As always-Mara welcomes us w open arms and then we are served amazing food from her husband Massimo.
Love this place
We had such a good time the night before, we came back for a second bite at the Apple. The restaurant is fantastic and the food is very authentic Italian.
The truffle pasta dish was to die for.
Mara, the front of house, is very sweet and takes great care of her customers.
Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for authentic Italian dishes, served in a lovely atmosphere.
The pasta and service was great! Mara the owner was a great hostess and made us feel at home.
This was the first time we eat at this restaurant. Our Hostess greeted us right away, with enthusiasm. Turns out, she and her husband own the restaurant.
We were in northern Italy last June and this restaurant comes as close to "being in Italy" as we have had since our trip. We live in San Fran, where are lots of Italian restaurants, but this one really is special.
What a wonderful experience! The hostess made us feel like we were in her own home and the food tasted like it was prepared in Italy. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Sfixio has truly excellent food - fresh, very high quality ingredients, great menu with both standards and unique choices, and wonderful preparation. Ambiance is quiet and stylishly sophisticated. Service is warm and friendly. Every dish we have had in multiple visits has been exceptional.
I was hoping to add another go-to Italian restaurant to my list, but Sfixio will not be it. While the hostess/co-owner is lovely and welcoming, the food and ambience are not commensurate. The plating is odd (plates much too large for the portions), the quality of the food is just above average, and the decor and lighting do not come across as polished or refined. We will be sticking with Angelini.
An absolute gem of real Italian-Tuscan cuisine! No heavy, creamy, mushy pasta-stuff, but, original, light, fresh, innovative, yet traditional Italian dishes with fish, meat, pasta, salads and great desserts. Very relaxing atmosphere, ambient light and music, outstandingly friendly service with heart and passion!
Excited to find a new neighborhood gem! We have passed Sfixio many times and finally decided to try it out. We are not sorry we did. Most pleasant quiet atmosphere. A husband and wife team who take great pride in what they serve. We are pesacatarian and there were multiple fish and vegetable options to choose from. The branzino was exceptional as was the tuna carpaccio, the artichoke salad and the vegetable pasta. All sauces are very light without heavy tomato or garlic flavors. We will definitely return again soon.
Completely outstanding every time I come! Their food is always fresh and truly amazing!
It’s like dining in Italy. Don’t come here in a hurry...savor the experience and the great food.
What a wonderful time we had enjoying the best service, food and wine! The evening was excellent. We felt like we were welcomed in someone's home and served food made with love and authenticity. I recommend this restaurant for any one looking for a beautiful dinner!
Wonderful attention to service. Food was very authentic - wonderful flavor combinations with the appetizers and pastas! Great wine recommendations. We hope to come back. Thanks to the host and chef for the meal
Everything from the decor to food to people working there were top notch!
I love focus on ingredients, not over flavored spicing. Hi quality food on beautiful Etro china, every detail carefully chosen.
One of my very favorites!
Food is fresh, wine is outstanding and service is perfect. Thank you!
This was our fourth time at Sfixio. We love it. We were on the Amalfi Coast a few years ago and this restaurant reminds us of that dining experience. Beautiful food, expertly prepared and served, European style portions (that means human size as opposed to behemoth size) and a wonderful modern, chic ambiance. This time I had the special. Oxtail ragu. Oh My God! It was sublime. My wife had the salmon.....exquisite. We'll be back many more times.
Some of the best pasta I have ever had. Excellent find in BH.
Always amazing. If there's a better Italian restaurant in Los Angeles I don't know of it.
Every aspect of the evening was perfect. An undiscovered gem.
The most outstanding Italian restaurant in LA, simply the best!
Neighborhood secret! The food is fresh, tasty, not heavy. The panna cota is out of this world! Pasta, buratta , squid, calamari, branzino & steak were excellent!
I feel like I’m back in Italy. Very nice decor- high ceilings, soft music, NOT noisy!!! Family run restaurant. Def a repeater.
Mara and her husband Massimo have a splendid , authentic Italian gem! The food was fabulous and the service was fantastic. We laughed with Mara all evening long and all of her recommendations were perfect. I’m eating there again soon!
We chose Sfixio because we wanted to share this wonderful experience with Italian-savvy friends who had never been here. Massimo prepared his usual perfect meal, but this evening also stepped in as a charming host. The food, the ambience, the service, the hospitality provided as welcoming and warm and wonderful an evening as we have come to rely on in this gem of a restaurant.
Amazing restaurant. The chef, Mauricio, came out to speak with us personally. He’s so passionate about his cooking. And charming. And his cooking is sublime. We love Sfixio. Going back in a few weeks. Can’t wait.
The hostess was very friendly and personable enhancing first impressions. The food is fresh and the chef prepared excellent food Everyone was very pleased with the restaurant and will visit again
Absolutely wonderful evening at Sfixio! The meal was simply amazing. Mara is a delight. Close your eyes and you'll be back in Florence. My new favorite!
Best gnudis in the city. The freshest Italian food, made to order. We highly recommend Sfixio
Love the food and decor and there is a small lounge that is great -at this restaurant but it isnt very busy so there is really no vibe!
A couple of suggestions:
Portions are way to small for the price-the food is great but this is an issue
Need a happy hour to draw some new customers it will create a nice fresh vibe!
Nice decor and music wasn't obnoxiously loud. We were warmly welcomed, seated promptly, and the table had a rose and chocolates for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. Service was unbearably slow (at least 20 minutes between each dish after finish the prior course) and food was subpar. The tuna tartare's appearance was very unappetizing and was not fresh. The pasta with caviar tasted distinctly like pasta water and the truffle pasta was overcooked and mushy. Both the Chilean sea bass and grilled lamb entrees were also overcooked. The sea bass was slightly rubbery and the lamb was well done. We sent the lamb entree back to the kitchen, only to have the chef storming out and berating us about how we don't know how to eat lamb (2 of the 3 pieces were cooked well-done, one was barely pink which he used to tell us that it was cooked perfectly). We were in so much shock that we didn't know what to say. We elected to leave mid-meal so the kind hostess and wife of the chef offered us wine to go with our dessert to stay, but we don't drink and we just couldn't accept after the abhorrent interaction with the husband/chef. We just couldn't and didn't want stay any longer. We paid for what we ordered and left. I sincerely hope that our experience was anomalous, especially given the other glowing reviews. I have never had a dining experience like this and I hope I never will again.
this was the second time we have had dinner here. it is now one of our favorite places and will be part of our rotation for great food and service. fully recommend this place, you will not be disappointed
Sfixio is one of our favorite restaurants, and for sure our favorite Italian restaurant! Not only is the food authentic, but creative, delicious, fresh, organic, and made to order. They do not own a freezer...rather, they shop each day for the freshest ingredients. What more can one ask??? The owners, Mara (at the front) and Massimo (our chef), are like family. They are warm and always happy to add to the Sfixio family! Highest rating ever! By the way...don't miss the truffle pasta!
This is my favorite restaurant. Love the pasta with the truffle and the branzino is to die for! Very cozy and the owners really care about freshness of the food!
Sfixio was a pleasure from the moment we stepped through the door. The restaurant is run by the chef and his lovely wife, who greeted us warmly. Softly lit, with just the right level of music, this place is a rarity in Los Angeles--a place where you can talk and here your dining companions' responses!
That alone would be enough to bring me back, but then there is the food--excellent Italian dishes that are lovingly prepared with super-fresh ingredients. And the service is delightful--
we felt like cherished patrons. Sfixio is a very special place, indeed.
We simply love Sfixio. The food is simply amazing and always satisfies without making you feel overly full. Every dish is so fresh. In a word great!
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in LA and I’ve tried many. The ambiance, food, service, crowd elegant modern and amazing food. We are NY’ers (who live in both places now) where there are many awesome Italian Restaurants and sfixio stacks up
Amazing dinner wonderful atmosphere and very gracious husband and wife team ! Wife make the front of the house friendly and warm and husband makes the food exciting and fresh
Dinner at Sfixio was fantastic. It was our first time there but it won't be the last. Owners Mara and Massimo have created a warm and inviting restaurant. Mara greated us at the door with a big smile, got us seated quickly, made us a cocktail, and offered us helpful suggestions on their menu, dishes which Chef Massimo prepared perfectly. It was a really pleasant evening all around.
My wife and I have eaten at Sfixio several times in the last two months. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The menu is very good and the execution is flawless. We plan to eat there again soon.
The pasta dishes were excellent - home made and the Lemon pasta was tasty and home made. I had the veal which was flavorful and cooked just right! The appetizers of Artichoke were small but was able to share with 3 others - more of heart of the Artichoke. Dessert was puff balls - cold and not warm. The wine I picked out a 2006 Brunello was reasonably priced at $80.00 - however, they were sold out and the server (wife of the Chef) brought over a 2012 for $100 but discounted it to $90.00 (Should have offered it at the $80.00 price). There were no substitutes for side dishes (i.e., pasta in place of potatoes). Hard fast rule??
Not cheap, ambiance was minimalist.
