   After making a reservation we were guilted into making the choice for the staff, to force them to put tables together for us, as they were already helping one other party. The party was large. But there were no other diners in the restaurant portion. We had a 6 year old so the pub was not available to the 4 of us. The hostess offered, QUITE begrudgingly, to put tables together in a different grand dining room area, but she offered this in such a way that made me cringe, and feel as though we were inconvenience. We didn't want to be any trouble, we just wanted dinner for 4 on a Tuesday night in Long Beach. We went to the Depot, which by comparison, is much smaller. Yet some how with fewer people and less space, we were accommodated easily, even though they were packed.

   What a gem of a place!! Everything was excellent. Our room was super comfortable and clean with sustainable bath products. Every item of our dinner menu was outstanding, and the cocktails were scrumptious with locally distilled spirits. We really enjoyed playing pool and shuffle board in a beautiful, historic ambience. The service was really friendly too. We will certainly visit here again!!

   We had Thanksgiving dinner here 10 years ago when the restaurant was an elegant, Victorian dining room. Post-Covid and change of ownership, the lovely dining area is now a games room and the dining area is now in the bar. There’s still a pleasant, quiet ambiance and stained glass windows, but gone are the sumptuous baskets of freshly baked bread and culinary treats on the menu. The shift is to pub fare. The hostess, waitress, and mixologist offered excellent, efficient, friendly service. I ordered absinthe for an after-dinner drink, and it was delightful to watch the care with which it was prepared in true 19th c. style. The carrot soup, topped with crème fraiche, was aromatic and creamy. The cheese plate was uninspired. Our wish is that this historic, well-appointed establishment can find its way back to its former days as a full-service restaurant destination.

   Staff is friendly and the food was great! I highly recommend the crispy braised pork with blackberry gastrique, polenta and braised chard. I do hope that there are plans to open up the main dining area again.

   Cool old pub unfortunately we were seated in the lobby in flimsy chairs and uneven tables. Food was good but a little overpriced.

    Beautiful intimate atmosphere. The lighting is just right and the heavy carved wood bar makes a lovely centerpiece to the room. The meal was excellent as was the service. My only disappointment was the cafeteria quality tables and chairs. The elegant room really calls out for wooden tables and chairs more in keeping with the style of the dark wood of the bar.

    Food was finally fabulous, but think something must have come undone in the kitchen and waitstaff. We got the wrong meals, mine was cold, we waited 10 minutes to get water or someone to wait on us. I really love this place so was surprised and disappointed as I took good friends as a treat. However, our wait staff (didn't get her name) was VERY apologetic and comped a desert. I'll go back and hope they get the wrinkles ironed out.

    Wanted to go somewhere with a cozy and intimate setting, and the Shelburne Pub was the perfect place. The decor is full of history and the music makes you feel like you are in another time. The staff is very friendly and even comped a dessert for another table when a glitch with the computer system had messed up their order. Onto the food, I had the steak frites which was delicious, and my fiancée had the shepherds pie which was also amazing. I tried the classic absinthe for my drink, and I recommend stopping by just for that. This is a quaint setting perfect for a date!

    Mediocre service (although very friendly), terrible food but a wonderful time visiting with a very tolerant Santa! And I am COMPLETELY opposed to them tacking on the living wage fee of almost 20% and then they do not pass it all on to the server (in fact the Shelburne takes the larger share of that!). I would visit again only for the breakfast with Santa and if they had the same wonderful Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

    We had a great Thanks Giving dinner here. The only issue was that there was some sort of miscommunication among the staff regarding who our server would be. Once that was cleared up everything was great.

    My husband had the crispy braised pork with polenta and greens with a blackberry gastrique. It was fantastic. I had the burger and again it was absolutely delicious. I thought the fries were a little too crispy for my taste, but everything else was scrumptious. The bartender was making a halloween drink and asked my husband if he'd like to try it on the house, he did and loved it. Great choice overall.

    Sadly, this place has really gone downhill. The food was very average, the drinks were also average. The service was really off, the servers were arguing with each other, and the timing of how all the courses were served was really bad. Wish it was better, they really shouldn’t be trying to be a “high end dining” experience…just really great pub food and drinks

    We had a delightful supper in the pub room. The Cocktail for a Cause was great. Had a starter of oysters based in garlic butter, a light version of escargot. The miso coated sablefish was so tender.

    We made late reservations and were thrilled to grab the last table on the outdoor deck on a beautiful evening with live music. We had great service and the food was yummy, particularly the clams. The beet chips weren't stellar, but everything else was. We would have had more wine if they didn't run out - that was a little surprising since we were drinking the house cab. We would return here in a heartbeat for the food and any night with live music. The only thing that bothered me were the all-gender bathrooms. There are state guidelines when creating all-gender bathrooms and one of those things is that the individual stalls must be floor to ceiling. The management needs to change that! I would not recommend bringing children or teens for this reason, or lock the main door to the bathroom. Putting "all gender" signs on a bathroom does not create the same experience as a properly designed all-gender bathroom.

    We went on New Years Eve and chose this restaurant based on their menu - looked fabulous. Upon arriving, they had a very limited menu of 4 entrees, a couple salads and soups, a few desserts and no appetizers!!! When ordering wine by the glass, they were out of several and left only a few to choose from - I can understand them being out closer to midnight, but this was at 6:30 pm... The entrees were steak, seafood fettuccini, crab cakes and a vegetarian meal. No fresh grill or baked fish, oysters, clams at all. My wife had a Caesar salad. She could not finish it due to the overloaded anchovies they used in the dressing. I had the fettuccini which was under seasoned, but the seafood in it was cooked just right. The crab cakes were good. We did not want dessert since nothing sounded good. Overall, it was a pricey disappointment of a meal. Maybe on a typical evening it would have been fabulous.

    Excellent décor places you at the time that the Peninsula was first being developed. The food meets modern standards while showcasing the local, sustainable resources which have been unchanged during the history of the Inn. It's like using a time machine-but without the accumulated dust and cobwebs. Desserts are always outstanding so leave room to indulge.

    Service was impeccable. Made us feel special with greeting and attention by owner throughout dinner on Christmas. Food was delicious, right size, and healthy. Superb wine list. Still the best dining experience on peninsula for us. Happy New Year.

    We love this place. David is a culinary genius. The bar is always great with great bartenders. Breakfasts come with the hotel stays with lots of options. The first breakfast I had was biscuits and gravy. This was different than any biscuits and gravy I've ever had and they were spectacular. The second breakfast I had was the hang town fry. Oysters I love em. For dinner I had a double order of pan fried oysters...wonderful. My wife had the crab ravioli she loved em.

    Way to expensive for the dishes that were offered. I think they are taking advantage of being the only "nice" restaurant in the area. Waiter dropped the ball a couple of times. Also, made a reservation on Open Table and noted it was my husbands birthday, and told the waiter also, and received no free birthday dessert or just candle on the dessert we did order and pay for.

    I love this place and go there very often for Breakfast, Lunch and in the Pub with good local beer and wine and they serve there too with nice crafted fresh local food. They raise their own herbs too. David the owner is always there to service too and what a great humor and friend he is. Every one there is freindly and accomodating. The hotel is great, you have to go see the rooms for they are open to look see. Each is individual and set to a cuzy period with history and antiques and the most comfortable beds. This is a couples romantic Inn. Just down a staircase from upper rooms or the lower rooms, you can enter the bar or setting room to read or just hag out or go into the dinning room. This is a Home Type environment Inn. THIS IS A GEM>>>
