Seven Hills Ratings and Reviews
While 7 Hills is one of my favorite restaurants in the City I was rather disappointed. The pate appetizer was wonderful, as always. The pasta with the shaved truffle was so average compared to the usual ravioli type pasta and we were charged $45 for it. I had been bragging about it and brought my friend who paid for dinner. I felt a little embarrassed. The fish belly was very fishy and I did not care for it. I will go back because this is the first time it was not outstanding. But it is rather expensive to leave dissatisfied.
We enjoyed our 40th anniversary dinner last night at Seven Hills. It was fantastic! Th food was creative and delicious with ample portions. Everything is top of the line in quality and taste. The service was friendly and excellent. We cannot wait to go back again.
Place was super cable car going by right out side !! Place was crowded and the tables were a little to close to each other but ok.
Service was great loved the owner? host he waited on us recommended a very nice wine great pork chop and pasta !!
Parking terrible take uber but a must go to for out of towners !!!
My first time at Seven Hills and the food and service were exceptional. We shared two of the pasta dishes and they were perfection. I would definitely recommend the flat iron steak for a main course. Great ambiance and the staff were very professional. Can’t wait to go back!
Waiter was amazingly educated on every aspect of each dish from its source to its prep to its tastes and flavors. Being a gourmand I found that refreshing and one of the best aspects of the experience. Now to the food. The pork belly while billed as slow cooked and tender like butter was dry, tough and tasteless- the purée didn’t work with it even if the pork was cooked properly. The Sepia pasta and fresh Hawaiian prawns was pretty good. Pasta cooked perfectly al Dente with sweet sautéed prawns This dish almost made up for the terrible pork belly. Wine list is a perfect fit not too expensive with little seen Italian wines for any budget. Over all very good experience with the caveat noted about appetizer
An acquaintance of ours recommended this restaurant to my husband and me while we were vacationing in San Francisco. It succeeded our expectations. The food, service and ambiance were superb. The menu was varied enough to suit most people’s tastes. The food was fresh and presented beautifully. A lovely experience.
Probably one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. We were staying down the street and with the great reviews thought we'd give this a try. Both my hubby and I had the specials, shared a pork tartare style app that was amazing, followed by a rabbit dish wrapped in prosciutto and served with wilted greens and garlic - beyond delicious! My husband had a special pasta with squid ink and loved it too. The wine list is very nice. I started with a glass of the Vermentino di Gallura - just lucious!! I'd never had it before and the complex flavors were a real treat from the pedestrian whites at most italian restaurants.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place. Service was spot on, atmosphere was welcoming. I just wish I lived closer and could visit more often!
I was so terribly excited for this dining experience. Unfortunately, The establishment was over-hyped. At first very appealing, but in the end a massive disappointment. Tired menu, missing the stellar offerings described on Check Please 10/12/17. Specials? Not available or “meh.” Waitstaff? Non-communicative to surly; surprisingly, too many for too small a floor plan. The beet salad really was delicious, bravo! Ultimately, the entrées were unexpectedly not good enough for this fussily touted SF restaurant.
Pastas were creative and tasty. Restaurant set up could be considered cozy.
That’s where my positives end
Service was lacking. Very slow to get appetizers. Server didn’t seem to care about us at all. In fact she messed up our order so that 3 of us had to wait until the proper 4th meal arrived before we could politley eat our entrees
Noise level was high primarily due too one table that must have just learned the F word
We have loved Seven Hills since it opened but my wife and I came for her birthday this weekend and it simply didn’t pop. Though the wine was excellent (as always), the food was, well, bland. Nothing terrible, just... meh...
Maybe a new, substitute chef was on duty. We’ll try again sometime, but if it’s a repeat boring performance I’m sure we’ll move on. Too many great things happening in SF to celebrate at a restaurant that’s grown too comfortable to try hard.
Outstanding pasta dishes in a charming SF setting. Truffled pasta dish and squid ink pasta w/spot prawns were the superstars of the night, followed closely by the panna cotta. The waiter was friendly but seemed a bit stretched thin and we waited quite a long time for drinks and our order to be taken. Quite expensive @ $100 pp before tip.
Dunes here with another couple and all 4 of us thought this was easily the best meal we had during our long weekend in San Fran. Our server, William, was excellent and gladly described each entree in detail. Great friends, great food and great wine. A wonderful experience!
Seven Hills was much more than we expected. It’s a very small intimate restaurant maybe sits 40. Excellent game food in a non-rushes atmosphere. The servings are quite generous so sharing is a good thing to think about. We had several dishes and appetizers all were excellent. This is a keeper but reservations need to be made far in advance
This dinner was amazing. It was our last night in San Francisco and this quaint little Italian Eatery was perfect.
Many "Fancy" Italian restaurants add too many frills to the dishes that take away from the beauty of the simplicity of Italian Cooking. Perfectly executed pasta and service that exemplified Italian cooking.
We ordered the Carpaccio, Baby Greens Salad, and Both Pasta Specials... Absolutely delicious.
Mathew our server was attentive without being annoying and described every dish perfectly. I only wish Fernet was available post pasta. However, apparently there is a law on Hyde Street that doesn't allow hard liquor. Wine and beer acceptable though.
seven hills was a great restaurant. the wait staff was exceptional and the food was very good. the portions are pretty small which is a little disappointing since the prices are fairly steep. the flavors of the food are very good though and definitely worth trying at least once. it is a small restaurant so it did get uncomfortably hot at one point.
