It was wonderful as always. You can always count on a good meal here.
The food was good.
Seems like the food was not prepared well. Previously cooked chicken was rubbery and was just thrown in the undercooked curry.
Naan bread was old and chewy
The staff were very nice and accommodating. The food tasted delicious and we were able to relax and not feel rushed to finish.
Bizarre experience... "waiter" hovered, wore his coat, the staff talked WAY too loud (TMI) and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. Food was probably good (have been going there for years) but couldn't get past the disinfectant smell that was overwhelming, actually had to hold my scarf over my nose. I guess will try take out next time
We tried Shalimar for the first time during Ann Arbor restaurant week. We were able to order 4 courses for $28 dollars, and everything was delicious! Our server, Ashu, was friendly, efficient, and suggested a really good Indian beer!
Love the food, probably the best Indian food in Ann Arbor! But they shut at 9, I did not realize this while reserving an 8pm table and my date was kinda rushed.
Ignored us; forgotten and incorrect items; tried to seat a table directly next to us that was marked "do not seat"
They didn't seat us till 20 minutes after our reservation. They were so unprepared for Valentine's day. Delivery drivers were hovering over us and the waiter asked us to order everything within 5 minutes of us sitting and without water in our glasses.
Service is okay, mixed drinks from bar were honestly not drinkable, you can tell bartender is just mixing what he thinks works. Food was good but very disappointed in the quantity. I don’t think I even had 4oz of chicken in my entree. I have been to many Indian restaurants, either they didn’t cook enough chicken that day or they are just really stingy. Out of 4 people not one got enough chicken. Literally 5 chunks of chicken max.
I love this place, it was good to be back. Next time I need to sit further back from the door though. It was cold. It won't change my opinion of the place. Love it.
Our reservation was at 2:45. We entered the restaurant at 2:50. The guy looked at me and my family - and says we are closed. I am like “we have a reservation”, he says “we close at 3.... we clean the place from 3 to 4”. I insist “but you guys have confirmed my reservation on OpenTable...” And the guy is adamant “But we are close from 3 to 4, we can’t accept you”.
There were other people dining in and it didn’t seem they were going out anytime soon. So the Indian guy discriminated and didn’t allow a Muslim guy in the middle of Ann Arbor in a day light...
Food was very good. Highly recommend this place.
Shalimar is always a sure bet. I've eaten there many times over the years and not once have I had a mediocre meal.
Appeared that take-out orders were dominating the evening. While we got drinks and our appetizer quickly, it was more than an hour to get dinner. We ended up doing a second round of drinks (not our norm) and still waited for entrees.
Food was saltier and more oily than I recall from past visits.
Good dinner, but will look for alternatives in the future.
Fur the second time in a row our order took over an hour. Preference to take out orders appeared to be the cause. Three strikes and I think they will be out after over a decade of eating there.
The food was very good, my servant respectful Plaza would recommend this place 100%
Delicious food and nice outdoor seating on Main St on the weekend.
Consistently delicious meals that cannot be duplicated at home! Love the safe, outdoor seating on weekends (street closure, social distancing). We hope that continues beyond October, with outdoor vertical heaters.
A peaceful place to eat. I like the thali for lunch. I wish they’d serve it for dinner. It is the best way to get newcomers to Indian food to try a sampling. That is how I became a fan of certain dishes. Please consider serving the thali sampler at dinner time.
Order got messed up
Outdoor seating, great ambience during Covid, food was awesome, service was great.
I am Celiac therefore gluten free and the help and advice on the options available where outstanding - highly recommend this restaurant - the staff were fantastic
It was a pretty good staff, food was good, I think I would have liked it better if I ordered something different
Our favorite Indian restaurant. We keep coming back. Excellent food and service!
Excellent food and service! The must: you can pick the level of spice in your meal!
Great food, and the servers were amazing. Super nice and checked in frequently. Would recommend.
Delicious food, wonderful service. Highly recommend!
The food was very good. It was so nice to visit the restaurant again. Food was slow to the table but they were busy.
Really had a nice time. Food was excellent, service was solid.
Always a great dinner at Shalimar.
Took over 1 hr for entree to arrive. Waitress was non-existent. Only got food after asking the host at the door where our dinners were. Seemed like many patrons were having the same issue. We sat by the door and saw countless carry out orders being filled. Seems like they are more interested in carry out rather than patrons sitting in the restaurant.
My wife and I have gone to Shalimar several times before, and it's always been a 5/5 star experience, but we went on Valentine's Day, and it was pure chaos! We were seated fairly quickly since I had a reservation, but we sat at our table for almost a half hour before someone came to take our drink order. We didn't mind too much because it was Valentine's Day, and it's always busy. Our poor waiter was running around the whole time - it might've taken almost an hour and a half to get our food and drinks, but it was worth it! Their food is amazing, but being prepared for Valentine's Day, not so much. This is a great place to go and eat, and we'll definitely be going back, just not on February 14th.
Food was great as usual, but service on Valentines Day was unbelievably slow. I’m guessing they may have been understaffed or somehow not expecting the volume for the holiday, but it literally took nearly 2 hours before we had our main course in front of us. I had to leave before we could even get dessert and my SO had to stay another 45 minutes to get dessert (part of the special 4-course meal) and the bill.
Very strange service. A tall man approached us moments after we sat down and asked if we were ready to order. We hadn’t even had time to look at the menu!
We ordered a couple of beers that took a long time to arrive. I think they had to tap a new keg. Poor timing.
Eventually, a very nice young woman came to wait on us, but there was little she could do about the inefficiency in the kitchen.
Our food took WAY Too Long to arrive. We had to threaten to leave before they got it to us.
We likely won’t go back.
Unfortunately we had to wait ten minutes at our table before we saw our host. After that faux pax it was great. Food was the best in months.
Just ok. Variety of buffet no so interesting.
Excellent as usual
The food was delicious! Staff are very attentive and pleasant. Enjoyed our meal!
