Our server was amazing, food was excellent. Second time dinning here. The beet salad was salty this time around for some reason... Other than that, everything was great! I ordered the catfish, so delicious!
We went before a show. The food was great and we had great service. I assume the negative reviews on service were during busy times. We happened to go quite early before our show and our server and other staff were very attentive and courteous. I would definitely eat here again. The food was great. Everything was very flavorful and portions were huge. Great modern atmosphere while not being stuffy at all.
It was a good experience. The food was tasty... highly recommend the black pepper biscuits and the shrimp and grits.
So Shaquille's was a mixed bag. The food was outstanding - deviled eggs as an appetizer were good except for the bacon; fried chicken did not disappoint any of us; mac and cheese and corn pudding were both delicious. But for three of us, a whole chicken, two sides and three glasses of wine was just about $150 including tip. Pricey for what we got. Service was good and the hot towels at the end was a nice touch since the chicken was messy. Biggest complaint was the noise level - we had a difficult time carrying on a conversation because the music was so loud. Thankfully (and surprisingly), the restaurant was not very busy on a Friday night. Had it been packed with guests all talking at the same time it would have been virtually impossible to engage in a conversation. Glad I went but not in any rush to go back.
Please open a store in Alabama. I was in LA for a wk and that was the real meal that I Enjoyed.
The ribs and fried chicken were scrumptious, however the bar and kitchen were VERY slow. Placed order at 6:40, drinks arrived at 7:10 and dinner at 7:30.
The waitress was very sweet and attentive.
This was our first time at Shaquille’s. We were impressed with the great food; outstanding service and overall value. The only recommendation I have (and this is for other restaurants as well) is to lower the music volume. We sat outside where there was little noise. Thanks to the staff and management for taking my suggestion under consideration.
Extremely long wait for food. Service was poor.
We loved everything from the southern comfort food menu to the convenience and ambience of this new restaurant. The fried chicken and mac & cheese were delicious as were the black pepper biscuits for our starters. Wow! We will be back.
Nice atmosphere. Good service. Excellent meal and reasonable prices for beverages
Our waitress and waiter were GREAT, they had a great sense of humor and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere was wonderful, music, and hostesses also were delightful. Now the food.....eh🙅🏾♂️.
We had a party of 10 and the only good thing was the pepper biscuits. I ordered the “famous” fried chicken and it was extra extra extra extra crunchy, I had to discard the skin, but the meat underneath was moist and juicy. The sliders I ordered were good, not great and the fries were at a best a 4 out of 10. No one else in our party seemed to wanna comeback for the food, but the service was an “A”.
Poor selection, slow service. Drinks weren’t that great.
The food was BOMB! Worth every penny! We had the brisket sliders and they were deviiinnnneeee! Shrimp and grits were awesome and the chicken was fried to perfection! Shaq did that!
We are always routing for Shaq and we weren't disappointed. The service was fast, friendly and fabulous. The food was amazing. Southern meets City of Angels. Seriously, where else can you get a beet salad, freeeesh cevice AND southern fried chicken? One drawback - it's pricey, i.e. $29.00 for 4 peices of chicken.
Austin was a great server! He was very helpful considering it was our first time but we had a great experience and my boyfriend and I would definitely go back.
The grits & shrimp was very good! Definite recommends:
1. Grits & Shrimp
3. Shrimp ceviche
4. Mac & cheese ( it's the recipe from Lucille's)
Fried chicken is just okay. Nothing special.
Flank steak was a miss.
The food was not tasty. We ordered cheese dip, it was awful. The burger was not well seasoned, the chicken skin on the chicken was burned looking, the entree salad I had, was flavorless.
For dessert we had coffee and the chocolate cake. It was average. I do not plan to return.
We were very excited about our pending visit. The décor is beautiful. We were served by Taylor who was amazing - she had a full knowledge of the menu and was very attentive. Her wonderful service made up for the under-seasoned chicken and shrimp and grits (disappointing). The Mac n cheese was unremarkable, but the roasted carrots and the beet salad were phenomenal. Since the restaurant was advertised as Southern Cuisine, we anticipated the food would have more flavor. Would suggest the chef up his game to match the excellent service and décor.
The food was really good and our server Alexandra was so nice.
This was my second time dining here and the Waite staff was extremely slow. The only thing good about he experience was being out with my family. Not sure if we’ll be going back. It’s way too expensive to have such a lackluster dinner out
The chicken did not have any taste. It looked good but was very bland. The pepper biscuits were hard and stale. Pepper and biscuits are not a good mix for any palette The waitress was great and fun. Too expensive and the the food was tasteless.
I did enjoy the restaurant, the food not really what I expected BUT nice. Our waitress was the BOMB. The ambiance was GREAT... not sure if I’ll rush back but if someone is having something there I’ll definitely go...
We had an awesome time and an awesome server (Elizabeth). The manager was super nice as always. We will be back.
The food was great, the service was right on time. But the music was a little loud for conversation. The ladies room did not have a changing table. The manager was very attentive .
I’d recommend this restaurant because the food was great and so was the atmosphere!
The food was ok, I'm glad I tried it at least once, but the value is overpriced
I was very disappointed. The food was not very good. The appetizers we had were good but not the main dishes. The shrimp and grits were in a tomato based sauce that had no flavor and the flank steak was tender but no flavor. The Mac-m-cheese tastes like it was made with velveeta cheese and had crumbled Cheezeits on top. Not work to the money. I was not impressed. It’s overpriced and not good southern style food. Unfortunately, they missed the mark on this place.
The food was good and the ambience was great.
Great food and a great Team took care of our family. Spoke with Michael the GM. Could not have been better. Their fried chicken and sides were outstanding!
Awesome. Great service great fried chicken
Loved it! The food was soooo good. Their renowned chicken was maybe the best I've ever tasted......very most, flavorful, yet with a nice moderately crunchy outer skin. Biscuits were uniquely special and the whole vibe of the place was great. Maybe not enough servers, so service started off a little slow. Maitre d' or Manager was very helpful and friendly, full of character. The waitress that we ended up with after the slow start was very good and very sweet too. Thanks! We fully intend recommending this to anyone interested.
Great food, reasonably priced. Manager is great but the music volume is extremely high and server was too distracted and kept forgetting to come back to us
The general ambience and decor was very inviting and up beat.
Music was so loud that the server could not hear us to take our order.
Appetizer arrived after our main course, with no apology.
Drinks were never refilled.
NOISY! Very. Beautiful service but expensive for what it is. You have to try the fried chicken. It’s a must because it’s Shaquille’s chicken. Not a large menu, but a good selection.
The shrimp and grits were amazing!
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. It was rather tasty.
The service was excellent and food was good, but over price.
The place wants to be a 5-star dining place without delivering a 5 star experience. The only 5 star this place delivered is the price. The food is so-so. The server had the audacity to say they pride themselves with big portions? LOL. Order yourself one of their $18, plus $11 fries that's $29 + the cost of drinks. For a so so, tiny burger. The salmon and and shrimp and grits were very good. The two burgers our husbands ordered is, well just a $29 burger & fries. Cocktails were so poorly made I had a margarita and tasted nothing but alcohol and rancid limes. Same for the "punch" it only tastes like alcohol! Not enjoyable at all. The worst part, our server had ZERO personality who made us feel like we're a bother. After over $200 on a very simple meal, all he said to our friends celebrating their 11th year anniversary was happy anniversary. No effort whatsoever to make the night memorable. So do WE recommend Shaquille's? That's a shaq-size NO.
