I ate here with my wife and 3 sons for mother’s day and everything from the service to the food was great. My wife ordered a watermelon margarita which she wasn’t happy with and the waitress gladly got it remade for her. Good food , good service, good times!
Great food! Amazing in fact! The drink were subpar and service was overwhelmed and not friendly. We waited 15-20 minutes for drinks ordered when we arrived. We didn’t see our waiter/security guard most of the night.
I would visit again but maybe the bar or other location as it was that bad of service at the table top seating.
The crabs was overcooked. The medium sauce I requested was extremely hot. I could not eat it because of the heat I was in discomfort and kept coughing. I suggest making the sauce less intense if you have hot on the menu and the two is the same intensity why even bother having the two if it is the same. Take away from the enjoyment of the meal.
It was good food
The food was a little too salty, otherwise it was good. The service was good. We were there between 4:30 to 6 on Sunday. It was not busy so it was rather quiet.
Best location I have ever been to. Spacious, very clean, the food and waiters were great.
The food was out of this world.
It was great and food was good. We will come again!
Best shaking crab I ever had. Donna was a great waitress!
The food was horrible, the drinks were expensive but the bartender didn’t fill the entire cup. The music was the only good thing
Amazing food especially for the value. Good service not excellent but overall okay. Definitely recommended if you are a seafood lover! Will return for another round!
Have tried some of the best seafood boils in Las Vegas, Florida, and DC so we were excited to try the same in Boston. We were disappointed with the flavor (or lack of). Gumbo was not very good and clam chowder was only served warm (but tasty). Po boys were ok, but bread was not toasted. Seafood boil in a bag lacked sauce. We won’t be back.
The food was excellent as always, but this was our first time at the Cambridge location. As soon as I set foot in the door I knew there would be a problem with the excessive music level. I immediately asked the hostess to turn it down and she said she would see what she could do. We were seated in a far corner and it seemed as though the noise level was almost tolerable, but very quickly it increased to a very unpleasant level. Two or three times during the evening I asked for the sound to be turned down and it seem to work briefly but then very quickly the volume became intolerable again. I would strongly advise that no one ever plan to have dinner in this restaurant. The service was also very weak. We ordered a large salad to share and it was brought to the table without any plates! Although we requested them no oneever appeared. I went and hunted down another server who then had someone bring over small paper containers
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for takeout but will never die in here again
Service was awful food was awful everything about the place was awful and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy
Came all the way from ct...had a amazing time food was delicious and music was on point
Great food. Great dining experience. Service was a little slow. Only 1 bartender for the whole resturant... maybe understaffed for the night. Absolutely would return
I was disappointed with the service I received; I ordered a cocktail from their menu and then they told me that their drink menu wasn't live yet. I don't understand why they would distribute this menu before it's ready. The drink that I wanted was a simple Mai Tai made with Captain Morgan and Triple Sec, so I'm not sure why the bar wasn't ready to make it given that it required no special ingredients. Instead, the waiter offered me their "standard" Mai Tai. Fine. However, when the bill came the "standard" Mai Tai that I got was more expensive than the specialty Mai Tai I originally tried to purchase! The sum of this experience gave me a sour taste and made it feel as though they were taking advantage of me.
My first time will not be the last time. I even think my picky eater of a sin would enjoy this place!!! 👍🏾❤❤
Fun Experience, and good food. Shrimp was my favorite. Garlic noodles were delicious. Would recommend and will be going back.
This place was amazing from their buttery garlic bases to their hospitality. Namee was AMAZING. She always had a genuine smile on her face and checked on us just the perfect amount of times. Would definitely come again and recommend this to my friends!
The food was pretty good, and it was definitely a unique experience. But the service was comically bad. The hostess who sat us forgot to tell the servers about us, so it took about ten minutes for someone to finally come by to take our drink orders. Then they got our order wrong twice! It took about ten minutes to finally flag someone down to bring us the check -- we actually ended up going to the front to ask the hostess. And then, to top it off, we got the folio back with the receipt but no credit card. We had to get up again to ask the hostess to find our credit card.
We absolutely love Shaking Crab!! Our first time at the Cambridge location because Quincy was closed. This location is huge and we were impressed by the amount of seating they provide. The service was a little slow but it was New Year's Eve so we understood. Nevertheless, the food was very-very good. My hubby and son ordered the gumbo and didn't care for it; thought they needed to get the recipe from the Quincy location. The drinks were really good, the waiter was happy and very polite and they all seemed to work great as a team. The food portions were very impressive; they really know how to take care of you. So... amazing food, great svc, great location and great portions. I would give them a 8.7 out of 10. The gumbo was the only thing that we didn't like but that's no biggie. We will definitely be back.
The service is very kind and the atmosphere is cozy, dim, and great for a dinner out. Dark wood furniture and warm yellow lights make it an experience. The food is delicious. They have crab, shrimp, lobster, and other foods. My favorite was the fried corn and the shrimp. You can choose your rub and spice level. Highly recommend.
We were initially seated next to a trashcan in a messy front corner of the restaurant. We requested a change in seating to another table for 4 which the maitre'd didn't want to break up for two diners even though the restaurant was and remained fairly empty. She did eventually seat us at that table. After each order I requested, the server said the restaurant was out of that item. This occurred three times. In the end I had a shrimp po'boy that was tasteless. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
Really fun atmosphere, and the food was served hot and fresh.
Some of the food was overcooked
It was fun to eat Cajun crawfish out of a bag!
I made reservation for 9:15 I wasn't seated until 935pm with a table of 4 children and myself so imagine the issue here
They were “out” of so many items. The good was ok but not great. Just other seafood options around. I don’t plan to return.
I went on a Sunday an got the special which was grilled lobster I asked waiter about it and he said he never tried it but has taken many orders for it. I never had lobster grilled either, my thoughts were it was dried and not moist. I would go back and get it poached next time.
This place was awesome went for my birthday with family & we all had fun and got messy but overall the the food & service was nothing but perfect I would go back again especially to the Cambridge Location
Initially my order of food was mushy. The crabs were over done as we're my shrimp. We said something to Simon our incredibly wonderful waiter who immediately dealt with it took the order back and I got a perfectly steamed bag of crabs and my shrimp were perfect and the potatoes were perfect it was all good. Not sure what happened with the first bag other than as Simon said the kitchen was busy and maybe somebody left it in too long. Other than that it's a great restaurant. You can do a lot of this yourself but if you don't want to then go to Shaking Crab.
Went for date night with the wife, excellent food, service and atmosphere. Large draft beer selection that we enjoyed would recommend it to anyone that likes shellfish. Only downfall is they only have about 4 parking spaces. There is a lot in the back that you pay for and they will validate your ticket to give you a discount.
Fun place to go with friends. Tasty seafood, especially love the shrimp.
Our server Namee (may be mispelling) was the best! She was super friendly and sweet! The food was delicious! Great value for seafood for sure.
The food is great here but I've been here several times now and the service is consistently bad. Waiter not attentive. Takes order and disappears. I'm always surprised at how slow business is here on a Saturday night. It should be packed. I know the issue is the terrible service. Mis-managed.
Great people, great food. Bar was a little slow eventhough it was only us and one other group in there but overall would recommend.
Food is quite bland. The crawfish is not as good as many have said ... compared it to the other joints I have been to ( e.g. the one in D.C) . The seasoning is not thorough i.e. as in the shrimps and crawfish has not absorbed the seasoning by the time it is served served. Some of the crawfish are oversized, making the shell very hard.
So the food was amazing and the staff was awesome. Except the manager. Told him my lobster was under cooked. Which it was and he tried to convince me it wasn't. Black goo isn't supposed to drip out. When its cooked its solid. He argued with me and said he confirmed it with his chef. Well of your chef thinks the "black goo" is ok to eat.... there is bigger issues.
The food is served in a sauce but still lacks flavor and seasoning. If the seafood was cooked in the sauce maybe it would be more flavorful.
