Shells and Sauce
Attentive server with spot-on suggestions. Had the Seared Shrimp with Lobster Ravioli Special & the Mushroom Sacchetti, pillowy, pasta bundles filled w mushrooms in a truffle broth. Both entrees a hit served with freshly baked bread, perfect for dipping into the entree sauces. Did not care for the balsamic dipping sauce for the bread.
Good, high quality, reliable Italian.
We went to Shells and Sauce based on their advert on Yelp that they had a rooftop deck. I even put a note in the reservation that that was what was bringing us in so we could be sure to be seated there. When we arrived I find there is not a roof top deck. There was at one time but it has been closed in . So we were seated outside on the sidewalk 5' from the bus stop. Not acceptable.
Happy hour specials enjoyed on the patio. Service and food are always great!
The food at Shells & Sauce is certainly very good. We love the fact that they have a broad variety of gluten free options. Unfortunately this time, that was the cause of our less than perfect evening. A portion of our order appeared to have been forgotten, and when our server quickly departed to “check on it” (put the order in), we believe it was entered as the gluten version. When the order arrived, my husband even commented about the sauce and what it was thickened with. We were assured it was gluten free. However, just like celiac clockwork, the bloating, cramps and discomfort arrived later that night.
Oddly enough, when we opened the container of leftovers the next day, there was very little sauce present, even though the bowl the night before had quite a bit remaining.
I know nothing that happened was intentional, but unfortunately it made the experience very unpleasant.
The food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone that worked there was very nice and friendly.
Wonderful meal, as usual. Jaime waited on us and was very attentive and helpful!
Excellent food and wine! I will definitely be back. 😊
Wait staff went by our table numerous times throughout the dinner without stopping to inquire about anything. It took nearly 20 minutes to receive the check after asking for it. Meanwhile, she was helping other customers. We had not asked for anything special during our meal except for GF options, which our friend did not believe they were GF, as she was sick after eating there.
Chicken Parm and Lobster ravioli, shrimp & King Crab legs special was super. Took some home to have space for the fabulous Tiramisu😋
We live in the neighborhood and have been coming to Shells and Sauce since you opened! Our dinner, as always, was delicious!!! My husband's birthday is this weekend and Jamie brought the lemoncello cheese cake to our table with a candle for our dessert!!! Jamie is the best!!! We'll be back!
A great little restaurant. Perfect for after visiting the Botanical Gardens because it's very close.
Food was delicious and I love when restaurants serve hot bread. We loved the energy and positive ambiance. Server was very attentive yet discreet.
First of all, the food was outstanding and the service was very good! Our only problem with the evening was where we were seated. The place was packed and the 4 of us were crammed in a really tight area. So tight that some of us had to get up in order to allow people at the next table to get out of there seats. We were seated downstairs and room was so loud it was hard to hear each other talk. I think seating upstairs offers a better experience. Even when crowded, the noise is not overwhelming. We’ll be back - the food was that good!
Shells and Sauce is my favorite restaurant. The food is delicious (and reasonably priced), and the service is great. I feel very lucky to be within walking distance.
We love S&S ... Best Italian in the city.
What a wonderful restaurant to return to over and over and every time, you feel it is home. Love it! Never disappointed.
I enjoyed the ambiance and the waiter was pleasant. I thought the website stated 25.00 for 2 was an average for 2 people. Turned out that was not the case. My food was good but not served hot enough. My date felt his food was served at room temperature as well and should have been much warmer.
Great service, we had a table waiting for us even though we were early. Our server was awesome. The food was delicious and everyone was happy.
Wonderful food, if a little pricey. Great happy hour, throughout the place, which is nice. Brick walls really amplify the noise.
We love the place.
The only negative is a sound system that could be played at a reduced decibel level.
We live in the neighborhood and have been coming to Shells and Sauce for years...ever since they opened! We have never really had a bad experience!
The other night, I ordered the pizza. It was mostly BLACK on the bottom...so I didn't really eat much.
Best lasagna EVER! The service was great and all four of us enjoyed what we ordered.
Seated promptly, excellent service, friendly staff, tasty food and more than generous portions, excellent value.
Excellent (and cheap!) mimosas, and bloody Mary's so thick it's like an alcoholic gazpacho (in a good way). Food is excellent. Huge portions so be prepared to carry a box home.
Shells and Sauce is one of my favorite places for happy hour. The food is always very good. The servers are friendly and attentive.
It was really noisy!! But the food was good and the service was great!
We have been to this restaurant several times and have been pleased. Unfortunately this last visit, Mother’s Day, was not a 5 star rating. They forgot my moms order and they gave us check before she was even offered any coffee. We had a 12:30 reservation and so I felt like towards the end they were rushing to have us out by 2.
The food is sensational and definitely worth the visit. The salads are extremely tasty and big enough to split among 3-4 people. For entrees, the salmon was on the smaller side and the chicken Marsala was ok, but the pastas were delicious. Also, the desserts are a cant miss.
Where the night took a turn for the worst is that it took us 2.5 hours to complete dinner even with a reservation. Our waiter was extremely inattentive (even had to ask for water and menus) and that definitely took away from the deliciousness of the food.
Also, the restaurant can get very loud so if you’re adverse to that know this might not be for you.
Because the food was so good and I’m hoping that the service blunders were just an isolated incident, I still give this a 4/5 stars.
Food and service were great! What was best was food was hot! Bread, pasta, bread pudding 🥰
I celebrated my birthday with my family from Denver and the whole experience was wonderful. Jim
Love this place. It reminds of a restaurant you would find tucked away in New York or Boston. I love the fact that it doesn’t feel “corporate” like so many Denver eateries are these days.
Very good food and ambiance. Really enjoyed it! The service is great and Inhope to be back soon.
Unfortunately, we decided to go on “prom night”. None of the kids were a problem, it was just a bit hectic with so many of them. We did wait a bit longer than normal for a bit of bread but, we got our cocktails in no time so it was an easy wait. My husband ordered the Carbonara with chicken and I ordered the Piccata with chicken. Both dishes were wonderful as was the wine we ordered with dinner. We split an order of cannoli for dessert and they were delicious. Our waiter was terrific! I couldn’t help notice how patient and friendly he was with a huge table of high school kids. I’m so sorry I don’t remember his name!! This is a great neighborhood place and we look forward to going there again!!
Too noisy main level, just right second floor
My shrimp Spinoza dish was too spicy for me but I had Bednar warned!
Great service and prompt when we needed to make a show
This place continues to perform on a top notch level. Took a huge group of twelve and every single one said they will be returning.
It's always a pleasure to go to Shells and Sauce. Never disappoints.
This is a place I rave about to friends. I’ve tried many things off the menu and there hasn’t been a thing that wasn’t well presented, described as served, and delicious. My latest “You MUST try it!” dish is the stuffed shells.
