The manager and server said the only reservation for 2 visible was for Wendy. Both my guest and I checked in and gave the opentable reservation name. We were seated separately for over 30 minutes until we figured out via text that we were both there. Understaffed? Carelessness? Racial discrimination- only 2 African Americans there. Courtesy dessert helped yet....sigh
Hi Frances, We are very sorry for any confusion created upon your seating, but we did seat you at the neighboring table within five feet of your party when it became apparent to your server that you didn't recognize the other person at the adjacent table. We were very busy, and yes like any restaurant in this climate: understaffed, but by no means was this confusion intentional and hope you enjoyed your meal.
We were dump by Spago. Made reservation at Severence at Palihotel Melrose. What an excellent alternative.
Honestly a hidden gem of a restaurant in the Melrose/Fairfax area. Food selection was wide enough to have to take a look and determine what we really wanted, and all the food was delicious.
Servers could not have been more helpful and attentive. We'll definitely be back!
We have eaten here many times and the food is always outstanding. The service is great and the wine choices inspiring. Get the caviar, the Wagu burger, the cheese fondue…get one of everything and share ❤️
Excellent food and one of the best wine selections in town. The sommelier here is truly fantastic. Not a bad bottle to be found, and if you’re undecided or looking for something new to try, just ask. You won’t be steered wrong.
Nice place for a drinks
They were incredible. Everyone was so nice. All masked. Drinks were delicious. Charcuterie board was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dance 10 Looks 2. The service was attentive. The food and cocktails were good and nicely presented,
The ambience needs improvement. At these prices, the terrace needs plants to screen out the funky street scene, string or other prettier lighting, paper rather than plastic coffee shop-type menus and a table cloth and a small candle or flower on the table. Outdoor music also could be turned off or reimagined.
Food with exquisite flavors and great service! Menu is unique and the chocolate vegan cake with their in house made matcha ice cream is to die for!
Service was spotty, we were sitting at the end table of the patio and I think that our waiter forgot about us. The food was really good and the wine was pretty good. That said, it just did not feel like a $350 meal (for 3 people).
I love this restaurant and the proprietor. The food is always amazing
Online ordering was glitchy but other than that technical difficulty, this place is a true vibe. Had a limited but superb wine and beer selection (my style). The Moscow mule was also tasty. My fiancé and I had the charcuterie board and burger for our meal.
The staff and the setting were all good, the quality of food was poor in relation to the price as well.
Severance was a sleeper hit. Super low key patio and really delicious food. Fantastic service. Highly recommend.
beautiful outdoor terrace, tasty French bites, loved it!
Such friendly staff!! I really appreciated how great they were about our dogs.
Inside courtyard seating was quiet and lovely with hanging string lights. Food was tasty even though a bit pricier than it was probably worth. Scallop risotto, beet salad, bone marrow. Service was good. Only bummer was we had to end our dinner earlier than expected since the courtyard closed at 10:00pm.
Too much wine in the cheese foundue and it’s over priced(no protein!?
Loved our server! Fun atmosphere and easy reservation for a Friday night
Loved coming here when it was still Hart and Hunter. Menu has been updated, and while what we ordered was yummy, it different off the variety we found before. I ordered black coffee and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was quite watered down. Service was subpar and restaurant seemed a little flustered and unprepared as we arrived for our reservation. Additionally, table was dirty when we sat down.
Very accommodating service!
Nice ambiance and good food.
Love Severance!! Felt super safe in their outdoor courtyard and really enjoyed our cocktails, wine, and dinner.
Considering this outing took place while still under a pandemic, I'm not so sure this is a fair assessment of the food, service, and definitely not the ambiance. Once things have improved and life has returned further into normalcy I'l revisit and update. For now, it was nice to get out, the place was quiet, our server was lovely, and the food was good. Hoping for a more exciting version during my next visit.
The food was great and the ambience was perfect. Private and serene and great location right on
Ambience was really nice, and our server was good. Unfortunately the food was incredibly disappointing. There wasn't much to speak of for the salad, but for $14 it would have been nice to have a larger portion or better flavors. The fondue was the worst we've had. The potatoes that came with it were cold. The cocktails were also not great. Furthermore the entire meal was expensive. We left pretty dissatisfied and got more food elsewhere.
- Even though we requested indoor, we were first seated in empty courtyard outside. Relocated inside without issue
- 3 appetizers were served before drinks were.
- finally one cocktail was served but glass of wine took another 5 minutes.
- poutine was Luke warm at best. Cheese was still cold. Short ribs were dry and little flavor.
42$ for a tiny fondue, it’s not even close to enough for 2 people. Misrepresentation of dish, fondue inaccurately prepared and served, should be renamed to “hot cheese dip”. The dish was literally two Gruyer and Emmetaler cheeses from Ralph’s with A HEAPING AMOUNT of salt. First of all, it was so salty that I was unable to finish and had a very hard time eating it after 2 dips. Second of all, it was not fondue at all:
- was served lukewarm, it was already chunky when it arrived
- a key element of fondue is white wine, which was clearly absent in their dish
- should have been a flame under the fondue pot to prevent the cheese from becoming solid (that’s literally the whole point of the dish) instead of a tiny white generic tealight candle that by no law of physics can pass heat through the CAST IRON pot.
- the consistency was completely off, it was chunky, not at all stringy or creamy and thick. It was like a semi microwave melted mozzarella
- real fondue becomes stiff at the bottom of the pot, like a good grilled cheese. That crust, as per Swiss traditions, is also savored. While this joke-of-a-dish became cold, less than half way though.
For some reason they thought it would be a good idea to chop COLD potatoes into 1/12 of an inch pieces. Those nanopartcile potatoes then got lost in the cheese. Oh well.
Horrible experience, would NOT recommend. Also mentioned to the waiter (who made us stand like idiots in the middle of the restaurant for 15 minutes before being seated, even though we had a reservation and the place was only at 20% capacity) that the fondue was very salty, he said: WELL ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SALTY
