Shark Fin Inn
Good solid yum cha and reasonably priced wines. Overall, very satisfied. Only issue was the difficulty getting vegetarian options for a veg guest.
Had a great meal at the Shark Fin Inn between two events at the Princess Theatre. Service friendly and fast. Food delicious. Very noisy bustling place, a good vibe if that's what you're expecting. Not for a quiet hushed evening.
The yum cha food is consistently good, plenty of variety and the most scrumptious asian desserts to finish. We love the Shark Fin team!
I've been going there now for 17 years and still loving it! Great food and attentive staff.
A little rowdy but the atmosphere is friendly, warm & above all, enticing to a dining enthusiast! Great variety of foods, a sometimes slow-moving but seemingly endless round of food trolleys.
Very good food - scallops stuffed with prawn, fish rolls, Peking duck all worth going back for.
Service was very good
Great place for a get together with friends
Our booking was made through open table but the host told us not to book through them and to only book direct with the restaurant. They didn’t have our booking even though it was confirmed online.
The food was good, we had to ask for many items to be brought to the table as they weren’t bringing a variety of yum cha around.
The floor staff were very helpful and got us dishes we wanted.
Excellent food with quality service & reasonable value.
Great spot for Yum Cha, I organised a lunch for my team and it was really good! Think we had 24 dishes and it was $20 per head for a group of 9. Definetely would do it again!
We arrived on time and had to wait for 25 minutes before being seated. We waited another 20 minutes to have our order taken then we were rushed to eat our banquet and asked to leave with takeaway containers. This was supposed to be a great Christmas lunch. We’ve been coming to Shark Finn for over 30 years and the day we brought our parents there it was not a good experience. Unhappy on this occasion.
Packed as many people in as possible, poor service, rude, slow food trolleys and very tired looking restaurant. Nothing memorable.
End of year relaxation lunch. Good food. Timing great for YumCha
I have been eating at Shark Fin in for many years. I lived in Hong Kong for 28 years and this is my favourite Chinese restaurant. Always recommend to friends and always take visitors for a truly authentic dining experience. Great for dim sum too.
Have been there dozens of times for yum cha and always enjoy it. Food is always good and quite affordable. Nothing special in terms of decor, but I am normally there to enjoy the company of my colleagues rather than looking at works of art.
Authentic Yum Cha. Huge variety of food to choose from. Delicious.
Always a fun time! Service is efficient and fast and food is delicious!
Loved the fact you can BYO wine/beer and the corkage was not absorbadant ($4/$5pp not per bottle). Could not fault the service, food or anmbience. Was very pleased and will go back. good value for money.
We have been coming to Shark Fin Inn for years and looked forward to the event on cup day. Food was good but there seemed to be too many pork dimsum and wantons and not the delicate variety and diffuse selection of ingredients we have normally come to expect.
The dumplings were of good quality but the service and ambiance is really not what you go to a place like this for because the service is either non-existent or abrupt/rude while ambiance is like eating at a train station during peak hour with lots of people screaming in Chinese at you. Go for the dumplings and only the dumplings - they are pretty good. If you are entertaining business people (like I was) or after a romantic date, go elsewhere.
A little disappointed with the variety of steamed dumplings on offer. No siu Mai or har gow which was a real blow. We went to the 1330 sitting so perhaps all the good stuff had gone earlier. Very good service and decently priced wine list. Overall good without being spectacular.
Shark Fin Inn remains one of the best places for Yum Cha in Melbourne. Highly recommended.
First time going to Shark Fin for Yum Cha. Food was good but the range of dishes offered was a bit limited.
nothing came upstairs, same 3 dumplings did 10 rounds. Not what Yum Cha is supposed to be
Fantastic food with great service. Definitely a must for yumcha lovers. If you are a big eater go with all-you-can-eat for $42. It is worth it. I recommend it 100%!
Great restaurant with lovely food but it’s not a relaxing meal, the staff seem to try and hurry the meal and hurry you out the door.
