The food was great, the service was right on time. But the music was a little loud for conversation. The ladies room did not have a changing table. The manager was very attentive .
I was very disappointed. The food was not very good. The appetizers we had were good but not the main dishes. The shrimp and grits were in a tomato based sauce that had no flavor and the flank steak was tender but no flavor. The Mac-m-cheese tastes like it was made with velveeta cheese and had crumbled Cheezeits on top. Not work to the money. I was not impressed. It’s overpriced and not good southern style food. Unfortunately, they missed the mark on this place.
The food was good and the ambience was great.
Great food and a great Team took care of our family. Spoke with Michael the GM. Could not have been better. Their fried chicken and sides were outstanding!
Awesome. Great service great fried chicken
Loved it! The food was soooo good. Their renowned chicken was maybe the best I've ever tasted......very most, flavorful, yet with a nice moderately crunchy outer skin. Biscuits were uniquely special and the whole vibe of the place was great. Maybe not enough servers, so service started off a little slow. Maitre d' or Manager was very helpful and friendly, full of character. The waitress that we ended up with after the slow start was very good and very sweet too. Thanks! We fully intend recommending this to anyone interested.
Great food, reasonably priced. Manager is great but the music volume is extremely high and server was too distracted and kept forgetting to come back to us
The general ambience and decor was very inviting and up beat.
Music was so loud that the server could not hear us to take our order.
Appetizer arrived after our main course, with no apology.
Drinks were never refilled.
NOISY! Very. Beautiful service but expensive for what it is. You have to try the fried chicken. It’s a must because it’s Shaquille’s chicken. Not a large menu, but a good selection.
The shrimp and grits were amazing!
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. It was rather tasty.
The service was excellent and food was good, but over price.
The place wants to be a 5-star dining place without delivering a 5 star experience. The only 5 star this place delivered is the price. The food is so-so. The server had the audacity to say they pride themselves with big portions? LOL. Order yourself one of their $18, plus $11 fries that's $29 + the cost of drinks. For a so so, tiny burger. The salmon and and shrimp and grits were very good. The two burgers our husbands ordered is, well just a $29 burger & fries. Cocktails were so poorly made I had a margarita and tasted nothing but alcohol and rancid limes. Same for the "punch" it only tastes like alcohol! Not enjoyable at all. The worst part, our server had ZERO personality who made us feel like we're a bother. After over $200 on a very simple meal, all he said to our friends celebrating their 11th year anniversary was happy anniversary. No effort whatsoever to make the night memorable. So do WE recommend Shaquille's? That's a shaq-size NO.
Delicious, semi-upscale Southern. The best fried chicken I’ve had in LA, and a killer Sazerac to boot.
We had a reservation (6 ppl - business lunch) but it took over an hour from the time we placed our order to when we received food. The staff was very pleasant and tried to accommodate as best as possible, but they were horribly understaffed for lunch service. We were attending one of the 4 conventions happening at the JW Marriott next door, so not quite sure why they (literally) only had one cook and two wait staff for the entire restaurant for lunch. We wound up getting our food so late, we actually missed our next meeting and the only "mea culpa" offered by the manager was comping our appetizer. The food quality was okay but way over priced for the flavor and portion size. (Warning: You can only order the fried chicken as a half or whole chicken...$28 and $52 respectively.)
Arrived for my birthday lunch. Was immediately seated in a perfect location. Service was acknowledged immediately. Nice menu - great selections. Food presentation came out in a timely matter and looked and tasted perfect.
My favorite part was the chartreuse pillows on the patio. Also the DJ booth! Presentation for the food looked amazing was perfect!
The food was not bad, but when the price is factored in, it just doesnt seem worth it. Doubt I will go back. 5 of us went and did the sharing thing. WE ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp and grits, ribs, mac n cheese, fries and stuffing. Chicken, greens and ribs were really good, but not that good when factor in the cost, we all agreed that we can get better food for way less. The mac n cheese, no!, stuffing was cool, fries are like chips. Shrimp and grits was disappointing grits, Shrimp were good, but the rest was not. This is an a la cart restaurant and it should not be.
This place was lackluster. They aren’t a sports bar, but they should consider slightly adjusting their concept to lean that way. Especially if they’re planning to last through summer.
Excellent good and service.
The food is amazing most importantly flavorful from the apps to the dessert. The portions are a great size some options for sharing. I have been three times already no disappointment.
Service was great! Made you feel like family. Food was really good too! Highly recommend the Fried chicken.
Where do I start. The sliders/appetizers came out cold. The main entry fried chicken I was not pleased with redness inside the chicken. The chicken was very bland. The sides I ordered with it with mac n cheese and stuffing. MISTAKE. The Mac n cheese was Kraft and the stuffing was box. Shaq what kind of business are you running. Totally dissatisfied from start to finish. Oh Wait the chocolate cake and Hummingbird cake was the BOMB.
We enjoyed our experience there. We ordered the fried chicken. It was very tasty and juicy. The half chicken is quite a good amount for one person. The shrimp and grit was tasty also. I just wished I had more 😀. We ordered fries and It was yummy. It wasn’t thick and starchy. We enjoyed it. We also had the hamburger which was also good. The only bad was that Shaq wasn’t there.😕. Overall we would come back again. We enjoyed being at La Live. Great restaurant Shaq!
Great food and drink . Fried chicken s champs
The food wasn’t tasty at all. My fried chicken was over cooked and burnt . The shrimp ceviche was over saturated with lime juice . The salmon taste bland it had no season added to it . The Mac n cheese Tasted like a box of kraft. I was very disappointed in the every dish I tried . The service was excellent and the ambiance was nice, but the food is overpriced and wasn’t worth it . I won’t be returning
My party had the ribs and bake chicken with Mac n cheese and baked carrots.. with cake for desert .. it was all including regular drinks was excellent.. Really enjoyed the whole experience of the restaurant..service included .. Highly recommend
Let me begin by saying I wish Shaq all the success in the world as a Restauranteur in Los Angeles
I looked forward to visiting his establishment along with 2 of my friends. We were greeted warmly by his staff they were very courteous and accommodating.
After viewing the menu my 1st thought was That being everything was al a cart the side orders were a bit pricey at $11 each. I ordered fried chicken Along with sides of macaroni and potato salad. I liked the seasoning of the chicken and I thought that it was tasty. However the macaroni was totally unacceptable rubbery in texture and the seasoning and cheeses were not Up to snuff. The potato salad was interesting given the fact that he used potatoes that were dark in color I'm not quite sure what type they were but I didnt care for the taste.
Some of the best food I've ever had! Great service and atmosphere! The fried chicken is incredible and the corn pudding is out of this world (almost a dessert)! We went twice in the four days we were in LA because it was so good! Can't beat bacon jam!
Wanted to take my husband someplace new to celebrate his birthday. So glad I did! The food was delicious, the servers responsive, and the management dialed in. I look forward to returning.
Just a quick visit to LA overnight.. my husband is a huge Shaq fan.
It only made sense that we stopped and showed our love!
We found about the food lacked seasoning. They had great texture and appearance but it was Flavor less. Regarding the Fried Chicken it's basic you have to add one of the sauces in order to really call it something. The deviled eggs were excellent. The banana pudding was just okay it was too dense it should have been a bit sweeter and it needed more texture.
Service from James was outstanding. Food was awesome. We ordered fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, collard greens and fries. Highly recommend the food. The price however was steep for the small portion size but it’s expected dining at LA Live.
It did take forever to get the bill but the food was good.
The food and service were great. The music was a bit too loud for normal conversations, but that won't stop me from returning.
Thought this was going to be another athlete owned sports bar - we were surprised to find a eloquent southern style home cooking kitchen.
The fried chicken is out of this world! Great hand crafted cocktails too. Tried the fried green tomatoes and loved them, sliders as an appetizer, they were sumptuous.
Fried chicken was really good, as was the hummingbird cake. Items as presented on the menu weren't what we were expecting. Take the corn pudding for example, it's actually creamed corn, and not a corn pudding. The server wasn't much help in making suggestions, because she had never tasted the food she served. I think that the personnel of any dining establishment should be required to taste the food in order to help w/understanding what they are being served.
The fried green tomatoes were good, and brought back great "taste memories" for me and my dining companion.
Upon entering with a reservation, we still were not immediately seated. Once seated we did get drinks. However, once we ordered our food we waited for almost an hour with no indication or reason as to why. As we were almost getting ready to leave our food finally came out. The food was decent but it definitely wasn't the best. There were cheese itz on the mac & cheese and I'm not sure if that was supposed to be a joke but that was disturbing. The waiter never came back to check on us and never got us the manager. Also never got a check for us we had to flag down the manager ourselves. Service was terrible and I never plan on returning again.
The sides are way too expensive! $11 for fries!?
My salmon was cooked just a tad too long, could have been a little more tender, but overall the flavor of the meal was very fulfilling. I would suggest added a green vegetable to complete this dish, but overall I had a great experience and a great cocktail. Highly recommend.
The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu.
