The wood-fire oven is central to both the menu and the dining experience, from the incredible homemade, wood-fired pita to vegetable-centric small plates and heartier entrees. Many of the dishes on the diverse menu are meant to be shared and enjoyed throughout many courses.

Parking in the designated lot next to the building was extremely difficult. Once in the lot, you needed to back out to the street. Tight spaces and ended up with scratches on my car. Awful! Did not enjoy our evening after our encounter in the parking.
The waiter was knowledgeable about gluten free and I had no trouble eating.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Each dish was prepared masterfully, and the flavor, texture and blend of ingredients was remarkable. The ambience was perfect for wonderful conversation, and the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the product. I would recommend this place to anybody!
Not what it once was, but at the same price.
Delicious food! Can’t wait to go back when I’m next in Nola
One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had! The food is absolutely delicious and the service was excellent.
Limited menu.
The food was outstanding!!
Amazing food
Such a fabulous meal! Made it twice on our long weekend in Nola, it was THAT good!!
Really enjoyed the food and service. The fried chicken topped hummus was memorable. Tasty lamb Kofta. Loved the abundant fresh baked pita. The only shortfall is the Shakshuka which was a bit salty and lacked any distinctive flavors. Would go back and try other dishes.
We had a fantastic dinner at Shaya! The food was fantastic and the waiter was especially helpful in helping to navigate the menu.
Great food, knowledgeable server, nice ambiance
Thoughtful and well executed cocktails, a menu that makes you want to try EVERYTHING and a wine list that is both approachable and full of gems BTG.
Our only touch point that felt off was the sense of disengagement from the bartender. He was present and helping people, but it felt more like a chore than anything else...absolutely no smile or sense of passion. Compare that to our table server that evening and it would be night and day!
Great table service with a feeling of close by but never intrusive. He had a great knowledge of the menu and really helped to be our guide as we made our selections.
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience! We're always updating and adding to both the food and cocktail menus, and we hope you'll return soon. Don't forget hapy hour M-F from 3-6pm with half priced hummus and wines by the glass! All the best, Roger Eyles Manager Shaya Restaurant
Loud unpleasant music.
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. We regret to hear that the ambiance was not to your liking. We do our best to provide a space that all guests will enjoy, but unfortunately seem to have missed the mark for you. We hope that the food and service were enjoyable at your visit and that you may consider returning in the future. All the best, Roger Eyles, Manager
Our meal was great and Liz, our server, was knowledgable, helpful, attentive and friendly! Will definitely return. Late lunch is a good time to visit; it’s not as busy as an evening meal so you can take your time. Plus, not too loud!
Great food and service in inviting warm environments
Excellent food.
Food was fabulous, but we were a little disappointed with service. Ran out of vodka we were drinking and waiter didn’t help by letting us try a new brand.
Shaya is a standout restaurant. The food is outstanding! Everything is so fresh and delicious. One of my new favorite restaurants!
Everything was delicious! We especially loved the shakshuka and hummus. The cauliflower and Israeli salad were a hit. Haven’t had pita like that since i was in Israel!
Every single aspect of this experience- from being greeted at the door, grabbing a drink at the bar, sitting with my friends, and THE FOOD THE FOOD THE FOOD was amazing. The ONLY possible very slight comment is that the bartender was a little indifferent.... just not very smiley. Other than that- perfection in every way.
Amazing!!!
This was an amazing experience...food was outstanding and the variety of menu choices is wonderful. We had a group of 5 and everyone loved each dish. Highly recommend for an incredible meal. Our staff was attentive and helped with choosing dishes. We absolutely LOVED it!
My Birthday! I was so very disappointed! Of all the great restaurants in New Orleans, I chose Shaya to celebrate my birthday with my family!
The food was pretty good but the service was unacceptable!
Our service , I believe his was David, was not attentive to us at all. He only became excessively attentive after we had to track down other waiters for assistance. I will do a full review on Yelp because I am an elite Yelper. It all boils down to the fact that I birthday celebration was horrible and I wasn’t even acknowledged with a simple “happy Birthday “! The waiter didn’t even offer the dessert menu so we could sing Happy Birthday! My husband mentioned to him that it was my birthday and he ignored him... if he couldn’t hear him then that tells you how much he was even paying attention to us. Everyone else at the table hear him. I was so looking forward to Shaya but this experience put such a negative and ugly shadow on what was supposed to be a joyous occasion!
Dissatisfied and Disappointed!
From the wine to the hummus, the shareable plates to the fresh neverending pita from the oven, Shaya offers a delicious meal and a great evening out. If you’re new to Israeli food or celebrate Middle Eastern cuisine regularly, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of food, the knowledge staff, and the affordability of the experience. Enjoy!
My daughter and I wanted to try this place due to the high star rating- we both enjoy trying out new foods and the menu was very unique. We ordered 3 small plates and the halloumi. We really enjoyed all of it. We had plenty to eat, as well as a specialty tea and our bill was under 40! The homemade pita bread was fabulous- and she had fun watching the cook make them in the fire pit oven in the back of the restaurant. We will definitely return, as my 15 year old says this is her new favorite restaurant! Darren, our server, was attentive- and patient with our questions. I can’t think of a better experience I’ve had at a restaurant. It will be a great memory. Thank you!
The food was extraordinary. The flavors were astonishing. The portions were extremely large. We were guided very well by the wait staff. Two appetizers and one main dish was sufficient for the two of us.
Shaya presented an amazing menu of tasty food. I totally enjoyed the lamb ragu as well as the another dish. The cocktails were on point. Unfortunately the service was not to par. The waitress was forgetful and our food was a bit cold when we received it. I still would go back because of the food and would hope that it was just an off day for the young lady.
Came here for my 4 year anniversary and everything was absolutely perfect! Great food and great service. Loved it!
Very unique twist on Mediterranean cuisine. Our server was outstanding and really helped us make our selections. The food was excellent and we always head to Shaya when we are in New Orleans. I suggest a reservation.
We were visiting from out of town and were so glad we ventured out of the French Quarter to Shaya. The food was incredible! And our server was sweet as can be. Can’t recommend this place enough. It was honestly a perfect meal.
Absolutely love Shaya!!! Fantastic food, fabulous service, perfect wine. Always a great experience!
Food is just fantastic Colourful and flavourful
Spectacular meal with interesting Israeli choices and beautiful ambience!
Shaya was amazing. Simple, delicious, clean, festive... I can’t say enough about this place. Completely worth the wait
Have always had great meals here but this time we had an hour between appetizers and entree and then one of our entrees came out cold.
Awesome. We will be back for sure
Amazing food! Warm in the restaurant due to bread oven, so don't dress too warm.
Amazing food. We tried to keep it light, but with all that hot fresh homemade pita bread coming continuously, we were stuffed! Would definitely return (although we have tried to get in 4 times and couldn't until now!)
