Shells and Sauce
Why go to a chain Italian restaurant when a place like Shells and Sauce offers so much more in terms of food quality, ambiance and great service? Our meals were made to perfection and the portions were very generous. No cutting corners here on the quality of ingredients that go into their food. Our server Lucy was amazing and assured that our every need was met.
Great food, friendly, efficient service, I highly recommend Shells and Sauce! Plus, it's Italian food without too much garlic!
We came in for a girls brunch and we all shared our plates with each other and loved every bit of each dish! Food was amazing - Waitress was amazing!! We plan on being back soon!!
I have only been here for brunch, but both the selection and range of food was superb. The service wasn't anything special, but considering how busy it was, I was totally satisfied. We left already looking forward to our next chance to visit.
Great food and service
Our group visited early happy hour and sat outside. It was very pleasant!
The check in procedure was a little disorganized. No one there or monitoring the door. We were still waiting to be seated when the check in person went to a couple that came in after us and seated them.
We were looking for a nice place to eat on or last night of our family in Colorado, and Shells and Sauce did not disappoint. We had two kids order from the expansive kids menu. Both enjoyed their food and were satisfied with the portion size. The adult food was excellent. Best chicken parm I have had in a while
Good food, reasonably priced, great waiter, Logan.
Great birthday dinner for our son-in-law. Great food, great service!
We've been going to Shells and Sauce for about four years as we used to live just down the block. This was our first visit in a year or so and while we noticed some price increases for both food and drink, we totally understood those and want our one of our favorite restaurants to succeed and pay its employees a livable wage. We'll keep coming back!
Delicious, comfortable neighborhood spot.
Shells and Sauce was, as always, delicious. We went for a late Friday night dinner date. The lights above us were flickering annoyingly, everything else was great. My boyfriend had the ziti style ravioli, I had the carbonara tortellini. I always joke with him that I should just order whatever he orders here because I always like it better. That was the case on Friday. The carbonara tortellini was delicious, I'm just a wuss when it comes to anything spicy. The ziti ravioli was delicious. I also had the pineapple caipirinha, which was just perfect, tangy and not too sweet. I love this place, the food is always delicious and you can actually hear the person or people you are there with. No, I'm not a crotchety old lady, I'm a crotchety millennial. Try it, you'll love it.
I celebrated my 36th birthday with friends, including 3 children. The service was so friendly, and accommodating - I requested the top floor and had a special space set up for me. The food was a close home-cooking dish with HUGE portions (come hungry & ready be prepared for leftovers). A big favorite was the drink recommendation - a lavender peach sangria, created by our server! Go if you’re hungry and miss GOOD Italian food.
Great food and people.
Everything was great but it was disappointing that the belated birthday I mentioned in my reservation was not acknowledged. It was the sole reason for dining out that night.
Great little nook if you’re looking to try Italian. Good ambiance.
S & S is consistently good. The best tomato sauce I've ever tasted. Professional, well-trained staff. Nice neighborhood feel. They also have the best breakfasts I've had in Denver.
I loved the pasta dish I got, but the lasagna was not our favorite (very meaty and kind of dry). Delicious wine and yummy apps!
Initially the person who brought our water seemed very unhappy and annoyed. Our waitress was fine but she seemed tired and a little bored with the process. It was quite loud, one bathroom (of two) was out of order. Just not our usual experience with shells and sauce. A little bummed.
Excellent service, server made great suggestions and he was very personable and fun, excellent food! We will definitely go again!!!
We got the primavera and the stuffed shells.
The bread served before dinner was delicious. Oregano bread, nice and fluffy. The balsamic sauce they serve with it could do with a little less vinegar - careful if you’re a sauce lover, less is more with this one.
The primavera vegetables were salty and delicious but overall the dish was pretty bland.
With regards to the stuffed shells, the sweet potato ones were amazing. The mixture of goat cheese and sweet potato creates a soft sweet flavor. On the other hand, the 4 cheese one was just kind of eh. We thought it sort of had a plastic aftertaste.
We were completely stuff but still opted for the flourless chocolate cake. The description mentioned raspberry sauce but our piece was served with chocolate sauce instead for some reason. The cake itself was dense but so rich and delicious. Overall we loved this cake; however the edge was rock solid and a little burnt tasting, so a few bad bites.
Wouldn’t go out of my way to return, but there are other promising sounding entrees I would like to try.
Chris Farnan good to know now
Lasagna was amazing. Staff was extremely friendly. Looking forward to taste the entire menu. I will be going back for sure:)
We got a great seat by the open garage door, which was awesome as the sun was setting. The waiter was right on in his recommendations for wine and food. Yummy! Will definitely return.
We sat upstairs which was a bit hot but weather was not on their side that night. They ran out of the calamari appetizer and that was the reason why I chose the restaurant. It was a big bummer. Pasta entrees were a bit pricey but very good. Lasagna was huge. Would have loved all dishes served hot. They came to table at room temperature.
Our first dinner @ this restaurant. Staff were very helpful, food was almost not eatable. Wine was watery, Loud environment, Saturday night very busy, Menu price points high, many other Italian restaurant choices with better food and environment.
Don't bother reading more posts and trying to mull over your options. This is the place you want to spend your evening at surrounded with mouth watering food and excellent service. Your biggest decision will be whether to go with the special as well as a pasta entree! And as far as the Bread Pudding is concerned, don't think twice! A huge shout out to Logan who is hands down one of the best parts of coming to Shells and Sauce!
The food was amazing as usual.
Lucy & Charlie are top shelf servers.
We will return!!!
Brunch was spectacular!
Cheap mimosas and bloodys, great food, awesome staff. Be prepared to bring half your food home with you!
Food was excellent, service left something to be desired.
We went for happy hour. They have some great happy hour wine and food specials. Dinner and services was very good.
We go to S & S about once a month. Our waiter was the best, very attentive yet didn’t hover around our table. We sat in the back corner this time and it’s extremely loud. Dirty plates, utensils get dumped in the side area and it is loud enough to hurt your ears. I think one of the waitresses was having a bad day and taking out on the dirty dishes. Along with the music and the loud crowd it got to be very noisy. Bread is great. Food was good.
One of my favorite places to go. Our server (Jamie) was very friendly and made our dinning experience memorable.
Terrible service. Everything took forever.
Went for happy hour. Very pleased with happy hour pricing and variety.
The food was very good and I've added this restaurant as a place to come back to when I'm Denver.
Definitely recommend!!! Best hidden gem in the Cheesman Park neighborhood :)
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had! Amazing brunch menu, reasonably priced, wonderful waitstaff, our favorite restaurant in Congress Park by far!
