The wood-fire oven is central to both the menu and the dining experience, from the incredible homemade, wood-fired pita to vegetable-centric small plates and heartier entrees. Many of the dishes on the diverse menu are meant to be shared and enjoyed throughout many courses.

Fabulous food and excellent staff! We will be back many times!
Food was excellent but the restaurant was freezing!!!!
Amazing fresh food. A bit too talty for my taste. Other than that the food was incredible and the service was good
My fiancée and I visited for a shared birthday dinner and were seated with a handwritten birthday card. The food was overall excellent - no pre meal bread can beat their pita. We had no clue it was restaurant week and saved a good bit on our meal without sacrificing any quality in food.
Delicious food, great service and the bread is amazing.
Long periods of being ignored. We would have ordered more had we been given the opportunity.
Always hit Shaya when we are in town.
Food, cocktails and service are spot on.
Amazing as usual. Impeccable service. Excellent wait staff. The restaurant was really busy as folks were trying to grab food before the Saints versus Texans football game. The staff flawlessly delivered fantastic food as usual. Consistently great.
Absolutely amazing place to visit... brilliant authentic Middle Eastern food and a wide variety to suit all tastes. Lots of vegetarian options as well as meat/ fish and also caters exceptionally well for people with celiacs disease (and those who can’t eat gluten). I was only in town a few days and went twice. I’d have gone back again if I had more time! The staff are lovely and the interior is well-appointed with pretty lighting. I loved watching the chef preparing their famous pita breads in the big oven. Highly recommended.
Food was average. Best thing on the menu was the lamb under the small plates. As well as the fresh bread from the oven. Tahini hummus was too dry and the rice was a no go.
Dinner was excellent—the hummus and pita bread is to die for. Dessert not so much—babka was dry as a bone and sauce was bitter. Service was beyond good, though. It was an enjoyable night out!
The menu was not my kind of food but that is not the restaurant's fault. Service and quality were great and if you like Israeli food then I'm sure you will love this place.
Excellent!! First time and will definitely return.
The food was amazing... The farm house setting was nice but the tables are not to close to other patrons being that this is an upscale restaurant.. I shouldn’t feel like I’m apart of the couples dinner next to me or can hear every word their saying.. The pita bread is to die for... A bit overpriced for the amount of food given... Small plates I get it but the portions of small is more minuscule than a tapas plate..:
Lots of hype for this west coaster, for an ok middle eastern fare, at high prices. Good cocktails, oxidized wine by the glass. Quality of food good, great, hot pita. No rush to go back.
I just moved to town a month ago, and a friend told me this was her favorite place in New Orleans, so I had to check it out! Thankfully, not only did it not disappoint, it completely blew me away! The pitas; so warm, fluffy, and delicious! And all the different hummus! And the starters! There were four people in my party and we all ate our weight in the most delicious food imaginable! Magic. Stop fearing this review and frickin make a reservation already! Gah!
P.S. Steven (Stephen?) = Best Server ever!
Excellent food and excellent service. The bartender even made me a Ramos Gin Fizz
Best hummus ragu n pita bread I ever had
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. We're glad you enjoyed! Best, Roger Eyles, Manager
The ambiance, cuisine and service were all exceptional, I highly recommend !!
There’s not a miss on the menu. Everything you order will be great. And the fresh pita 🥙 is outstanding, this from someone who is not a pita fan. Fresh, fresh, fresh! The appetizers are huge, I was full before we got to the main course.
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. We appreciate your kind words about the pita! Hope you will consider returning soon. Best, Roger Eyles, Manager
Great original cocktails. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress made some great recommendations on food selection. Everything why tried was truly delicious. The slow cooked lamb is not to be missed.
The food, location, and ambiance was wonderful! We got the fried chicken hummus which was delicious! We shared the summer squash, lamb skewer, and roasted okra. All were FANTASTIC!
Thanks for visiting Shaya recently. You made some great choices! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed and hope that you will consider retuning in the future. Regards, Roger Eyles, Manager
It wasn't as good as we expected. We went expecting to be dining at the restaurant of a James Beard award winner and were a little disappointed to hear that the chef had changed.
Fresh and delicious. Great tastes on every dish. Everyone’s comments on the pita are right on point. Food transports you to the Middle East
Delicious food, amazing place, affordable price! For sure I would recommend Shaya to my friends.. I loved it.
Wait staff was amazing! Super friendly! The hostess gave me a hand written birthday card, which I found very thoughtful. The hummus, omg the hummus! Sooooo good. We liked everything we ordered. Definitely recommend.
Thank you for choosing to spend your special day with us here at Shaya. We're so glad that you enjoyed the experience. I will be sure to pass along your kind words to our host staff. Regards, Roger Eyles, Manager
Shaya never disappoints!! Food and atmosphere were perfect. Fried Chicken Hummus is by far my most favorite!
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. Great choice on the fried chicken hummus- it's a crowd favorite! All the best, Roger Eyles, Manager
The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. They have small plates so you can make it a light meal but we had trouble with that because we wanted to try everything!
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently! We're so glad you enjoyed everything you had and hope you'll return soon. We're always adding to and updating our menu. All the best, Roger Eyles, Manager
The food is so amazing I can’t even describe it properly. As someone who has had my fair share of pita and falafel I felt like I was eating an entirely different food because it transcended all previous Mediterranean experiences.
The service could have been better. I don’t like to hear our neighbors conversation while eating but the food is amazing! Outdoor seating is best when it’s cooler out.
Excellent as usual. I’m pretty sure the fried chicken hummus is a sin because it was so good
The pita is too doughy for my taste but others may like it. Everything else is great.
Marvelous food. Everything prepared and/or cooked perfectly. Don't skip the hummus! Best Israeli food I've had in the States.
Wonderful service. Exceptional food. Looking forward to visiting again.
Thank you for visiting Shaya recently. We always love to hear when the food and service are both enjoyed. Warm Regard, Roger Eyles, Manager
Loved the pita bread! Everything was very good, and the service was attentive and friendly.
Food is incredible. Service excellent and attention to detail is a pleasant surprise. Not to mention the just baked pita bread brought straight to table which was too hot to touch.
I have been wanting to eat here since I moved back and it did not disappoint! Some of the best hummus and pita bread I have ever had, and the desert I had was one of my favorite things ever. Everyone in my group loved the experience too. I see myself becoming a regular :)
Everything was great! The food tasted as good as it looked and smelled! Endless fresh, hot pita. The Shakshouka is a must eat: take our server’s advice and make it messy, mix it all up! Our server was great and super helpful! Can’t wait to go back for the rest of the menu!
Excellent as always!
