Shelbourne Social by Dylan McGrath
We were sat in the area with the lower ceiling and it was difficult to hear each other at times. Food was lovely - however, the portions of the starters were inconsistent as they were for sharing - four starters were too much but it was included in the price - should work that better!
Food was good but service was very slow although staff were very polite and engaging and they made us feel very welcome. Waited 45 minutes after being seated before we eventually got a first drink and another 10 mins later before our order was taken. Long waits between us finishing courses and plates being cleared, multiple service staff looking after our table so no one knew who ordered which dish. Would I go back, yes, but quite underwhelmed with the overall experience, we were expecting something a bit better for the price
Nice new restaurant, modern and trendy. All waiters were very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere wasn’t great, as the restaurant is quite big with few tables occupied. Food was distinctly average, despite having a different menu to most places out there now. Pistachio and lemon cake was tasteless.
Really enjoyable evening. Excellent Food, great service and buzzy atmosphere!!!
The food was very average but at high quality prices. There were a number of things which they had run out of.
Without doubt the most confusing menu I’ve encountered, had no idea what dishes had to be shared etc. The waitress agreed it was very confusing and it was her role to make it less so. She didn’t, was more interested in upselling and barely came near us after taking the initial order, only to tell us they were sold out of oysters. At 7pm.
She also neglected to mention that we needed to order sides for our main, another waiter noticed and said he’d bring us a selection. He brought us a bowl of fries after we had finished our mains. Our bill came with a main left off, assume it was an error as they charged for the fries and I hadn’t even complained at that stage, we overheard other people doing so though. We left our money on the table, don’t think the staff even noticed we were leaving, they certainly had no interest in saying goodbye or seeing if we enjoyed our meal. Shame as the food was pretty good, but will never return to that restaurant and have heard similar stories since...
As a regular customer of fade street social I kind of knew I wouldn’t be disappointed, food was amazing. Thanks
Thank you for a lovely dinner my children loved it I’m more of a plain eater but thank god my kids are different the staff who served us were amazing
The service was excellent- food also very good
Top notch food - delicious scallops, amazing mash potato and scrumptious picanha steak
Fantastic food and great staff
As always: delicious food and lovely service! We'll be back again
Excellent evening as usual.
Love this place.
Always great to come at Shelbourne Social.
The waiter said he would help us with the menu It is a sharing menu There were 3 of us and we ordered too much food The prawn casserole read well but was tasteless The pork belly was good
We ordered one desert for my son it was his birthday and it was not served with the ‘ the Birthday Plate ‘ It was expensive €200 for 3 excluding a tip and with Shared Breads and pate for starter and just 2 mains and 1 desert
Not good value for money would not recommend
Hands down the best food I’ve ever had in Dublin, so so delicious. Staff are super friendly, charismatic and helpful also.
The service is outstanding! Our waitress had extensive knowledge of the menu and was extremely friendly! We really really enjoyed our food, the salmon starter was delicious, the chateaubriand was unbelievably tasty and so were the wyagu potatoes! The cocktail range had an interesting mix also. The restaurants complimentary prosecco and desert for our anniversary was a beautiful touch which in turn will have us remembering the place even more! We can’t wait to go back and bring our friends and family to experience the amazing food and staff!!!
Amazing staff , food and cocktails :)
Great lunch and service, will definitely be back. Lovely surroundings.
Great meal .. One small complaint was that the steak knives were brutal ..
Great place for lunch - food was good - even if it came a bit quick and service was excellent. I had the cod which was delicious. Great wine list well priced
First time here ... will be back!
It was a lovely simple menu for brunch. The food was tasty and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely return.
Fantastic staff and really nice food. Cocktail bar upstairs is an added bonus.
Amazing food and great atmosphere and service. Can only fault the slow drink service.
Practically empty on a Thursday eve for early bird menu. Food, although superb, is far too expensive for early bird...€35 for 2 courses then tag on sides.... €15 for side dish of broccoli with buratto??? Food is as good in Etto but not as good value. Waiting staff and host are wonderful. Ambience can’t be judged when place is empty, but it is a lovely room. Shame.
Exceptionally well-prepared food, but our steak, which was sliced up, ended up being pretty rare versus medium and it got cold very quickly. The rest of the meal was pretty impeccable, along with the superb level of service.
It was a beautiful meal. Everything was lovely.
Good early bird food , superb burger and fries
It was a nice atmosphere and nice to try for dinner but I wouldn't rush back. I went for hummus as my starter and i can only describe the taste as unsettling but couldn't put my finger on what made it that way! I didn't eat it. Burger was fine. My partner had salmon starter which was a little small but portion of cod for main made up for it. Overall it was fine....
Had dinner five times already (in just two months) and we haven't been let down yet by anything on the menu.
Consistently good and refreshingly "new" dishes.
The early dinner menu is good value (remember to ask for it).
Will come back.
We had an already very late reservation (21:15), we were seated at the bar when we got there (at 21:10).
By 21:40 our table was still not ready so we've chosen to order a couple of dishes while sitting at the bar upstairs.
Waiter was very pushy for us to order wine, to order "maybe a nice rib-eye steak" when our main course was already fish.
The other times we went there, we found a very energetic young hostess, who managed to make our dining experience truly memorable, but unfortunately she wasn't there this time.
Food is great, as always.
With fade st. and rustic stone being two favourites of of mine, this fell way short of the mark. Booked for a pre-gig early bird on a friday and service was extremely relaxed for the price point and what I've come to expect from these restaurants. Food was mediocre at best bar an excitingish hummus and I had to wait a painfully long while as many servers walked past my drink on the counter before it arrived at my table (this when there were only three tables sat in the restaurant). Poor
Lunch with my wife and a friend. Meet and greet was spot on.The offer of complimentary sparkling water to start off set the tone for the rest of the lunch.Nothing was too much trouble.Florian explained the make-up of two of the dishes which we enquired about. I had the duck leg with pasta which was great. The ladies mixed and matched the burger and a pasta dish which were both sublime. Three spoons and two desserts later-happy out. Great atmosphere.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the service was impeccable as always. One of my favourite places to eat in Dublin - couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
I feel it’s an experience to be “experienced “ I’m a huge fan of fade street social & much prefer its menu.
I felt the menu is slightly over ambitious, and maybe tailored to chefs liking rather than that of the consumer.
I really enjoyed the experience but I’m sorry fade street has it all....
Ps. I really think it’s no harm for the service staff to write down food order, as it will definitely help to omit mistakes been made, like forgetting my starter! (Which I ended up not getting as mains had arrived) service staff were really nice, I’m not “giving out”, I couldn’t, as they could do no more.
Best of luck. 😊
Fantastic place! Great vibe, amazing staff and amazing food! Recommend highly!
We were a group of 4. Very good food. Imaginative approach to ingredients. Perfect for a group sharing a number of dishes. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Good, varied wine list, with many reasonably priced wines. Beautifully decorated dining room, felt chic and cozy.
Service wasn't professional. Menu was v limited/niche. need more variety.
Our first visit was not disappointing we had an amazing meal service was excellent. We had been recommended to you restaurant by my son in law who has heard good reports. We were visiting Dublin as a birthday treat for my husband and can assure you we were not disappointed. Thank you to all the people who attended to us. You certainly have an excellent restaurant.
The noise level is quite high
Not an intimate place
So so friendly especially Brian .... what a super guy
Nothing was a problem
Good wine list and super service
Hoping to get their outdoor area going
We had a lovely meal at Shelbourne Social. The service was brilliant and the food was excellent. They also offer lovely mocktails! Will definitely return.
In regards to layout having the kitchen door in between seating wasn’t ideal at all seemed like a lot of fuss back and forward. We were seated at right at the door initially which was a strange seat overall to have as very open and sitting beside the door wouldn’t be ideal especially coming into the winter months. Arranging that different maybe close off the booth as it’s nice to sit by the window.
