Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores G-star and Emporium 2050.

The bread was stale and butter cold. Food was not very good. People were nice, but simply not worth it.
We really enjoyed our visit at Sette Osteria during a recent trip. The restaurant was more than considerate to rearrange our seating allowing us to enjoy the outdoor patio. When we travel to Washington DC the next time, we'll be sure to call them for another pleasant experience.
The appetizers were much better than the main dishes. I received a cold piece of chicken that was not enjoyable and I left half of it in the plate. Pasta's were enjoyable.
Al fresco dining in the vibrant DuPont Circle neighborhood was a very rewarding experience. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the finest sidewalk cafes in Paris. Relaxing and satisfying!
Waiter was very nice and helpful. Chicken on my son's gnocchi dish was a little dry but they removed it from the bill with no questions. The gnocchi and sauce were perfect. I had the scallop risotto with truffle oil and it was fabulous. Husband was very happy with the veal picatta. Tiramisu was wonderful.
Nice Brunch place with decent coffee, nice bottomless mimosas, and we love that they offer gluten-free pasta, but PLEASE make your HOLLANDAISE sauce WITHOUT WHEAT FLOUR!! If you make it with only a little cornstarch to thicken it, you can offer it to us g-f people too! (my wife has celiac, and I'm gluten sensitive). We LOVE eggs benedict, but were unable to enjoy them here at Sette Osteria, because of the flour in the H sauce. Scion and other places manage to serve g-f H sauce that EVERYONE (except vegans, obviously) can enjoy. Also, please improve the coffee, as we expect more from such a nice brunch place! Thanks!
We ordered ravioli, chicken tagine and a fish entree. Food was okay but there are better quality options for this price. Service was excellent
Fantastic, we went back the next night. Would really recommend.
Should've know better when the hostess tried to seat us at at a table in the blaring sun instead of any of the many empty shaded tables on the patio...food unimpressive, service barely acceptable, will not return.
The service was friendly and efficient; the food was tasty and plentiful; the afternoon was warm and bright, so we had an outside table, which was generally very pleasant. The only problem was that the folks at an adjacent table made a bit too much joyful noise, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault, and didn't last too long. One member of our party has difficulty in walking, so we were glad to have the valet parking access within a short distance of the restaurant door. The four of us in the party would enjoy returning to Sette Osteria.
I had probably been to this restaurant in about a decade until this visit. It used to be a very trendy, cool bistro-type restaurant. I noticed it had become comparatively seedy since my last visits. It definitely needs an update. My food was good but the ambiance was not befitting an authentic modern Italian restaurant, and not one in a very posh area of DC.
Food was great, as always. Great sidewalk table.
Only problem, and it was major, the appetisers came out quick and the meals were out while we were halfway thru appetisers. We made them go back but we knew they were only warmed and brought out ten min later. And salads and a side came out after apps but before dinner which was against what we had requested. Almost ruined meal, and with no real apology or explanation. Believe me, I am not a complainer but this was ridiculous. Somehow we salvaged a nice dinner
Good, regular Italian comfort food. The service was excellent though. Very attentive and efficient wait staff.
Food was excellent. Service was bizarre - untrained. The waiter and/or kitchen staff seemed unaware how to pace a meal. We ordered bread and a small pizza to start, salad as a first course and our main courses. Within 5 minutes our main courses were served, before the salads which were brought out a minute later. There literally was no place for all the plates. Generally at restaurants, starters come first, followed by the first course (salad) and then mains. Since all the food came at once, and we had our main courses already we asked to cancel the pizza and were told it was too late to cancel. We also said that we would like to enjoy our salads first before our mains. The waiter responded that she could put our food under the lamps in the kitchen while we ate our salads. Not exactly the response we wanted. In the end, the food was terrific but not sure we’ll go back because of the poorly trained staff.
Friendly staff, delicious home-made pastas, pizza, stromboli, salads... great place to take your family. Highly recommended!
Went for brunch and unlimited mimosas to only find out they had run out of Champagne! Why advertise something you can’t offer.
Excellent restaurant in all respects, food quality, service, and location!
Good food, served promptly. Homemade desserts. Seated at a bad table inside, though.
We had a very nice experience. All servers were attentive and friendly, from the hostess to the waiter and other attendants although the waiter seemed a bit inexperienced--didn't point out the specials menu or tell us what the fish du jour was, and wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu items when we asked questions. The ambience was pleasant but nothing to write home about and we sat on the patio which was nice but basically tables and chairs and umbrellas on the sidewalk. The food however was out of this world. I had the lentil soup and pan sauteed rockfish and my companion had the beet salad and a pasta dish, and we both loved our food which made up for any other shortcomings. This is not a 5-star restaurant by any stretch but it does offer a solid, pleasurable dining experience.
Perfect evening to sit el fresco and enjoy delicious Italian appetizers, etc. Valuable extra is validated parking for two hours in the building's parking garage.
No reservations for outside seating, but the wait was not onerous.
Burrata atop avocado and tomatoes ramekin, plentiful prosciutto and mozzarella, Tuscan fries, grilled vegetables, eggplant parmesan, and grilled Brussels sprouts did the trick for a summertime meal for four.
One of the best dinners out we’ve had this year. Everything was amazing.
Very good food but server was not as attentive I would have liked. I would still go back.
Sette Osteria is the best! - especially the location on Connecticut and R!
He staff is fantastic. We were there during a VERY busy Saturday. The were people everywhere and all the restaurants were very busy. The Staff took great care of us and we really enjoyed the food. The Shrimp Carbonara was excellent and the Linguine Seafood special was also delicious.
Our waitress was awesome! She was so kind and helpful and made sure we had a great experience.
Lasagna while well seasoned did not contain an adequate/ usual/ expected amount of meat filling
Service was both over-attentive and almost robotic. Just not human or warm.
Our family likes the food, service and atmosphere; we sat outside, which was very pleasant. The service could have been more attentive, but the waiter’s attitude was so nice in a genuine way, that it was impossible to hold it against him. Overall a great experience. We will be back
We were visiting the DC area and chose Sette Osteria based on other Open Table reviews and walking distance. We were not disappointed! Andrea was the best server...super attentive, saw to every need and so friendly. She made us feel welcome from the start. Our food was excellent. We ordered lobster soup, chicken parm and lobster ravioli. All was enjoyed. We also ordered a half carafe each of the red and white sangria. You could taste all the fresh fruity flavors it had been infused with. From beginning to end, this cute little place was a great neighborhood find. Outdoor dining is an option too!
The food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful.
Our only complaint was a disturbance of noisy out of control family with two toddlers. Parents took little care to keep boys out of our space. Next time we will ask to be moved.
A little unassuming but the food was terrific.
Good food, great service, pleasant atmosphere but definitely on the noisy side (bc we were inside). Might have been better outside but it was a warm day.
Food was good. No one greeted us upon arrival.
The food was delicious, but the service was terrible.
Horrible hostess.. had a reservation at 7:45 pm after waiting for 20 minutes.. we left.. since the hostess had no idea what was going on and couldn’t seat us.. what is the point of a reservation if after waiting standing up( no waiting sitting anywhere to be find)?? Big disappointment
Wonderful restaurant to break the ice with someone new. The waitress was so helpful and nice. Service was amazing. Good for was amazing. Definitely coming back soon.
Great place! Feels like the best gathering place for friends and family. Feels like a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. We’ve been twice and love it!
Had a great birthday dinner here! Pretty authentic Italian cooking in a true Osteria atmosphere. Will definitely really returning!
