt our time to be cut short.
Great food, great service. Highly recommended! My only gripe is that we made reservations for 8pm - got there 10 mins early and weren’t seated till 8:40. A few parties who arrived AFTER us (who also has 8pm reservations - I saw it on hostess tablet) were seated before us which was incredibly irritating. The restaurant is quite popular and had an inviting atmosphere which was causing the extra long wait. Nonetheless, we had a great time, as always, and can’t wait to return.
It was loud but food was great
Food was great, seating upstairs with view of sunset was great, service was not. No menus delivered by our hostess, bar tender had to give us water. Then we didn't get any silverware with our appetizer. To be fair, it was very busy and our poor waitress had at least our table, 2-3 others, and a birthday party; amount of staffing was more of an issue than the skill of our waitress. Would go back, but would try to not go during typical dinner hours.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and was such a wonderful find! The food was delicious, and our server, Lucy, was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back!
Very good Italian food. Would definitely go back!
Took my family there for a birthday celebration. As usual, food was delicious. Our waiter Logan was fantastic, attentive, and gave us extra sauces to take home with our leftovers. One of my favorites and will definitely be back!
The food was great and the serving was so huge that we shared a plate. Great service...
Shells and Sauce is a really fantastic restaurant. Food is amazing, service is always great, and it has a busy and fun, not overly loud or taxing, atmosphere. We go there for our anniversary every year and leave very happy every time.
Amazing food and great service! We plan to make a monthly event out of dining here.
Server wasn’t as tentative as I would of liked. Drinks didn’t get filled and we were not asked if we wanted alcohol beverages after we finished the first ones.
Our favorite restaurant for any occasion! We have never left disappointed!
I have Celiacs , and thought they had GF options. I ordered GF pasta and felt sick after eating dinner. I don't think I will be going back.
Awesome time, great food and outstanding service. Looking forward to our next visit
Shells and Sauce continues to be a reliable, wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Food, wine, and staff are terrific!
Food was OK, crowd was loud, restaurant was busy and ended our time early because of the noise and you felt rushed.
It took us quite a while to get our food but the food was worth the wait.
Amazing food and service! They took great care of us.
We waited for about 25 minutes for our reservation and then were seated upstairs where they left the service door open so it was freezing. The food took quite awhile to come and when it did it was cold. We couldn’t even eat it. Unusual as we have had great experiences in the past.
All four of us absolutely loved it! We will be back.
Brunch was wonderful! Everything was delicious!
It was amazing
Great staff and food that is on point
Usually really good. May have been on off night. They were pretty busy and it was really noisy near the kitchen window. One dish was perfect the other (halibut) dish was cold in the center and when it came back the expo/server did not bring back a fork. I will return; however; it may not have dropped a couple of slots on my top go-to spots for now.
Order the baked rigatoni! Time-after-time, it's consistently the best dish we order. Very friendly staff and service. This is one of our favorite restaurants. It's lots of people's favorite neighborhood restaurants - I highly recommend a reservation. Sit outside if the weather is nice!
Excellent food, cocktail and service.
We always love Shells and Sauce but this time was especially amazing because it was Easter and our waiter Logan was amazing! He knew what we needed before we even had to ask. thank you Logan!
Shells and Sauce use to be one of my favorite neighborhood casual restaurants in Denver. Unfortunately, I've had a few too many so/so service experiences, all culminating in a really bad overall experience this past weekend, making it so that I think long and hard before returning. Let me start by saying, the food is consistently good. However, I rated it low this time because I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. I brought my family from out of town in for Easter brunch this weekend in hopes of a lively and delicious meal. Our appetizer came out relatively promptly but after about 50 minutes, our main dishes were nowhere to be seen. Around the 30 minute mark, our server also stopped checking in on the table and was nowhere to be found. At about 55 minutes, our food started to arrive but after one bite, we realized that each dish was cold. Not even luke warm, but cold. Cold eggs. Cold potatoes. Cold chicken fried steak (ick). I never did see our server again. There were other tables that had been seated after us, eaten, and paid before we got our meal. Although the manager did apologize, it was only after he tried to defend the long wait time. We sent the food back and left. Although mistakes happen, it's the way you handle them that makes all the difference. I was disappointed that our server abandoned us when she should have communicated the wait time and done what she could do bridge the gap (I would have loved a water and coffee refill). It was inexcusable that the manager didn't do more to try to remedy the situation in the moment (or even come over during the wait to communicate the backup). I will say that the manager did end up texting me later in the day to apologize and invite me back in (what he should have done in the moment), but due to several other sub-par service experiences there in the past, I think I'd prefer to go somewhere else.
The food was very good, as was the service. My mushroom pasta was delicious. Downstairs was very noisy, but we were able to escape it by eating upstairs. An enjoyable dinner!
The waitress we had was just awful. Also why would you wait until halfway through the meal to mention something ordered for the table wasn’t gluten free. We told her about the allergy and ordered all other GF items. We typically love this place since there is a GF option and it’s pretty good. This was the first time we were disappointed.
Food is always flavorful and ingredients fresh. Had amazing salad with mushrooms. Portions are large which is unusual these days. Took home leftovers and enjoyed another wonderful meal the next day.
Absolutely wonderful. Can’t wait to return.
The food was decent. I had a piece of plastic in my lasagna that the server showed no concern about, nor offered any condolences. Friends of mine had spoken quite highly of Shells and Sauce, but I didn’t have the same experience.
Happy hour food was a great value, excellent service.
Always heard it was great and wasn’t disappointed!
Great food and service!
Service was pleasant. Not crowded. Food is solid- really hit the spot. Loved the shrimp and grits and the cajun stack special (except it was heavy on the andouille sausage, which reminded me more of a hot link. could be a great veg option or could sub out the meat next time).
The only thing lacking were the funnel fries. The thicker ones seemed fluffier. The thinner ones were chewy like the batter was over-worked. I'd actually recommend they serve them with a cinnamon honey butter and actual hot fudge instead of cold (and cheap) chocolate and strawberry syrup.
Terrific brunch menu and delicious, piping hot food. We will return.
My husband and I had the mussels which we're fantastic. I had one of the daily specials, the pork steak with mushroom ravioli and asparagus. The only issue I had was the thickness of the steak. It was huge and hard to chew. But the ravioli and the stuffed shells my husband had were amazing.
Food very good ,service good. The noise level not tolerable, could not carry on any conversation. We were there after Happy hour but did not make any difference and music going also somewhere in the din. It was never this terrible in the past. We will not be back, nor reccomend it.
