Omg, I can't think of enough things to say about Shaquille's. The food was flavorful and the ambience was great. I love the atmosphere. The staff were courteous and always made sure you were satisfied. Wish they would get a chain of this restaurant in every major city...I must add to please try the Blackened Snapper.....
For a name sake restaurant that supposedly specializes in soul food, their fried chicken was moist, but there was no seasoning and soggy. Sad... The people at the table next to us sent back 4 items while we were there.
The service and ambiance was great, the food was horrible. I’ve never sent back dishes in my life, on my visit we sent back at least 3 different items and bared with the rest. I will probably never return though I live nearby
Great place, fun employees, happy place. Love the music
I love Shaq! And we were going to a Laker game afterwards so we were excited about the whole night’s experience. But although our waitress was spectacular, everything else was just okay. We liked the texture of the fried chicken but there wasn’t much flavor to it, even though they do bring 3 different sauces for it. If you’re a mac and cheese connoisseur, you might be a little disappointed, as it’s not baked. A little pricey too, but if you just want to say you ate at Shaq’s restaurant for a night out, it wasn’t bad.
It was our anniversary and we watched the Laker Game afterwards
the waitress was the best waitress I have had, she was amazing and so attentive and when she didn't think she wasn't attentive enough she apologized, everything was perfect
It was overall just okay.
Collard Greens were the best I have ever had!!! Service was great. Waiter surprised me with a wine sample tasting to help me make the right decision. I will be going back for the tasty fried chicken.
$$$ for a small glass of wine;(
First time trying this restaurant and everyone in our party of 6 loved the food. The deviled eggs appetizer were delicious. The ribs were tasty, tender and plentiful. The fried chicken was a hit. The shrimp & grits were another great dish. We will definitely be back.
The entire experience was awesomely “fantabulous!!!” The food, the ambiance and the location were all beyond superb! And most of all, our waitress, KIMA, was outstanding and a breath of fresh air pertaining to service! Her knowledge of the food simply rolled off her tongue with such delight and ease! And her personality was dynamic and through the roof! Please recognize her as a gifted asset to the establishment!
I don't know if we went on a off day. But your place was over staffed so many employees standing around. I will give it another try.
The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS! Restaurant has a nice feel, friendly atmosphere, decorated nicely. The macaroni and fried chicken were ok.
Excellent spot for lunch and dinner before a game or concert. Excellent food and service. I loved the shrimp ceviche, salmon, mac and cheese, yummy buttery biscuits and the Mule!
The service and ambiance were fine. I would recommend for the shrimp and grits as the entree was delicious according to my guest.
Good but not great - I would return but I was not overly impressed.
We were seated by the kitchen entrance with many available seats.
We waited 15 minutes before we finally flagged down a server and asked for water.
Server brought us water, apologized for us waiting due to a "change of shift."
After taking our orders, the food was delivered in good fashion by different workers.
Restaurant had a lot of working staff.
Fried chicken was good. Potato salad was not good. Hamburger was so-so.
We had to flag our server down to get "to go" cartons and the check.
Upon returning with our check, we were given our neighbor's credit card.
The table next to us was charged for our bill. We couldn't find our server till we entered kitchen area.
Server was talking with co-workers. We informed server of problem.
Server came out, got our credit card and told table next to us they were fixing the problem.
12 minutes later our check & card came back paid. We left with the table next to us still waiting for their check.
I think the Shaquille's needs better management. They had plenty of workers, but no direction.
We will not go back. We do not recommend this establishment.
We had a reservation and went before the 5pm dinner rush. There were not many people in the restaurant at first, but service was still a bit slow. Our server was having to cover additional tables because someone had not shown up for their shift. The food was okay. It was advertised as "southern comfort cuisine", but I'm from the south and it was Bland. As far as value, it wasn't worth $30 for 4 pieces of Bland fried chicken and $10 for each side... Very overpriced. Finally, when we received the check the manager actually took my husband's credit card to close us out. He was busy talking and mixed up the cards so he charged us (a couple) the $146 for the table of 4 next to us and charged them for our bill.... Although it was taken care of by another manager and our server he never even apologized and we had to wait for the credit back... That was not good customer service and our two bills combined plus tip (because it took 3 days to get the refund), was too much to not at least get an apology...
We arrived at 3:45. The restaurant was only 1/3 full. After we ordered our drinks we had to wait about 15 minutes, and we had to ask what was taking so long. We looked over and saw 3 bartenders. If the restaurant was packed we'd understand the wait, but the 3 bartenders did not seem busy. We've been to many restaurants and had never been served that slowly with the place 2/3rds empty. We ordered the signature fried chicken. The menu states that BBQ sauce and hot sauce were included. No sauces arrived. We had to ask for the sauces, and by the time they arrived (with NO LABELS - WHY?), the chicken was almost cold. In addition, the chicken was still red by the bone. We brought most of it home to SAFELY FULLY COOK THE FOOD.
We asked for an extra napkin, and ended up waiting a while for that too. While waiting we observed at least 3 wait staff members just standing near the terminals doing nothing while our server was running around. When we asked why the servers were not helping out we were told they had just come on shift. Well if they had clocked in why were they not helping the customers? How many customers want lousy service while the PAID servers ignore them? In talking to the manager he explained that he had only been there for 2 months and was trying to improve things. 2 months and still lousy service?
This was a $200 dinner. We will NEVER be back, and have already started letting fellow Laker fans, and my many students, about how bad the food and service is at Shaquille's. Most of the responses we heard were that they are not surprised that Shaq would put his name on something simply to make $ for Shaq. Seems quality is the LAST priority at Shaquilles.
My friends and I made a dinner reservation at 9:30 due to our schedule, as the restaurant closed at 10:00. Surprisingly, we were the only table in the restaurant, aside from a few guests in the bar area. Our server was AMAZING from start to finish. I wish I remembered her name, but she was very detailed in how the experience worked and even provided her own suggestions. Between my friends and I, we ordered the deviled eggs and peppered biscuits for starters and an order of the famous fried chicken, ribs, macaroni and cheese, and greens for the main course. Everything was delicious and even better- the drinks were strong. Would recommend to a friend and would visit again if ever in the area.
My son was super excited to come here before the Lakers/Warriors pre-season game. Currently, this is a one and done type of restaurant. I would recommend visiting because it's Shaq's, but there's no reason to actually return. The service was great. Ambience was nice. But the food was just okay, and wildly overpriced. After reading other reviews, we ordered what seemed to be the "favorites": deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and the shrimp and grits. It was fine. But not good enough for us to crave a return. Mostly because the prices are too high for the ingredients used. My son ordered lemonade, which is apparently home-made, great. But they should include one free refill with all the ice. We were charged for his second glass. It's water, lemon juice and sugar for God's sake. We would only return to maybe share a burger.
Food and service was good! I got what I expected.
I really enjoyed the experience. I would like to see more Black Owned liquor. Ciroc Vodka, Fing Vodka and De Leon Tequilla.
The food was amazing however, we felt like out waitress was not very attentive and was a little snappy when explaining the menu and taking our order. But the Food was amazing!
We had the Shaq's fried chicken, mac n cheese, and greens. At the end of dinner I ate a twix bar because the food wasn't good and I was starving. The chicken appeared to be fresh but was saturated with grease and tasted old. The mac n cheese had a sauce that resembled Kraft imitation cheese. The greens lacked seasoning and had meat particles scattered when per the server it contained brisket. Overall it is over priced for the quality of food served. We left 95% of what was ordered on the table. At least the water was good.
The sides were cold and shouldn't have been. Expensive chicken was pink inside but when we asked about it , it wasn't replaced. We had high hopes that it was a cool place 🤷♀️
Dre our waiter was amazing
Taylor Behind the bar was amazing as well
The fried chicken was pink and not cooked well....had to ask for it to be done again !
The food was just “okay” to say the lease. My expectations was very high. My party ordered the salmon, red snapper, ribs, chicken, cheese burger, shrimp and grits, biscuits, cabbage salad and Mac and cheese. Out of all the dishes maybe 2 were just okay. I would never go again.
I did like the loud music as though they had a Dj.
The food was great. We had the fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, the biscuits and the banana pudding for dessert. I also loved the Rose wine. We will be back.
Lunch was delicious and we will be back for ( menu ) dinner.
Priced too high
Food awful. Worst Mac & cheese, greens & fried chicken I’ve ever had. Brisket sliders decent. Poor sloooooow service. Took the hummingbird cake home. It was DRY!!! Awful
Went on Wed. No crowd. Why was service slow, unfriendly. Female Waitress, Tamona unkempt. Hostess NOT friendly or Welcoming- Asian dark hair petite. Name unknown. Shaq should close and start over
Food was poorly prepared, cold fries with the steak frites dish and the snapper was overbearing considering the amount of cayenne pepper used. I do not consider the cuisine to be that of southern cooking and would consider a different restaurant in the area next time.
Great location and I loved the ambience and style. But the food itself is okay. Fried chicken should have a crispy coating and not soggy. Besides shrimp and grits, it needs more fish options.
Great customer service with delicious food!!!
I ordered the Shaquille burger! oh my goodness, absolutely delicious and the fries were to die for I’m definitely going back!
First, let me start with the highs. Our service was impeccable! From the hosts who greeted and seated us, to the very knowledgeable server and the very helpful expeditors, we were treated like family. The food, however, was less than impressive. We loooved the blackened snapper with dirty rice. The fried chicken was nothing special and the sliders were hit or miss. The other downside was the noise level. Conversing was difficult as we could not hear even the person sitting directly next to us.
I came to Shaquille's to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had planned on having a few drinks, and appetizers then order dinner. We enjoyed the appetizers and drinks so much we totally forgot about ordering dinner. We will be back for sure- everything was really good.
Thanks for making our evening special with Good Food and Drinks.
Malynda & CT Thomas
Food and service was great! Will definently be returning.
Nice food and location is awesome
