We had an amazing time! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was brilliant. We took several of our server's recommendations, and the whole meal was perfect. Wonderful spot, and I wish we lived closer!
Well it’s like this, we love this restaurant and go there every time we’re in town, we make a point of it. We invite a couple friends and had 4 appetizers (all good, interesting an unique, esp. the bone marrow one) and moved on to the entree. My wife ordered the spaghetti with asparagus (so it said). However, little or no asparagus but tons of peas. My wife hates peas. There was, in fact, nothing stated in its description with the work “peas” in it. If there had been she would not have ordered it. So color her very disappointed. She ate around the peas, lots of peas, and made it through the dish but, again, very disappointed. One should note, however, that this was/is not a deal killer for us with Seven Hills. We still love it, will go back but geez - if there are peas in it say so. I even took a photo - lots of peas. Personally I don’t mind peas but my wife, not so much.
Always an outstanding meal. Creative food, knowledgeable service. It doesn’t get any better than Seven Hills
I had the NY cut and it was delicious. This is a nice little place to take your dates.
Honestly, probably one of the best meals I've had in San Francisco. I've lived in the city for almost 6 years now and I love restaurants like Al's Place, A16 and Nopa. Seven Hills took my dining experiences to another lever; the service was outstanding, the food was drool-worthy and the ambiances was awesome. I hardly leave reviews because I'm just lazy, but I'm happy to spread the word because Seven Hills is just that good. I will be back!
Very good restaurant but not sure if it lived up to all the hype. Many restaurants just as good (or better in SF) and the portions were very small. I like small portions, but this bordered on absurd. Residential location which works, so overall quite good but not great.
We hadn't been to 7 Hills is several years and were looking forward to seeing how it had evolved. We were quite pleased to see that he has remained at the top of its game. The food is created and well executed. Service is extremely professional, but still welcoming. The wine list is extensive with many reasonably priced bottles. In summary 7 Hills remains not only a top notch neighborhood restaurant, but a destination restaurant.
I was on the hunt for the best Italian in SF and after doing some research, I found Seven Hills popped up on multiple lists (and it did not disappoint!) My mom was visiting and we decided to come here for a belated birthday dinner. The service was amazing, our waiter was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the SF food scene. This place is perfect if you're looking for authentic Italian. It's a fairly small but quaint restaurant - perfect for an intimate dinner with a friend or date night. We ordered the little gem salad, spaghetti, squid ink pasta and black cod - spaghetti and squid ink were my fav. The only thing I'd say it is in the spendier side and the pasta size was on the smaller side but again, definitely worth it for a special occasion (or if you're not starving, which I was).
Fabulous birthday celebration! The meatballs are a must to start with, also enjoyed the asparagus salad. We shared the pork sirloin, which was large enough to share. Their bread was heaven as well. We will be back.
Had seen a review from Check Please, excited about trying a new spot. Service was great, every dish a huge hit. Delicious pasta, great wines, wonderful desert. We’ll all be back, now have a new favorite spot.
I was looking for a stellar neighborhood italian restaurant and this place totally fit the bill. well crafted pastas, terrific appetizers, and a wine list with multiple by-the-glass options. I went on a night during truffle season, and the incorporation of truffles into their agnoletti dish was delicious. would definitely recommend .
Amazing food. Nice, intimate little restaurant we go to every time we are in the Bay Area. Love it!
The food was excellent. Very different dishes. Loved everything. The service was very good and the wine pairing recommendation was perfect.
Homemade pasta was outstanding. We shared the truffle pasta, squid ink and honey one. Would like to go back.
Exceptional- the food was
Delicious and the wine was great! Get the mezzaluna!!!
The food and service were both outstanding. Michael was very knowledgeable and provided extremely good service. We only wish we had more time in San Francisco for a return visit. We will be back!
Great hidden treasure. Freshly made pasta. The difference is amazing! Really appreciate their focused menu. A handful of options in each section that allows anyone to find something they will love. The service was good, but the two waiters were spread across the tables a little thin. Service could have been just a bit more attentive. The noise reduction panels they installed made a huge difference. Previously, you had to literally scream to have a conversation. Was wonderful to have a amazing meal and also be able to have a great dinner conversation. Kudos! Will definitely be back as a regular and recommend to others.
Without a doubt some of the best food I’ve ever experienced
Very charming small restaurant--a definite European feel. Wonderful food and attentive service. We enjoyed the small table by the window. A nice treat!!
Seven Hills is a true neighborhood gem. It was cozy, the service was great, there's a nice variety of dishes, and it was quiet enough to have a conversation. We loved our water, Louis!
Seven hills never disappoints. The service is impeccable and the food is always outstanding.
We have eaten here before and were very pleased with the experience, so we decided to repeat our visit. As before, our experience did not disappoint. We were greeted promptly as we arrived. The ambience at this restaurant is very nice and cozy, a neighborhood-style place, but well-appointed and charming. We had a lovely table by the window. Our waiter was switched mid-meal, but we were sufficiently notified, and we actually liked our second waiter better, as he was very friendly and seemed happier than the first waiter. We had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, which was delicious and very tender. I had the black cod special, which was wonderful, and I would highly recommend it if it is being served. My husband had the cannelloni and was very happy with it also. The food is original, well-prepared and top-notch; the courses were timed perfectly, neither slow nor rushed. All in all, an excellent dining experience.
Simply amazing!!! Now I can see why it was hard to get a reservation. One of the best Italian meals I've had in a long time. This neighborhood gem was the perfect way to end a b-day celebratory vacation with my BFFs. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy food that makes you say "wow" out loud, great service and wonderful wine list!
Very good! A little pricey but definitely worth it for a special occasion :)
Our experience at Seven Hills was absolutely wonderful. The host/sommelier made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. When we had to wait a few minutes for our table, he went above and beyond to make sure our night was special. The care that he took showed that Seven Hills is determined to ensure guests have an amazing experience there. It felt very well run.
The food was superb. The ambiance was quiet and romantic. Seven Hills is the perfect place to go if you want to celebrate or have a romantic evening. We will definitely be going back.
Valentine’s Day dinner :) it was amazing and Alex the manager, is so kind and easy to talk to. He took care of us
I absolutely love this place! This is my go-to place to take friends who are visiting San Francisco and looking for a great dining experience. Food is amazing, service is impeccable and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. It's everything you would expect out of a fine dining experience, minus the pretentiousness. The owner, Alex, is super involved and attentive and makes sure all his customers are happy, and full. Highly recommend!
The wife and I came here for an early Valentine's Day. Everything was delicious. We relied on our server for recommendations and he did not disappoint. The standouts were the brussel sprouts and the maccheroncelli. We also had a couple of specials which aren't on the menu. I'd definitely go back.
Charming restaurant, great service, and wonderful wine choices. Small portions of rich food - you will be full!
Service was very attentive and food was delicious! Lovely small neighborhood Italian place.
Amazing Service and wonderful food. The wine was lovely, too! The meatball appetizer was really good and the deserts were super good. The date cake (I think a special) is something my wife is still talking about.
Great small neighborhood restaurant that is Farm to Plate concept. The service was excellent, as we asked for suggestions and received great feedback. The small nature of the seating means everyone is close together, although we didn't feel cramped. The meatball appetizer is a must, however outside of that item, the menu varies based on what is fresh, so be prepared for something different every time.
Always a great evening. Alex and team do a tremendous job. We were there Friday night....always hopping. So sorry Alex had the night off but he deserves it!!!
Absolutely OUTSTANDING in every way..... just BRILLIANT!!!
The service, the food, the entire experience was excellent. Their house made pasta was perfectly executed, al dente, couldn’t have been better.
Not as good as it used to be! The got rid of their signature dish-the raviolo uno, and the quality of pastas and sides have gone down. Service was also so/so.
Food was great. Service was great. Charging for slices of bread a tad overboard.
great food great service. couldn't have had better
Interesting menu, incredible food, expert service- all without the snobbery! A perfect dining experience.
Food was very good, worth the 90 min drive. The salad, meatballs, pastas and panna cotta. The service was very good, I would recommend Seven Hills, It's not cheap but worth the price. Will definitely come back
