Enjoyed the food and services.... They make the reasons for going out worth the time.
LOVE this restaurant! The foods are so good. It’s the only time my mouth rejoices!
It’s my favorite on/for my birthday!
Outstanding service and delicious food in a comfortable setting. We felt welcomed as though we were a guest in their home.
Food is always good. My tandoori chicken was moist and delicious.
Went to Shalimar on Christmas Eve. Absolutely delicious authentic Indian food. Fresh, savory and flavorful! Upscale Indian in a great downtown Ann Arbor location.
It's a wonderful place to eat
Very tasty meal. Quick service.
This is a very fine establishment that is well worth dining in.
The staff was on top of everything. We went for my grandfathers 95th birthday. He has some dietary needs. They met them with no issue. My entire family was raving how things have turned around there.
I’m impressed and I am excited to go back again.
Very attentive staff. Excellent food.
The food was so yummy!!! Can’t wait to go back!!
Very nice and accommodating staff. Food was good but no exceptional. We had palak paneer and chicken tikka masala as well as a shrimp dish. They all could have been tastier
I loved the ease of reservation. Food was food however food is excellent when ordering ala carte. Buffet food lacked freshness to some extent. Service was great. It served our purpose of family get together. They can use more space. Over all we love Shalimar.
They were having an off night. The service was slow and disorganized and the food was not hot enough.
Really enjoyed Shalimar for their Sunday Brunch Buffet. Great value for our family. The wait staff was very attentive.
Really good food, attentive waitstaff. The cocktails are OK, but that is not their strength. Really good food is what they are known for.
We came for a family celebration. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was good for a crowd. We all shared. When I asked, the waiter brought out a birthday treat with a candle. We were impressed!
It was my husbands birthday, we had 7 people. The service and food were outstanding. They let me bring in my own Birthday cake. Overall it was a great evening.
Restaurant opens at noon on Sunday. I was able to make a reservation for 11:30am at Open Table. Waited around outside for a half hour! Not cool. Food excellent. Hot chai cold and weak. Service excellent. Food made it worth the hassle.
Family birthday and anniversary! Everything great but fish tandoori—dry
We love Indian food, but have often been disappointed at local restaurants. This food was amazing and the atmosphere pleasant and comfortable. Our now favorite place to eat on special occasions!
Great food and beverages. Good service, never felt rushed though wasn’t very busy on a Monday evening. One of our faves...
Absolutely love this place! Food and service is amazing and everything I’ve had on the menu has been delicious! Great place in a great location
The staff at Shalimar went out of their way to accommodate me and my guest. Their hospitality was superb. The food was very tasteful and nicely presented. The bill was reasonable. Can't ask for more. I will definitely want to enjoy another dining experience at this restaurant.
Up until now, Shalimar has been reliable for good Indian food and timely service. On this visit, it took nearly 1 hour to get our entrees and the food was average to say the least. Perhaps there is a new chef or they were having problems in the kitchen, but this was a most disappointing visit. And, there was no explanation or apology for the unacceptably long wait to get our food. It will be a shame if this is the new norm for them.
great food !!! good service !!! we wil be back !!!
Nick, our waiter was outstanding. Butter chicken very good.
Just wonderful as always
Never ever visit the restaurant, they are serving the stored food. Food is too expensive as well, it’s a worst restaurant.
Cocktails were unique but not very alcoholic in taste.
I love Indian food, and this is good Indian food, so I'm happy when I go there. It's not the VERY BEST I've ever had, but I've eaten at many, many Indian places, here and in India. It's very good. The atmosphere is excellent. Inside is pretty quiet and outside on a nice day is extremely pleasant. The people are friendly, and it's always an enjoyable experience. There is another place is town that most people consider #1 (with this #2), but I usually prefer going here because it's less crowded, no long wait, and very enjoyable. (And it IS crowded enough to be considered very popular, so don't worry about that.) Also you can reserve, so no waiting.
We had a very nice time with great service and great food. The waiter made some good suggestions and we were happy with the meal and with the cocktails and wine
I've been to Shalimar before, and had good experiences with the food, so this visit was a surprise. Everyone in my party asked for their food to be either Medium or Hot in spice level, and all of them were incredibly mild and mostly tasteless, as though no spices at all were used, and the naan was lukewarm. It had taken excessively long to get our food in the first place, that we just ate, paid, and left, but it was a disappointment, and not worth the money we paid for it.
As always, the food was very good. Unfortunately the service was not. They were short staffed and we had to wait a long time to place our order and to get our food. And some of our food never came, even though we asked about it. The missing food was ultimately was packed up to go at the time the bill was paid. We were given 15% off our bill, but I would rather have had my food in a timely manner.
We went to Shalimar for my son’s 21st birthday; he was craving their Mango Lassi. We took my mom. We ordered the Chef’s special Chicken Lemon Tadeka (?), Chicken Punjabi Masala, the Mixed Grill, and a vegetarian cauliflower dish (my mom ordered it; can’t remember the exact name.) We all loved our meals except my mom; she wasn’t thrilled with the cauliflower dish. We did have their cauliflower appetizer, which was excellent. The service was great, and as a surprise, at the end, they presented my son with a piece of mango cheesecake with “Happy Birthday” written in jam on the plate. Overall we really enjoyed the meal, and will definitely return.
One of the best gems in downtown Ann Arbor. I never tire of the cuisine and the service. The garlic nan is always perfect. I wish they had Kingfisher beer more often but Taj Mahal is always fresh.
Love the food
Worst experience ever.
Terrible experience. If there is way to give no stars I would do it. Our server behaved as if he was doing us a favor. We had to tell him his job.
Do not order "Sesame cauliflour" seemed precooked and just heated up in microwave for us with ketchup and soy sauce on top.
We had not finished eating our dinner and the server started clearing without asking if we were done. When pointed out we were not done, he just decided to leave everything on the table and ruined the remaining food by keeping dirty plates on top. Shamelessly expected us to eat it too.
When pointed this out to the manager he (manager) apologized but our evening was ruined by that time.
My wife’s chicken was raw inside. Nan bread was cold to touch. Service was inattentive. This place used to be on my regular rotation given I work downtown. I haven’t been in awhile. I don’t think I’ll go back again.
The food was great and we were well taken care of by staff. Nice place for a date night, and people watching if you're by a window. So happy to have found a decent Indian restaurant....have already recommended to family.
