So glad we found this gem of a restaurant for our wedding anniversary. I took the recommendation from another review and requested the window seat. On arriving at Seven Hills we were greeted and sure enough they accommodated our request and gave us the window seat -the waiter also noted that it was our anniversary. The food is exceptional and we decided we would share dishes as we just wanted to try everything. The house cured Salumi bresaola was excellent. We had the veal tartare- local sourced organic humanely raised- excellent. We then had the wild mushroom spaghetti- so much flavor with perfectly cooked Al dented fresh made spaghetti. The Veal Milanese was over the top- best I’ve ever had. We both feel this is one of the best dining experiences we have had in San Francisco- it was intimate with excellent food, great wine list and knowledge wait staff. The owner came round to chat and also wished us a happy anniversary and poured us some lovely Moscato. To top it off you can catch one of the iconic SF cable cars right outside back down to Union Square. There is also a very nice wine bar across the street from Seven Hills that has a nice International selection and ambience if you want to have a pre dinner glass of wine/ bubbles.
We both can’t wait to go back to Seven Hills, it’s what a romantic dinner date should be.

We got lucky and made a later reservation. The quality of the locally sourced food at each serving was interesting, not overstated and properly portioned. They had a special series of starters that came from a NorCal ranch that was excellent. Veal. Service for us was perfect. We closed the place.

Been wanting to try Seven Hills for awhile, but it's on the other side of the city for me, so just never made it. Parking was one of the issues, but we found a space 5 doors down without a problem. Good parking karma. Came here for a friend's birthday. She's very picky about her Italian food, and really enjoyed the place. We shared the meatballs & asparagus salad, both very tasty. I had one of the pasta specials, squid ink pasta with seafood, excellent. she had the pasta with lamb ragu, again excellent. We were too full for dessert, but because it was her birthday they brought an ice-cream with a candle for her, very nice. The wine list is very reasonably priced. Ambience is nice, quiet. Server was good.

First night in SF to celebrate the end of a rough 2017. Food and service were spectacular. Fabulous ambience and we will most definitely return in the future. Definitely a must do restaurant!

We had a wonderful window table with a quintessential San Francisco view where we could watch the "little cable cars reaching for the stars". The wine selection was good, the meatballs were excellent and we loved the tortelloni. The only downsides were that the pasta portions are small and the special truffle pasta was high priced and had barely a hint of truffle. Our waiter was excellent. We had a long wait for our dinner but we were pleased to be offered a complimentary dessert to compensate for the wait.

I can't think of any other word to use other than phenomenal. I am so glad I did my research and found Seven Hills. Our entire experience was absolutely outstanding and will go down, so far, as the best and most authentic Italian dinners we've ever had in San Francisco and one of the best meals we've ever had - period. First of all, our server {Mikey} was amazing. He had an incredible personality, knew the menu {which changes daily by the way} inside and out, knew just what to suggest and in what order to present it - outstanding service. We started with the mozzarella appetizer - Mikey explained the amazing story behind the mozzarella and the farm in which the restaurant gets it from - loved that. The special, which was a house made ravioli with truffles, whipped ricotta and a butter sauce was very rich but we shared it and it was to DIE for. The Chile pasta {can't remember what it was called} with the house made ricotta had a kick to it but wasn't so spicy it took away from the dish - EXCELLENT. We were wished Happy Anniversary repeatedly by the entire staff coming in, during and before leaving. A gift of moscato to toast our anniversary ended our meal. I didn't want to leave - it was that good. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Very small space so make your reservations in advance and if you want a more intimate seating request a window seat.

Well it’s like this, we love this restaurant and go there every time we’re in town, we make a point of it. We invite a couple friends and had 4 appetizers (all good, interesting an unique, esp. the bone marrow one) and moved on to the entree. My wife ordered the spaghetti with asparagus (so it said). However, little or no asparagus but tons of peas. My wife hates peas. There was, in fact, nothing stated in its description with the work “peas” in it. If there had been she would not have ordered it. So color her very disappointed. She ate around the peas, lots of peas, and made it through the dish but, again, very disappointed. One should note, however, that this was/is not a deal killer for us with Seven Hills. We still love it, will go back but geez - if there are peas in it say so. I even took a photo - lots of peas. Personally I don’t mind peas but my wife, not so much.

Honestly, probably one of the best meals I've had in San Francisco. I've lived in the city for almost 6 years now and I love restaurants like Al's Place, A16 and Nopa. Seven Hills took my dining experiences to another lever; the service was outstanding, the food was drool-worthy and the ambiances was awesome. I hardly leave reviews because I'm just lazy, but I'm happy to spread the word because Seven Hills is just that good. I will be back!

Very good restaurant but not sure if it lived up to all the hype. Many restaurants just as good (or better in SF) and the portions were very small. I like small portions, but this bordered on absurd. Residential location which works, so overall quite good but not great.

We hadn't been to 7 Hills is several years and were looking forward to seeing how it had evolved. We were quite pleased to see that he has remained at the top of its game. The food is created and well executed. Service is extremely professional, but still welcoming. The wine list is extensive with many reasonably priced bottles. In summary 7 Hills remains not only a top notch neighborhood restaurant, but a destination restaurant.

I was on the hunt for the best Italian in SF and after doing some research, I found Seven Hills popped up on multiple lists (and it did not disappoint!) My mom was visiting and we decided to come here for a belated birthday dinner. The service was amazing, our waiter was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the SF food scene. This place is perfect if you're looking for authentic Italian. It's a fairly small but quaint restaurant - perfect for an intimate dinner with a friend or date night. We ordered the little gem salad, spaghetti, squid ink pasta and black cod - spaghetti and squid ink were my fav. The only thing I'd say it is in the spendier side and the pasta size was on the smaller side but again, definitely worth it for a special occasion (or if you're not starving, which I was).

I was looking for a stellar neighborhood italian restaurant and this place totally fit the bill. well crafted pastas, terrific appetizers, and a wine list with multiple by-the-glass options. I went on a night during truffle season, and the incorporation of truffles into their agnoletti dish was delicious. would definitely recommend .

Great hidden treasure. Freshly made pasta. The difference is amazing! Really appreciate their focused menu. A handful of options in each section that allows anyone to find something they will love. The service was good, but the two waiters were spread across the tables a little thin. Service could have been just a bit more attentive. The noise reduction panels they installed made a huge difference. Previously, you had to literally scream to have a conversation. Was wonderful to have a amazing meal and also be able to have a great dinner conversation. Kudos! Will definitely be back as a regular and recommend to others.

We have eaten here before and were very pleased with the experience, so we decided to repeat our visit. As before, our experience did not disappoint. We were greeted promptly as we arrived. The ambience at this restaurant is very nice and cozy, a neighborhood-style place, but well-appointed and charming. We had a lovely table by the window. Our waiter was switched mid-meal, but we were sufficiently notified, and we actually liked our second waiter better, as he was very friendly and seemed happier than the first waiter. We had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, which was delicious and very tender. I had the black cod special, which was wonderful, and I would highly recommend it if it is being served. My husband had the cannelloni and was very happy with it also. The food is original, well-prepared and top-notch; the courses were timed perfectly, neither slow nor rushed. All in all, an excellent dining experience.
