Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores G-star and Cove

The valentines menu was awful. However, their food is usually on point.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Perfect place to take your friends to catch up, celebrations, anniversaries and date nights.
Staff was slow when we first sat down. They kept clearing our table without asking first.
Meet up with some friends we hadn't seen in a long time. The staff was friendly, helpful and patient with us. We did more talking than looking at the menu. They helped us decide what we wanted and made our visit very special. Easy to get to on the Red Line. Centainly will be going back soon. Brunch selections were awesome.
Went for Sunday brunch. Service was very good. Our drinks (bottomless) was refilled without asking. Ordered steak (medium) and eggs w/ bacon. Delicious and good serving portions. A little on the pricey side, but worth it.
Overall, our group had a pleasant experience at Sette Osteria. We went during Restaurant Week so it was bound to be crowded. My biggest grievance was that our waiter was not attentive to our table as a group. He would handle each person individually making the bottomless drinks difficult to keep "bottomless". For each refill, each individual person had to get his attention to get a refill. It was a little ridiculous and I think their staff can be trained better to avoid these unnecessary bottle necks in service.
We love Sette Osteria. Have been several times now. The food is always outstanding, they do a great Aperol Spritz and the wine list is full of variety. I like sitting outside in warmer months - this weekend we were inside on a Saturday night at peak time and it was super noisy. Our table was tucked in next to the back end and as well as being a bit squeezed in had a lot of foot traffic carrying dishes in and out. Aside from that loved it and will definitely be back
Service was friendly but not professional. Food was ok but not expertly prepared.
We got there right as they were opening and the restaurant was chilly. I also accidentally went to the wrong location...I think the hostess let the other location know that I had gotten misdirected. The food was good but the ambiance could have been warmer.
Average in every way and a bit over priced. I had a veal dish and the veal was dry, even though it was served with a sauce.
What can I say Sette Osteria never disappoints. Our food was fabulous and so was our service. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli and it was 10/10. SO YUMMY. My boyfriend ordered linguini and a meat sauce he was very pleased. The bread was great too. I can’t recommend Sette Osteria enough.
Quite disappointed by our time there. I made a reservation for a large party on Christmas--talked with them leading up to try to make sure I updated them whenever we had a change in our number, confirmed with them Christmas Eve. My party showed up on Christmas and were told by a very rude host that we didn't have a reservation. We saw our name on their list, pointed to it and said "that's our party" and they said "no, you don't have a reservation." Blatantly lying to our face even though we also had a confirmation number from OpenTable. I understand if you don't turn over tables in time--apologize and say there is going to be a wait. Don't lie to our faces that we didn't make a reservation.
They ended up seating us half an hour late at multiple tables where the hospitality did not get better. Those who ordered steaks were never given steak knives and had to use butter knives. They would leave bottles of wine unopened on our table without opening or pouring them--just dropping them off and leaving. Two of our tables received their apps before another of our tables had even ordered.
I understand it was a holiday but the overall experience was terrible and that's unfortunate because we were away from our families. They didn't even apologize or offer to comp us anything. Which you don't have to comp something, but apologizing and owning up to your own mistake is the bare minimum of what should be done. Will never be going there again.
Really like the vibe in this place and it is in a great location in DuPont Circle just off Connecticut Avenue. Bonus points for being open on Christmas Day. I had no intention of cooking.
xmas day, so perhaps a bit short staffed + not really fair to ding them on service. maybe chef was out too, so not fair to ding them on food? location is nice, ambience nothing special. can't blame that on xmas. salad was good, chicken parm not so much and overpriced. wife liked her fish. we might give it another chance...
Our server was terrific and the food excellent. The tiramisu with blueberry sauce was different but delicious!!
Great business lunch. Pizza was the choice for lunch and all truly enjoyed. Flavors of the pizza were very good. Best around. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Checked in, restaurant not particularly busy. Got a decent table. Service very spotty, not good at explaining menu at all. But food was good (not great). reasonable cost
Nice selection of pastas and pizzas, excellent salads. Really good, delicious food. Friendly service, convenient location.
Most beautiful servers I’ve seen in the United States in a really long time
Food was good and reasonably priced. Parking was made easy with a parking garage right next to the restaurant. Our waiter could have been more attentive concerning drinks but ok. Bartender was so busy during happy hour that when we arrived, dishes from prior customers were not cleaned off the bar area at a timely manner. Had to sit with dirty dishes for a while while waiting for our table.
Branzino was fantastic. Noise level on weekends a little higher but not ear splitting.
To be fair, it was a very busy night and the restaurant was clearly short of staff. To be critical, service was nearly non-existent, food was delivered late and cold (in one case, not at all - with a promise of "maybe in 10 minutes" while everyone else tried to wait), and there was little concern from management. In fact, our waiter completely disappeared after he took our dinner order and we had to track down help. We have enjoyed this venue several times before but we were totally disappointed for our group that we took there with high expectations.
From the food to the service to the value, the experience was just all around bad. The food was bland and tasteless, unless you get something with truffle oil, then they use the whole bottle and the dish is $30. Jumbo tv screens give it a sports bar feel if that's what you're looking for in an Italian restaurant. Waiters were not attentive and difficult to locate when trying to get the check. Bemused as to how this place has a 4.4 rating.
There weren’t many people there which was unusual. The food was OK
Day after Thanksgiving with family
I gave specific notes on our reservation, stating the number of people we have, that we are celebrating a birthday and that we have a baby. When we walked in, the table was not set for the correct number of people, they did not have a high chair per my request and they did nothing for my mothers birthday, even though we did order multiple desserts. Our server was nice but gave no introduction and we had to ask for more menus. Overall it was fine and the food was good, but due to the service and lack of care in delivery of service, I would not recommend this restaurant.
There were four of us and we ordered many different things. Every dish and drink was outstanding.
Great food! Great service and I will definitely be coming back in the near future. I will recommend this to my friends and family and I will visit there with them!
The food was good, but the service was disappointing. Once we were seated we sat for over 20 minutes before our waiter came to the table. It then took about 15 minutes to get my food after the rest of the table had gotten it already. As it turns out, my plate was sitting ready to be served but was not brought to table. There were 6 other groups in the restaurant so it was not busy at all.
Lowkey dog food
This was a very convenient place to take a client from a conference at the Washington Hilton. We had a very good meal, an excellent moderately priced bottle of wine, and very good service. The pasta dishes were very tasty and the portions ample. Our only complaint was the broccoli rabe which didn’t taste that great. The atmosphere was lively and casual which was a good fit for the purpose of our meal. We were too full to have dessert so can’t speak to that element of the menu.
We were rushed through our meal and never got a second glass of wine we ordered.
The food was good but the rush didn’t make it a very nice dining experience
We got bottomless mimosas, great deal, our server was amazing!
Food was average.
Still fantastic food!!
Lovely place. Server was great. Our lunches very fine. Wow, the ice cream!
Excellent food and a lovely place to meet sit outside and enjoy DC, but the service was poor. We had to work to get a waiter’s attention to order and to get our bill, but the food made it worth it. I would go there again.
Food was mediocre. We were three. Ordered chicken parmigiana, lamb shank and fettuccine bolognese. Service very slow. We chose this restaurant Basel on previous reviews and were disappointed.
Really lovely little Italian restaurant with excellent food and nice outdoor seating. I dropped them a star though because it was very un-Italian of them to not offer complimentary bread; my Greek/Italian fiancé was very disappointed by that. To get a bread basket to eat with the olive oil at the table costs extra. He also didn't like that they gave him a full sized spoon for his capuccino instead of a proper sized demitasse spoon.
Great place for Sunday brunch. Everything said their meal was great.
