Since 1984, Shaw’s Crab House has earned its status as a Chicago icon with its unwavering commitment to quality and warm, dedicated staff. This generational restaurant embodies timeless seafood traditions inspired by America's coastal crab houses, creating a classic dining experience that stands the test of time. Signature dishes include King Crab Legs, oysters from both coasts, hand-rolled sushi, fresh fish, and more. After 40 years of excellence, Shaw's was ranked #8 in Chicago Magazine's Best Chicago Restaurants of 2024.

The restaurant's 1940s-style design features two distinct dining rooms: the lively, casual Oyster Bar and the elegant, white-tablecloth Main Dining Room. Guests who reserve "Hightop" seating will dine in the Oyster Bar, while "Standard" seating is for the Main Dining Room.

Located in the heart of River North, Shaw’s is just a short walk from Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a memorable seafood experience.

    We requested a corner table for ease of conversation, and got a great spot for our needs! Our server, Lauren, was perfect…knowledgeable about the menu, checked on us/ took care of our requests, and the food was AMAZING!

    We had a wonderful evening at Shaw's Crab House. We split the chopped salad which was plenty for the two of us to share. We had the twin lobster tails and the seafood platter. They were both good choices. The tiramisu for dessert was divine. Franky took good care of us as did the two brothers on the wait staff. We really enjoyed them alot and appreciated their attention to every detail. Thank you! Oh and the bread was amazing. A very enjoyable meal.

    We always have a great experience at Shaws. Get the bay scallops while they are still in season. And the Halibut has a great preparation.

    Solid place with an old-time-y feel to it. Portion size leaves a bit to be desired, but if you don't mind the noise, it's a fun time in the bar/hightop area. Service is really good; Mario the assistant waiter gave us great service and everyone was very pleasant.
