Liked that the flights were labeled. We had cheese and crackers plate along with a margherita pizza that was really good. Friendly staff, nice and clean. Enjoyed the seating areas.
I made a reservation for 6 people to sit outside on a great sunny day. When we arrived, all outdoor seating was taken by non-reservation groups. We were told the only place available was upstairs in the loft area. We took our wine and food and left to go home on our own deck. As they said in Seinfeld, it’s easy to take a reservation, but harder to hold on to them!
This system is a complete waste of time.
Love the outside tables with the entertainment. Wish there were waiting staff outside.
We love Shady Creek Winery, the wine is great, but most of all the staff is the best, Jane and Emily are our favorites. We love the fact that Jimmy comes out and mingles with the guests. The new owners seem to be terrific as well. We have been coming here for several years and is one of our favorites. Keep up the good work.
I only wish you could have the tastings outside 😕
We try and make it at least once a month and being wine club members we love the assortment we receive.
Expected more from this place. I thought it was an actual winery like there would be a farm nearby with grapes or some other fruits/trees to explore. But this was just a basic building with tables inside to drink very regular wine and a couple of tables outside with nothing special. Food was eh and everything was served on plain plastic plates! Wine was very basic like something from the grocery store. Visited Lemon Creek Winery last year, and left with 2 full boxes of wine. Would not go to this place again.
I thought the prices were high for 3 tastings, but we had fun overall. My friend absolutely enjoyed the sweet Riesling. My friend and I had the dry Riesling, we prefer dry wines, and both traded it in for another tasting because we didn’t like it at all. I made my own flight. It was OK. I felt the white wines should’ve been colder. We didn’t order food, but from what I could see it looked great! There were a lot of people there and the grounds are beautiful. It wasn’t the best Indiana wine I’ve ever had. Our server was nice, but was new and couldn’t tell us anything about the wines.
Very nice setting and friendly staff. Not to mention the wine and mimosas were delicious!
Excellent place! We really enjoyed the wine and the service was great, delicious cheeses and crackers
Making the reservation was very helpful. The staff was pleasant and joyful.
Staff, service, wine, and food were very good. I definitely will be back!
This would be my 4th time at Shady Creek but first time during Covid. All have equally been enjoyable and accommodating. This recent visit on 10/10/20 felt very comfortable and organized. All tables were distanced appropriately, everything was very clean including the restrooms. Wine was delicious as always and the outdoor ambiance was very relaxing and beautiful.
Very nice and relaxing establishment. Friendly staff, nice selection of wines. Love the new decor
This was the first time I was here. We really enjoyed it. We ate and had wine outside and a great environment. The staff was very friendly. A great experience.
Well, we thought this was brunch. You know, brunch, mimosas, eggs, bacon, french toast. But this was more like charcuterie. Cheese tray, hummus, flatbread.
I get that this is covid, but our cheese platter came to us in a white styrofoam container with the most basic crackers and cheese. Seriously club crackers and pre-cut cheddar. It’s my fault for not looking for or reading the menu beforehand.
And they were sold out of their two most popular wines- and it doesn’t say that in the website. They are just scratched out on the chalkboard when you walk in.
Service was adequate and delightful, but it didn’t make up for the styrofoam to-go container masquerading as brunch.
Service and atmosphere was spectacular. The staff was helpful and polite.
Great wine, food and atmosphere
Everything was amazing, mostly the pizza
Stopped by after a day at the dunes, to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine with my parents. Right off the bat, they are VERY good with COVID precautions. Taking temperatures, masks required, spaced out tables outside and all the food came served on disposable plates. The ambiance outside was absolutely lovely, with live music and a good sized crowd for a Sunday afternoon (but not too crowded). They’re doing a bit of construction behind the outdoor space, but there was no noise or anything like that to take away from the setting.
Wines were good, but I thought a little overpriced considering it’s straight from the vendor... and the fact that the winery is a little far out from a major city. We split a bottle of white (The Albariño) for $28... it was fine but not particularly flavorful for the price point. Also tried the cherry wine and the rose which were delightful- much more fun and full bodied.
For food, we got a cheese plate and the baked Brie to snack on. It could be just bc they were plated on disposable plates but the portions seemed really tiny for an app priced at $11 (especially since the margin would be pretty low on adding in another half of an apple, some more bread or extra grapes). Minus one star because of the prices, but overall a lovely experience.
This is the second time when they claim not to have my opened table reservation. I don’t think they update their paper reservation book with open table reservations.
This place was wonderful as usual and we were a little worried what it would be like during this time of social distancing however they were very accommodating and we had an amazing experience. You could either have a flight inside or buy a bottle of wine and go outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We love this place and highly recommend it.
Disappointed when asked inside or out we weren't told flights cant be ordered outside and she even asked if we had ever been there before, which we hadn't.
We are members of the wine club. Love Shady Creek!
Outdoor music is great. A bit cold . Heaters not operating.
Everone was very friendly and the pizza, charcuterie and wine were delicious. Great anniversary night out!
There was no service you had to completely wait on yourself. There were people behind the bar, but no wait staff at all. Not my idea of a fun lunch. Constantly getting up to go order to pick up food. Even going inside to pay your bill. Very limited menu, not the menu on their website. They need to update website to tell people how they are really operating.
We were celebrating our honeymoon and wanted to go to a tasting. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were told there were no tastings. Just glasses. Never been to a winery that didn’t offer tastings on a Saturday. If you’re looking for an actual wine tasting then go else where.
We had a nice waitress, but the hostess was a little less than cordial. We chose to sit inside and thought the building was very nice, but the noise level was so loud that it was very hard to talk to others at our table. There was live music and they were really good, but maybe the volume was a bit too high. The food and wine was good.
Came here for the bubbly brunch. There was not a menu online to look at before but there really was not much to choose from other than a Breakfast Pizza and some wine pairings. Regardless though, the service was great, the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed our wine.
Great place, decent food options, decent prices and a good selection of wine.
Since this was my first time here, wished when being welcomed to have been educated more of options to taste test a wider variety of wine.
They have a quaint setting with ample spacing to accommodate Covid requirements.
Appetizer waa very taaty!
The staff is very friendly and we were taken care of very quickly. The atmosphere is luxurious and laid back at the same time. We followed their suggestions on wine and the food was delicious. It looks they are building on more so we are excited to come back and see the progress. We took 3 bottles of wine home with us.
Beware that Open Table overbooks reservations with Shady Creek. When you book a reservation through Shady Creek's website, you have no choice but to do it through Open Table, as they are contracted with them to do their reservations. Therefore, I had made a reservation, which was subsequently confirmed. I also received a reminder email the day before, to which I also responded back to confirming we would be attending. When we arrived at Shady Creek, they had no record of the reservation, and the hostess told us the Open Table often overbooks them. They had no tables available. After waiting a while, she sat us in some seats (not technically a table) on the side of the building, right next to a big dumpster where they are doing construction.
It was not at all the experience we were hoping for, and I doubt I will go back based on what occurred. If Open Table overbooks them, then they need to find a different way to do reservations. You can't let the customers pay the price, when they are following the process that the business has in place to make a reservation.
The winery was overbooked, and the staff was very overwhelmed. The food was average and seemed very rushed. Our waitress did what she could to make sure we had a good experience.
We had a beautiful day sitting outside by the pond enjoying a nice bottle of wine. We felt safe and we were definitely socially distancing with no problem. Staff was wonderful. Highly recommend 🍷🍷🍷
For a for a first time experience this was perfect. Staff was super nice and attentive!
Loved everything about how they decorated the outdoors to look and feel like you were sitting in a Napa Valley vineyard. Peaceful and Relaxing!
Appetizer charcuterie platter was $19 and awful....
Poorly presented, Oscar Meyer salami, stale scant cheese.
A real overpriced disappointment!
Despite visiting during the COVID 19 pandemic, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves.
