About Sette Osteria
Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, and with a great "feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.
Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores G-star and Emporium 2050.

Sette Osteria Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went to Osteria Sette for lunch on Christmas day. They were not serving brunch but we didn't really care as we wanted the full lunch menu.
I'm Italian and I've been now in the States for a little bit more than 2 years, still having vivid memories about the italian cusin flavours.
It wasn't my first time at Osteria Sette but, for some reason, I've never tryied anything else but the pizza before (which is extremely good).
This time I wanted to try something a bit more elaborated which will definitely require good italian cuisine knowledge. As appetizers we ordered the Calamarata and the Polipo Mediterraneo which delicate taste was, thank god, not covered with tons of unuseful spices.
As Entrees we ordered the Ravioli della Nonna and the Melanzane alla Parmigiana.
Once again, thanks to the parsimonious usage of spices, we were able to taste the sweetness of the squash, the parfumed sage and the salty parmigiano cheese.
The parmigiana was also made in the traditional way, fried sliced eggplants alternated to layers of mozzarella and tomato sauce(made the traditional way, passed tomatoes, onion, olive oil and salt "NO GARLIC".
To go with the entrees I had a glass of Primitivo (it come from, exactly, the same part of Italy) which I sipped gladly while tasting the parmigiana.
Although I, lately, prefer to grill the sliced eggplant rather than fry it (for an ealthier outcome) I really liked out compact the parmigiana was.
For desert, even if we were already stuffed, we ordered some tiramisu'. I didn't exactly look like an homemade tiramisu' but the mascarpone cream was superbly done and the ensemble was tasteful but not too sweet.
The service was great and punctual (the restaurant wasn't really crowded) and the host, Mr. Zorgani was very cordial and friendly.
I will soon go back to Osteria Sette to try some more dishes hoping to keep on getting the good vibes and delicate tastes I had this time around.
Had a nice lunch w/a friend on Sat at 2 or 3. The restaurant only had one other table so it was quiet but I can see how it would be super busy at night. Enjoyed a glass of pinot grigio and was pleased with the selection of wine both red and white. Shared a grilled octopus salad and pizza with capers and sardines. The crust was nice and crispy. The complimentary bread was hot straight from the oven and delicious with olive oil. It was a chilly day so we asked to sit away from the door and were seated close to the pizza oven. That with a glass of wine and good conversation made it a tasty cozy lunch!
Good food, every bite and dish was a gem. Great wine " they serve Simi cab by the glass for only $9/glass and many other good labels" and superb service. Welcoming and caring management.
No wonder the place is busy !
Really a great value for a perfect evening.
We had a hideous experience at this restaurant. It was so loud and crowded that we could not hear those at our table and we were more than uncomfortable in the extremely tight space. Service was polite but completely overwhelmed. The manager asked all 7 of us to move over / relocate so another table could have more room. We had to use our appetizer plates for our entrees (we were eating family style) because clean plates weren't offered until about 10 minutes after we got our food and we practically had to beg for serving spoons. And the entrees came out before the starters were cleared away. The food was good but impossible to enjoy. I couldn't wait to leave.
I am very picky with my food. I am Italian born and raised and I don't eat any Italian-American food. I've ordered a prosciutto and arucola pizza and it was wonderful! They even shaved some good Parmesan cheese on it. The wine selection was also good. I couldn't have had a better experience. I will definetly go back!
Took my girlfriend for dinner on a Friday night and it was LOUD. Food was great, but I was expecting a more intimate setting. Was recommended by a friend, but what he neglected to mention was this this is a bustling place. Food was really good, service was decent enough, but the environment threw me off a tad.
Nice location, good food. However service needs much improvement. Service was slow but restaurant was not packed at the time we were there. Server did not pay attention to the needs of the table and could have been more pleasant and proactive in his service. We don't want to be rushed but slowness for no reason is not acceptable.
The food and service were both awesome. Our waiter was very attentive and kept us happy. We got chicken alfredo and a margarita pizza. The ingredients in the food were high quality, some of the tastiest grilled chicken I've ever had. It was a kind of noisy, but not loud enough that I couldn't keep my conversation going. I would definitely go back.
The restaurant was packed - very good impression at the front door with a professional Maitre d' who made sure we had a good table and kept an eye on every table throughout the evening.
Amazing food "special risotto with lamb shank" was very tasty - great wine selection with good prices and of course very good service.
Will be back soon.
I recently made a reservation for 3, specifically requested outdoor seating. On my arrival the host said it would be a 20 minute wait for an outdoor table and that I should've known it was on a first come first serve basis. First of all, how the heck was I supposed to know that without it being stated anywhere in the restaurant disclosures or confirmation, and second, they obvious knew of my request well in advance so why didn't they call or simply accommodate me on a slower Tuesday evening. Not cool.
Furthermore, once we were seated we did not receive service of any sort for 15 minutes. In fact, once orders were placed we didn't see out waitress until we were requesting our bill-seemed as though she thought we hadn't even had our meals.
We found Sette Osteria on Open Table when we were staying in Dupont Circle. We took a chance based on the great reviews and we were so happy we did. I had the pumpkin ravioli and couldn't stop saying how amazing it was. Simply delicious!! Everyone else was very happy with their entrees including chicken parm, spicy sausage with pasta and angel hair with garlic and chicken. The one complaint I would have is the bread. We were given toasted pita bread with oil. Not very appetizing at all. But we saved more room for dinner!!
Sette does not ever adhere to the Open Table message. I eat here often I always write on the Open TAble reservation: Patio seating. Each time one has to argue about this---I asked for a table on the outdoor patio. You ought to address this concern with them,
The noise level is great on the patio and not so great inside. The food is good bistro food. The sevice is good and the atmosphere is pleasant.
We had a wonderful evening sitting on the outside patio. It faces R street so the traffic noise was not too intrusive. Great service, good drinks and wine choices. Enough well prepared options on the menu to make everyone in our group happy. Very nice choice in Dupont for a pleasant dinner and drinks.
I hadn't been to Sette in several years and had enjoyed it last time. There were 3 of us dining, myself, my husband and 7 year old son. It was a busy Friday night, but we didn't have to wait too long. We sat inside. It was crowded and very loud. Difficult to hear over the noise. I think they were short staffed. We ordered right away, but waited quite awhile for our main courses. Water glasses were not refilled until we flagged the manager. My son's pasta from the children's menu was very spicy and he wouldn't eat it, so we asked the server if they could quickly make him a grilled cheese sandwich. She sneered at us, but took the order. 30 minutes later his sandwich arrived. We spoke to the manager and the spicy pasta was comped.
Good place after a long day of museums--including the Phillips Collection, which is right around the corner. Happy Hour at the bar was fabulous. Nice bartender and great selection of food at very good prices; beer choices somewhat limited. We could have eaten dinner at the bar and been satisfied. Moved to outdoor seating for the "real" dinner. It had been a rainy day and the outdoor seating was still very pleasant and quiet. Nice stemware and linens, varied menu, including a couple of vegan choices. Food OK, nothing memorable. Service very pleasant but hard to get a check. This is a moderately priced restaurant with locals enjoying a quiet dinner. Not dying to go back, but I wouldn't rule it out if I were in the area.
I found Sette Osteria on a random search for DC's Summer Restaurant Week. And I am so thankful that I did! It is conveniently placed (very close to Dupont Metro), amazing food, great service, and perfect for outdoor dining (which is my favorite - especially on a perfect evening, like we had). I would highly recommend! Because it was Restaurant Week, the place was very busy and we did have to wait for food between courses... but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Portions are a very good size! And the regular menu is large.
The inside dining area seemed much more energetic/lively and my party sat out on the patio. Was very peaceful and easy to have a conversation among all the hustle and bustle around us. Delicious charcuterie variety and the house made past was fantastic! Definitely going to visit again.
