Shame on the Moon
Shame on the Moon in Rancho Mirage, CA opened in 1995. When you visit, you will find two different dining rooms. The main dining room is a formal area that features mostly booth seating. The garden room has more of a relaxed and intimate feel to it.
The food is what makes Shame on the Moon such a special place to visit. Appetizers include salad, crab cakes, jumbo prawn cocktails and shrimp scampi. Entre options include pasta primavera, seared ahi steak, Northern Atlantic salmon filet, veal meatloaf and grilled flank steak. Shame on the Moon has desserts as well, including peanut butter pie, ice cream and sorbet.
A thoroughly delightful dining experience. Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere, and our waiter, Michael, was simply fabulous! Highly recommend.
The service was impeccable, the food delicious and it's staying power over the last thirty-three years, says the rest. Never disappointed!
It’s a terrific restaurant, I’ve going to it for years! Highly recommend it!!!
Class Place. Food and drinks the best in the valley. Don't miss this place
Great food great staff and atmosphere it’s a tradition every Thanksgiving when our best friend is in town,
Consistently good service, food and ambiance. A little louder than usual. When I made the reservations, I indicated that we were there for a celebration - my husband had just passed away and we were having a small dinner in his honor. No mention made of this. All good otherwise.
Very enjoyable atmosphere with a good selection of foods, along with good service. We would definitely return and recomment this restaurant to others.
Very good food and service!
Fine dining with a varied and reasonably-priced menu. Attracts many local "regulars" and others who appreciate gracious surroundings with very attentive service.
Shame is always up to it's normal great standards. The "Autumn Special" is a really good deal.
I live in Pasadena and ALWAYS make it a point to go out with my friends to Shame on the Moon when I am in town. The people are all friendly, the ambiance is great and the food wonderful!
Very good value and quality but unfortunately inconsistent service--long delay between courses and waiter seemed to disappear. A couple of loud tables nearby spoiled the evening. I suggest that some "soft" background music be considered to "muffle" loud parties.
Nice "Family" type restaurant...nothing outrageously priced on the food menu and enough variety to suit most everyone. We had a good Date Night.
I've been going to Shame on the Moon for over fifteen years. It is not a foodie destination but one where the drinks and atmosphere make one feel entirely at home. It's not in any way edgy, modern or hip but simply a relaxing restaurant to visit, if you get the right waiter. My last visit was entirely spoiled by the waiter who literally tossed the menus into the center of the table and had a less than attentive attitude. Something was wrong with this guy who could have cared less about his customers. Sure hope his attitude changes or he is replaced with a more responsible individual as one doesn't go here for the inventive food.
We had a rather noisy table of 6 behind us which the patio's accoustics seemed to amplify throughout. On this occasion my partner did have to return his glass of Cabernet Sauvignon which was not palatable. Three of us tasted it and agreed. Our waiter was very gracious in our return and stated that he would sample it when he returned to the kitchen. We do Love Shame and will return. Thanks, Joel
We love Shame On The Moon ! We took our granddaughter there for her first time and she loved it too. We adore the liver and sometimes split the order, but the bottle of wine is always wonderful and we love the Garden Room. Will be back again soon.
Had the fall special on the patio. Good value and good service.
Shame on the Moon is a fabulous experience. Ambiance, Service and most importantly the Cuisine are all Five Star!
Great restaurant, excellent food, attentive professional staff, a real gem in Rancho Mirage. We love it, its our go to spot when we have guests visiting from out of town. Love it!
Excellent as always. We love Shame on the Moon. Consistent
I love the menu and staff, and ambiance. great place to dine.
We have been coming here for years, and were disappointed with the food this time around. This is the first time we have had food that was not as good as expected. I had the grilled flank steak which I had to send back as it was medium rare not medium well as ordered. The flavor was terrible, and I could not finish it. The potatoes were very odd as well. Did not even taste like potatoes at all! What a waste of time and money. Very disappointed.
We always save Shame on the Moon for our last night in Palm Springs to dine with friends and it never disappoints! We just wish the old hostess (Ginger) was still working there since she treated everyone like family coming home.
Nice food. It feels "old" and the server was adequate, but not great. Good bar. Don't go if you are under 55
We love the food and the cozy atmosphere. The service is friendly.
Food was fantastic and the service impeccable. Value for the price of dinner very reasonable. Only negatives I could find is that we were seated in I believe the garden area where the noise level was much higher than normal and not very romantic. But the service was excellent and the food was very tasty. I will return the next visit to the desert.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AT THIS TIME. WE HAVE BEEN DINING AT SHAME ON THE MOON FOR AT LEAST TEN (10) TIMES THE SERVICE WAS ALWAYS GREAT, WE WERE FORGOTTEN AND TO REQUEST FOR ORDERING, CALL FOR BAR SERVICE, FORGOT TO BRING THE BIRTHDAY DESERT, ETC. BARTENDER WAS VERY GOOD, SHOULD HAVE EATEN AT THE BAR. ALMOST LEFT WHEN NO ONE CAME TO TAKE ORDER.
Excellent experience! The server was very nice and made great recommendations when asked about specific dishes. The only issue was that he didn’t hear me order a second cocktail - thought I said I didn’t want another when I said I did want one. I finally asked if my drink was coming soon. He said he thought I didn’t want another one. He did not apologize for misunderstanding or any other explanation he just left and came back with my drink. He seemed somewhat put out that I questioned where my drink was. The food was excellent. I had salmon which was prepared with a light breading and a superb sauce. Others had steak which they also said was excellent. Our food came quickly and the temperature was very good. We plan on going back soon. This time I’ll make it very clear if I want a second cocktail!
Dinner and Service were Fabulous as usual. What a pleasure. Thank you.
Service was slow and inconsistent....long delay between drinks arriving and food order bring taken...then a long delay between apps and main course. One of us ordered coffee and it arrived before the pre ordered dessert which we finally had to ask for.
On another note, the food was good but the house salad is very poor value for money.....could be a little more interesting for the price.
As usual the food was outstanding, the cocktails are always perfect and the service goes above and beyond. Shame on the Moon is our go to place for special occasions, dinner before the theatre and date night.
Great place , service is always excellent.
It’s charming like a mini High end stake house like a mini Morton’s .
Outside is quieter but inside it’s good well dressed people watching . Value is great .
I’ll be back .
Shame on you if you don't try Shame on the Moon. Affordable , wide variety of menu choices, special Autumn three course dinners at $ 28.95 and excellent service by a well trained staff.
We enjoyed a pleasant and unrushed dinner. The martini's were excellent as always. We enjoyed the Rack of Lamb, Salmon, and Scallop entrees equally. The surrounding tables were mostly filled which always makes dining out more pleasurable (people watching is part of the experience). We come several times a year and always have a good time.
Varied and wide menu. Professional but relaxed service. Outside area for dining comfortable.
Great restaurant. Wonderful food and lovely ambiance.
Food is always good and served warm. Service is generally very good and Johnny makes the best drinks in the desert.
We had asked for a quiet area because one of our guests was hard of hearing. Your Tom called us after we made the reservation and said he put us in the Garden area. It was perfect and we had a fabulous meal with no problem for our hard of hearing guest. Thank You. We will return.
