Shells and Sauce Ratings and Reviews
We were looking for a neighborhood restaurant near the hospital to have an Italian meal waiting for traffic to thin before we headed north. Wow! Did we find a winner! Salad and our two entrees were scrumptious and the coffee was just the way we like it-strong,fresh and flavorful. A friendly and attentive waiter made a first time experience wanting us to return.
Met a friend at Shells and Sauce for Sunday Brunch and it was great as always - had the chicken and waffles. Moved out of the neighborhood about a year ago and had not been back since - but was glad to see the food and service was just as good as last time we were there. Will have to make a point to get back to this side of town more often and enjoy this and other restaurants in the area.
This restaurant is amazing! The food is outstanding, every single dish including the bread and dipping sauce. The service is incredible, the staff seems to really care about each and every person. The specials, happy hour and pricing are really good. The only negative is that it is really loud so if you want to have a deep conversation probably not the best place. The energy is phenomenal!!!!
Baa-d experience. We were expecting the noisy chaotic atmosphere that is Shells and Sauce. We enjoyed our prosecco along with great burrata and caprese salads. We were anticipating the great lamb special. We were more than disappointed with very fatty cuts of lamb that were not that tender nor flavorful. The whole plate was over salted - a fried potato patty had large globs of cheese that overwhelmed the taste of this side dish. The prosciutto wrapped asparagus was good. The wine choices we had were great and the flourless chocolate cake was a nice way to finish up the meal. It's just very disappointing when the main star of the meal is not enjoyed. We do like their pasta dishes, so I'd recommend sticking with these!!
We think this was close to thirty visits to Shells and Sauce and is our go to spot when friends come to town, our family gets together, or someone says "your pick". The food never disappoints and the staff is warm and friendly. The best part is the generous portion sizes which means we are going to have leftovers!
Came at 2p, was right before the kitchen closed but they were accommodating and patient. We didn't feel rushed at all, and our server asked if we needed anything else as the kitchen was closing and that was very appreciated if we had any last minute items we wanted to put in. We missed the brunch crowd so it wasn't too packed or noisy. The Vesuvio was delicious as always and the mimosa carafe was just enough for 2 people. Thanks again!
Service was wonderful and helpful with questions. We were seated upstairs (a little chilly when the air kicked on but not bad) and could look out over the neighborhood. The food was amazing!! The stuffed shells duo entree was rich and delicious. The wild mushroom sacchetti had excellent flavors. Fresh, warm bread was served quickly with a great creamy, balsamic dipping sauce.
We usually don’t do dessert but decided to splurge on the made in-house offerings and were not disappointed. The flourless chocolate cake was wonderfully moist with some Frangelico to take it up a notch and the cheesecake was to die for. We will definitely be back for ourselves and to bring friends!
Make sure you have a reservation! Great Italian food that's family friendly. The place is always busy. In nice weather, the patio is open... Sit there for a Denver experience. Indoors is really loud and crowded. Food is always a hit. This has become our go-to place to eat.
I hate recommending this restaurant, because every time I do, it sets off a new wave of popularity and reservations become harder to get. It is the quintessential neighborhood red sauce go-to, with some twists to keep thinks interesting. When it is just the two of us, we usually opt for the bar where it is not uncommon to run into a neighbor or two. I will not tell you who our server was because he is busy enough and we almost couldn't get him this time. Suffice it to say that everyone is professional and friendly, the food is always tasty and you are sure to be satisfied!
Maybe it was a bad night for shells and sauce but the food was just ok to blah! I ordered eggplant parm and it just was not good. Way too bready! The spaghetti they served with it was cold .
Pizza was just so average that my 8 year old didn't finish it and didn't want to take it home!
My grandchildren loved their spaghetti and meatballs. My daughter and I enjoyed the butternut stuffed shells. Next time we want to see about getting all butternut shells.
They were very accommodating to the grandkids by offering to bring their meals first.
Definitely will return when we are in the area.
We found shells and sauce on yelp after a long day at the museum with the kids. Maria warmly greeted us and seated us promptly. She met the needs of my kiddos right away. We ordered pretty much the entire happy hour menu and small bites options as well as cocktails ( we were at the museum all day after all 🙂!). The food was fantastic as was our server Maria. We would definitely go back!
Dined with friends for Sunday brunch. The shrimp grits was fantastic, would recommend to try once if you have not yet. Reservation are a must; we had reservations for 10:15a and within 30 minutes the restaurant was filled up. The restaurant is medium size so our table for 5 was a bit cramped amount the other tables. Also, it does get very loud inside once filled with people but that did not stop us from enjoying our food. Since my friends live around the corner (and it's their neighborhood place to hang out), I'm sure I will be back again.
Very nice dinner with family. Online reservation for a Saturday night was perfect-walked right in & seated immediately. Waiter was very attentive. Offered suggestions for wine & dinner which we were very pleased with. Large portions of all the entrees. We had the rigatoni, ravioli & spaghetti with meatballs & sausage. All we very well prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Parents were in town and my mom loves this place. We eat here whenever they come to town and then at least 2 to 3 times a year in addition. The food is always incredible the service is always great. This place is a hidden gem. Make a reservation though cause they are always busy. Never been for brunch but i am sure its delish.
We had a reservation and there was absolutely no waiting for our table even though the place as extremely busy. The service was excellent and our friends we took to dinner had never been there and loved it! The food was incredible and we loved our server who took great care of us.
Maria, our server, was so attentive and informative about the menu. The special pork tenderloin was EXCELLENT and the buratta salad was simple and delicious. The linguini and clams was a bit salty but had great flavor. I recommend this for a lovely weeknight meal in the neighborhood. I’ll be back for sure.
