Italian
Sfoglina (sfoal-YEE-nah) is a casual Italian trattoria and pasta house named for the artisans and Italian cultural icons that carry on the tradition of rolling sheets of pasta by hand with a rolling pin, a technique passed through the generations. Sfoglina is a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient.

Service excellent, ambiance fine. Well above market rate for food (lunch for 2 without wine was over $120 with tip). My meatballs were cold, while pasta and sauce were very good temperatures. Expect way higher kitchen quality given pricing. Pasta itself was very good, salads were tasty and good portions. Not happy with the temperature of my food and very unhappy with the pricing.

Really good food and fairly priced! Just make sure you ask for tap water so you don’t get charged $9 for a bottle of water.

All the food is excellent, but the chocolate hazelnut cake is the best dessert in the entire DC area. Unbelievably delicious!

Friday night must be always very busy there because I tried to make reservation 3 weeks in a row. Despite of being full, my husband and I felt well taken care off, service was great and attentive. Food was delicious. We will come back for sure, if without reservation you can always seat at the bar, what we might consider next time :)

Definitely lived up to the hype! Specifically would recommend the meatballs to start, buffalo mozzarella was very good, lobster pasta and I think the cacio pepe pasta was my favorite. Definitely must try, definitely make a reservation if going on the weekend 👍

First time experience in October was spectacular. Service at dinner this time was spotty. There didnt seem to be any communication between servers. Maybe it was an off night. The food is very good.

Perfectly charming venue in a busy office building - very much "in the city" feeling. Great variety of excellent food to choose from. I highly recommend the splurge for the fresh mozzarella bar. Lunchtime was packed, so a bit noisy. Service was very odd. Some items came quickly and then we would sit forever for the next one. Overall, I look forward to going back for another meal.

We really enjoyed our time at Sfoglina. Everything was great, ambiance, decor, food, atmosphere, etc. The only thing that was not favorable was the lack of explanation on the menu pricing. Their wine list is not set up as a standard menu are. They do not show pricing for bottles of wine and the menu is very misleading and our server did not explain this to us. We were charged $72 per bottle of wine when we thought it was $27 via what the menu said. Turns out their pricing for wine is per 9oz and 6oz. (which was not clear) We were shocked when we got the bill and the manager was a bit rude when we raised a question about this. He ended up taking it off which was nice, but that definitely made our experience not as great. Be sure to ask your server all pricings! :)

Staff could not have been nicer. We had a party of 8 in a semi-private area. Ambiance and service were outstanding as well as the food.

We had high hopes but were let down. The evening did not start out well, it took over 30 minutes to even get bread and wine. The rest of the meal arrived promptly, the quality was fine but not memorable. The tiramisu however was delicious. Overall just doesn't feel like a good value; will probably not be back. Sorry :/

Oh my God!! Finally Arlington gets an awesome pasta house! The squid ink fettuccine with lobster was out of this world! Great accompanists were the meatballs as a starter, the decadent tiramisu and the mezcal-based Negroni! The service was absolutely outstanding! We can’t until a return visit!

Rosslyn badly needs sit-down dining places, and the people behind Sflogina reportedly had a good track record for trendy, upscale restaurants. So I was excited to take a guest there for dinner who grew up in an Italian home and cooks Italian food all the time. We were disappointed. The place did look stylish, especially the bar, and we appreciated being seated at a nice booth (though the way the booths were set up, a wall came up past the line of sight when seated and blocked any view of the windows, plus the table rocked back and forth). It was the pricey food and service that really let us down. The beet "salad" turned out to be just chunks of plain, raw beets with a few lettuce threads and purple flower petals on it. The 3-cheese, tomato, and pasta entree was fairly tasty, but the ravioli entree consisted only of a bland, thin combination of a little, plain-tasting pasta, white cheese, and white sauce, with a bunch of lettuce tossed on top. Overall, the menu had a small selection of pasta dishes, none of which had any crossover to the also sparse meat dishes. A touch of lemon helped the hazelnut pound cake, but overall it was hard, dry, and, again, bland. Trying to make food "fancy" and "different" accomplishes little if it is not tasty and satisfying. The main server tended to be stiff and uncommunicative (like the hostesses), and, as another review said, dismissive of questions about traditional Italian food. Though the server sometimes opened up a bit, getting suggestions (including for wine) could feel like pulling teeth. While the other wait staff was more pleasant, and served the food promptly, so many servers came fussing around the table so often, they destroyed the mood. I appreciated the frequent re-filling of the (small) water glasses. But trying five, six, and more times to take away food before we were through eating became intrusive and maddening (and we were there for only an hour). I wish Sflogina well, but it is going to have to do better.

Food is tasty, and atmosphere was nice but service was very slow/poor. Took us 45 minutes to get a glass of wine...we were offered parmesan cheese after we were almost done and then it never came, etc. Wine is $24/glass of Chardonnay or cheapest bottle of Chardonnay was $75. For that price point there are much better places.

We dined at Sfoglina - Rosslyn for dinner. The service was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly, professional, and they made great recommendations. We really enjoyed everything we ordered (cheeses, charcuterie, meatballs, salads, veggies, pasta). I cannot believe how they transformed this space. My friends loved the artwork and attention to details. We are looking forward to our next dinner!

If I ever go back, which I’m not sure I will, I won’t order the cacio e pepe, which was weirdly dominated by lemon and not peppery like it is in Italy and everywhere else in the United States.

Absolutely FABULOUS! We have been meaning to check it out as we live 5 minutes away, why did we ever wait so long! The service was impeccable, gorgeous decor, wonderful people...but oh man it’s the food...WOW! The olive oil is like melted butter, yes, really...melted butter! Our wine was Pinot Grigio, to die for, smooth as silk...We had the gnocchi, I don’t know what else to say but it was without a doubt the best gnocchi I have had in my entire life, that’s saying something as I LOVE gnocchi and order it a lot but this was off the charts, been to Italy many times and this is so good it melts in your mouth! Also shared the ink linguine which was stupendous! Cucumber salad was spicy and unique...tiramisu for dessert was smooth as silk, we never have dessert but the food was so good we just had to try a dessert, another “off the charts”... last we had expresso martinis afterwards, they were like a creamy cloud!! How LUCKY are we to have this incredible, elegant themed restaurant in our neighborhood!!! A shout out to Carla, the manager, gracious, lovely, informative, attentive...Riya was our waitress, a true professional while also friendly, helpful and lovely...Thank you for a wonderful evening...we will be back...often!

Our first time at Sfoglina and we were really impressed. Every aspect of the experience was outstanding. We decided to sit at the bar and the service was excellent. We also shared a very good Caesar Salad the unlike any we ever had - a mix of greens (i.e., not just romaine) with a very clever round "crouton" with a cooked egg yoke inside. We shared a couple of pasta dishes and both were outstanding. The Roman Bucatini Noodles were excellent, perfectly cooked with a hint of lemon. And the Potato Gnocchi was off the charts, with a perfect blend of Porcini Crema, Mushrooms, Parmigiano Reggiano.

Overall, it's a little pricey, but it wouldn't stop me from going back - soon!!
