Shells and Sauce Ratings and Reviews
Despite making a reservation, we had to wait nearly 45 minutes. Other competitors italian restaurants in the metro area (which i won’t name) will offer a free wine glasses or appetizers while waiting. Nonetheless, the food was good and the portion were enormous. We’ll give them a second and try other options from
We wanted a quick dinner before viewing the Christmas lights at the Botanical Gardens, and found Shells & Sauce on Yelp. Great find! Our waiter was really good, the food was quick and delicious and the atmosphere was very cozy/comfortable. All in all a very nice place.
This was my first time eating at Shells and Sauce. There were 5 in my party. I initially chose this restaurant because it was close to where we needed to be afterwards. We were met by friendly staff who seated us right away to our reserved table. I highly recommend that you make reservations in advance. The place was packed at 5:00. They have one of the best happy hour menus I’ve seen. Ordering something off the HH menu is plenty for dinner. We ordered a couple of items on the HH menu for appetizers and shared some entrees off the dinner menu. Everything was fresh and delicious. Jamie was the best server. He was so friendly and helpful. We really liked the wine he recommended too. Shells and Sauce is a great neighborhood restaurant. I can’t wait to go back! I’ve already told friends about it.
Delicious, melt in your mouth pasta. The staff is friendly and definitely recommend a reservation! Very reasonably priced for the amount of food you will receive. I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant and am looking forward to my next trip to Denver so I can try something else!
My husband and I were a little underwhelmed by our dinner at Shells and Sauce. We had heard great things and were excited to try it out. Maybe it was a case of ordering the wrong things, but we were not overly impressed. We ordered the stuffed shells and got four total- two stuffed with an Italian five cheese mixture, which were very good, and two filled with butternut squash. The squash filled shells were very sweet, and had an odd flavor. Since they comprised half of his dish, my husband was a bit disappointed. It also seemed like disproportionately less food than some of the other plates we saw go out. The pork belly gnocchi was very good, albeit heavy (as one expects pork belly gnocchi might be) and the bread they brought to the table when we sat down was delicious. Some friends have suggested going back and trying other dishes, but I'm not sure it's worth the time or effort. Overall, we had an okay, if lackluster, experience at this restaurant.
crazy busy...had a reservation that we were on time for, still waited 30 minutes to be seated...people just streaming in, and no place to put them...seriously understaffed for a Saturday night. Once seated though, we had an awesome waiter that took really good care of us, and despite the frenzy, was in a very good mood. Food actually came out in a reasonable amount of time, and was delicious. I would love to go back on a quiet night in January!
The restaurant crams as many people in the space as they can. A guest in wheelchair blocked the bar and no one cared! They would not pass a fire inspection and made it difficult to get to your table. Absolutely no place to wait while your table is ready. Our clothes smelled of pasta/garlic.. Food is terrific, but not enough for me to endure the environment.
As advertised, this is a great neighborhood eatery. Excellent food and service. A bit crowded and noisy for my taste, but we were seated upstairs and that was much better. Downstairs there is no entryway or waiting area and I was always stepping aside for the waiters to get past. On a cold evening, it would be unpleasant to sit near the door. Reservations are essential.
This has become my go-to brunch spot. The mimosa carafes are literally a whole bottle of champagne. I honestly haven't eaten here for dinner yet, but I'm sure it's just as fantastic! Do yourself a favor and try the funnel fries and the bananas foster waffles. :)
This was our first visit after hearing about Shells & Sauce for years from friends. It did not disappoint. The food was good and the specials were exceptional. We sat at the end of the upstairs bar and every single person (employee or not) that walked by kicked/ran into our chairs all evening. This was very annoying - even though we tried to move our chairs to be more accommodating. We love restaurants that are family friendly, but there were family groups with children who apparently don't hear their own children acting out for long periods of time. Regardless of continuous glances in their direction, they allowed their children to scream, cry, etc. This really took away from enjoying the wonderful food we had ordered. And I guess this is really true, as here's what I'm writing about several days later - and not the food.
First time dining here for dinner. We weren’t disappointed! So delicious with great service. It’s noisy here, but the staff is great! Make reservations if possible or you might not get a table. Great happy hour menu with decent drink prices. Such fresh and tasty food. We even ordered the amaretto cheesecake to go since we were so full but wanted to try their cheesecake. It was so good! Will definitely be back again.
I love Shells and Sauce! This was my second time eating there in a week. It's a fun neighborhood place and the food is delicious. Everyone in our group loved it. Good flavors and generous portions of food. The wait staff is friendly and professional.
We all loved this place with a couple of exceptions: The kid mac and cheese is for sophisticated kids....Kraft it is not! Also, though my husband thinks I ask too much of restaurants, I asked for the spicy seafood pasta to be made not spicy, but I could barely eat it as my mouth was on fire. I have made this request to other restaurants without issue, but it was a busy night and a special request...Will definitely go back again!
Went here on a Saturday afternoon for a friend's birthday after visiting the Art Museum. The food was fantastic - especially the Eggs Carbonara and Eggplant Parmigiana and the Tiramisu. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, despite the fact that it was a busy time. I highly recommend this place!
