The View Restaurant
We’re ‘casual dining’ rather than ‘fine dining’ but that doesn’t mean our quality & service should be any less. We believe we’ve found the right balance with a passionate kitchen team & a charming front of house team along with a service ethos centered squarely on ensuring your experience with us is a great one.
Beautiful setting (love the big chandeliers) but casual. My friend and I just had burgers, which were great! Service was quick and friendly and the booths allowed for quiet conversation. Great place by Penn to meet up that's a step above A pub
Easy, breezy place with great service and good, dependable food!
The best oysters for lunch for a buck a piece.
I normally score this restaurant much higher but o the rigatoni was cold and tasteless. Ordinarily this is a surprising gem in a neighborhood without many great choices.
Awesome!! Great server! The food was delicious; very accommodating with substitutions. Great wine and cocktails.
The service was fast, the drinks wet and the steak sandwich was delicious
Food was great as well as the service!!
Caught up with old friends and ate great food. Terrific night!
Pre concert Neal. It was great
We chose this restaurant for its good reviews as well as it is conveniently located very close to Madison Square Garden. The food and service was very good and location was great!
Food was ok, service needs improvement
good place for a business lunch. Not too expensive. Casual menu. Good selection of wines and beers.
My husband and I returned a second time to Seven Bistro because it was convenient to our hotel and we had such a good experience the first time. Except for the noise level at the beginning of our meal, we were not disappointed. I had the rigatoni with sausage and roasted red peppers in a basil cream sauce while my husband had the grilled roasted chicken accompanied by vegetables and potatoes. Both dishes were delicious and it was nice to share a sample of each. Happily, the noise level went down as an earlier crowd drifted out and we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and a quiet conversation. We will make it a point to come back the next time we are in New York.
I made a reservation for 6 for a late afternoon lunch after my commencement ceremony. I requested to be seated on the main level due to the fact that I would be with my elderly parents who have trouble with stairs. There were able to accomodate accordingly which was greatly appreciated. One member of my party arrived about an hour in advance of the reservation and they were still able to sit her at the table to wait for the rest of us.
The restaurant's main level is relatively small and the 3 larger party tables are right by the open kitchen, but this was not a huge problem at all - not overly smokey or unbearably warm like you would expect. The waiter was extremely patient, accomodating, and friendly. The food was tasty - we ranged from the french onion soup to the Seven burger to the cod and potatoes - it was all good.
I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for something in the MSG area!
Good food quick service convenient location on Seventh avenue near Penn Station
Nothing really special about this place. Weird happy hour hours from 2-5pm then after 9pm. Plates are very expensive and, as usual in NYC, very small portions. The chicken was unflavorful and bland. Service was inconsistent. It is very hard to find a decent meal near Penn station.
Very good food at reasonable prices.
Open Tabled booked me a table but when we got there at the appointed time, the restaurant was closed!
The restaurant was closed but I received no notification.
Good restaurants in the neighborhood of Penn Station (NYC) are very rare. This is always my choice when I am coming to the city by train just to meet friends for lunch or dinner. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the waiters and waitresses don't rush you if you want to linger. I particularly recommend the burrata (spelling?)--the best I have ever eaten.
I can always count on Seven for a private business lunch and for pre or post theater of Madison Square Garden activities.
Seven has been a favorite for a long time. Good food, comfortable environment and pleasant service. It is a rarity in the Penn Station/MSG area.
We dined at Seven Bistro, in part, due to its proximity to Penn Station, where options are limited. We had a 7 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was on a night when the Rangers were playing at MSG (they happen to be playing the Islanders). Until shortly before game time, the restaurant was crammed (I think they stuck in an extra table or two) and way too noisy to have a conversation. By 7:45, it was appreciably better. Be forewarned.
I really enjoy dining there. Food is delicious and service is amazing.
Great place with wonderfully prepared artisan plates. Loves ordering the smaller plates and sharing with my wife. Great place when your on seventh south of MSG
We enjoyed cocktails and food before seeing Eric Clapton at the Garden. The bartender and our server were both excellent and the oyster special was a great deal.
we have been there many times in the past, everything has gone downhill. The food was not what it was in the past. Sorry to see the restaurant not as good overall with everything
Portions could be a bit larger, but overall it was a pleasant experience.
I got the veggie burger, but it was made of all rice. nothing great.
I found the place to be clean and inviting. The appetizers and main course was delicious. I would not recommend the chocolate cake. We ordered the cake to celebrate a birthday we found the cake to be dry and tasteless. It was not made that day. But the whipped cream was delicious. Nice drink menu and friendly staff. I would go back for dinner and some where else for desert
We made a reservation and went to the restaurant only to find out that they decided to close without notifying us of their decision. I traveled to New York City to dine at this restaurant for a special occasion, and it took this one bad customer service experience to never make me want to go to this restaurant ever in the future.
Been there for drinks many times.....Great decor but service was poor (it was not crowded at all) and food was average. Had a cappuccino at the end of the meal....It was ice cold.
Had to return drink, poorly made
Ordered from special menu and given entirely different meal..no time to wait for replacement before show
Burgers were dry
French fries were good
We were late because of snow. Seated in a friendly manner
Place was very convenient to the gardens but service was slow, the food was inconsistent and below average and worst part was that we sat upstairs and with the kitchen below with fumes and smoke rising, we left with our clothes/coats smelling like an greasy grill.
Table was ready at promised time. Food was great . Reasonable prices and friendly staff!
Great spot to go to before a Garden event. Food is really decent. Plenty of options. Good cocktails and decor is nice. Location, location , location
Seven is a great place for pre-Garden event dinner. The food is better than a pub and the ambiance is lively without being deafening. The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Great location near MSG. Nikki was our server, she was awesome! We will be back for sure.
Good ambiance, privacy and food, but too noisy for an intimate or business conversation.
