Came to Severance to start off our anniversary and had a great time! The wine selection was obviously awesome. The truffle parm fries were perfect. The prosciutto do Parma came with apricots and whole grain mustard, which was a perfect complement to the Parma. Most importantly, as a small business operating in the time of COVID, the server was friendly and prompt as if it was a normal night. I can’t wait to come back!
It felt very safe & socially distanced. The food & wine were excellent as always.
Great well spaced, patio. Quiet and charming. Amazing service, food and of course wine. Try the caviar and potato chips paired with Cava!🥂
Loved this place pre-Covid. Tried their outside sidewalk dining, and glad we ventured back out. Everything felt clean and safe. Can’t wait to try their champagne bar (coming soon). Still has great food, and excellent service. Never had a bad glass of wine here. Extraordinarily knowledgeable sommelier. Trust his picks. Especially love the Etna Rosso red. Burger is big, you may want to split it. Brussel Sprouts, Burrata and Burger was the perfect combo for two. Also love their “schtick” aka “Severance pay” themes throughout the restaurant. Looking forward to a post-Covid world where things can get back to normal. Support this place!!
Came looking for fondue and was not disappointed. We were pretty early in evening and wasn’t crowded. Would definitely go back.
Went there post quarantined. Great food and amazing service. Chilled vibe. Will definitely go back
Severance is my favorite bar on Melrose! The food is to die for and the wine selection is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to go back. Definitely try the creme brûlée!
Cozy wine bar with an excellent wine list, wines by the glass, ½ bottle or bottle. The charcuterie board was a bit pricey, but goes well with the beverages. Very friendly service, very knowledgable staff.
It was great. Food was great. It is pricey. But for a special date night, it's a good place
Why is it so difficult to find decent fondue? The burger is the best thing in there. Everything else is mediocre at best. Never again. I can literally make better fondue at home and that’s sad, because I’m awful.
We were very sad to hear of your experience with us. We generally have a very positive reaction to our fondues which are very authentic to the traditional Swiss style. Each is made from scratch to order with all top quality cheeses and utilizing wine we pour by the glass at the bar. Sometimes people expect more of an American "Melting Pot" experience where the recipe is just pure melted cheese. While we respect everyone's preference, we do not and will not serve this style of fondue.
This place is great. Wonderful ambiance, great customer service, food was top notch and the drink menu is extensive. We were there at 5:30 and it wasn't busy so it was easy to talk but by 7:30 the place is packed. The noise level never got too loud because the place is small and intimate. We'll definitely be back
Everything was absolutely perfect. Service was friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. The food was outstanding. The wine pairings were delicious. It's cozy and warm. It gets a little loud as the hour gets later. I will definitely go back!
My fiancé and I were told about this place by OpenTable! We love a good wine bar. We beach did a white wine tasting then got one of their specialty cocktails - my favorite was the blood orange one.
Food: we got the Mixed Board (cheese and meats), pretzel bites and poutine fries to share. All was delicious! For dessert we got the chocolate fondu. I was really happy to see it came with pieces of olive cake to dip in the chocolate. I honesty just kept eating the cake pieces without chocolate - I love olive oil cake!
We’re really happy a place like this exists in our neighborhood. Everyone was really nice and amazing. Definitely will be back.
The fondue tasted horrible with overly stale bread and the food in general was below mediocre
It was just fine. Nothing special
Great date spot off Melrose Ave with a ton of variety!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere for a night out. The food and wine were great too! Fried olives and brussell sprouts were my favorite!
Fantastic service. Great wine selection and delectable charcuterie. Exceeded expectations.
Amazing spot. Good food, good service, amazing spot!
The cheese fondue was amazing. I forgot which one I got but it was the most popular dish according to the waiter.
The people at this establishment are lovely. Attentive and helpful. Their selection of wine is interesting & tasty. But the food selection is very limited, and what they do offer is pretty bad. Not sure how you can mess up Marcona almonds, but they did (either stale or microwaved). If they brought in a chef to create a simple menu, it would help. I would also suggest not serving the “flight” of white wine all at once because who wants warm white wine? Crossing my fingers that management seeks some advice🤞🏻 as we really want to see this place succeed in our neighborhood!
Fab burgers & an exceptional wine list. Passionate owner really cares about you. I highly recommend you try this place.
Excellent food and wine options. Very friendly staff. Cute theme throughout the menu and restaurant. Great value. Definitely recommend!
Great branding, cool space, mediocre food. Good place to grab a cocktail and chat but wouldn’t eat dinner here again.
DineLA was so fun for a girls night out!
We wanted to get fondue and stumbled upon Severance while looking on Yelp. It is a cozy little wine bar that serves up lots of cheese delicacies. The server was amazing, he was patient and very attentive. He answered all questions and was very knowledgeable about the wine and cheeses. We got a cheese board with salami, cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. The cheese fondue was not runny and we loved that texture and it was perfect to dip and eat with the veggies, bread. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and come back.
Great burgers, pretzel bread, paté and charcuterie. Trying new things.
Food was fantastic and the whole staff was on the spot if ever we needed anything. Only complaint was the very loud birthday party standing around behind us, but whatcha gonna do? We started with the Brusselsprouts and gruyere fondue, paired with the French red flight for myself and the amber ale for my beaux. Exquisite. We then had fried olives and the meat board. The fried olives were unexpected and the charcuterie was delightful. I then had a glass of the Burgundy (I wanted the gamay, but they were out so they allowed me to taste the other burgundy, which was a little more expensive but they met the gamay price). Would definitely go again, especially on a quieter night (so perhaps earlier than 9pm on a Saturday!)
Great service and great food. Extensive wine and cocktail menu without being too crazy. Excellent for small group gatherings or one-on-one dates/dinners.
We came for the fondue and was underwhelmed...not sure what kind of cheese was used...it did not have any real flavor...gruyere and emmental are strong cheeses....didn't find it on this visit...
The service was wonderful and cheerful....the home made chips were very good....the little gem salad was also underwhelming....wanted to like this place....
Birthday celebration with girlfriends. Loved the spot but I think it was a little over priced for the value.
It was great. Evan and his whole staff were outstanding. The wine selection is OUT OF THIS WORLD, especially at the prices. Quality wine bar in the Hollywood Area!!
Going to go all the time!!
Really cute place. Good food & great service
Will be back
The manager was excellent. Had the smoked guda fondue and was not disappointed. It was kinda pricy for portion size but quality was good. Definitely coming back.
Brought some friends to Severance Sunday night and it did not dissapoint. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and the owner/manager helped pick out fabulous wine. We had flatbreads, fondue and dessert and all were fabulus. Can't wait to go back!
Enjoyed our dinner, good wine list, good food, and excellent service. Flat breads were really good
The food was very good; service outstanding. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable since we had a toddler and an infant. The prices for the food were quite reasonable but beware, the wine list is very pricey.
