Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores G-star and Emporium 2050.

We have been coming to Sette for years but haven't been for a while. We were reminded just how good it is. Three pizzas, a bottle of Sangiovese, and good friends made better by the relaxed atmosphere. We have to start going back!
Business lunch; my guest was late but staff was attentive throughout. Nice hot soup and pasta lunch on a cold day. During government shutdown; wasn't too busy. Probably different when the government is up and running.
Went here for restaurant week - great choices - the food is always very good! Will definitely be coming back!
Food was delicious, service was attentive and impeccable without being overbearing. Prices were extremely reasonable. Will definatly return.
Overall food was delicious and our party of 7 had a wonderful time. Various members had a part of their meal served 5+ minutes after others were served. This happened with each course of the meal. Even with that, we would go again. I’m guessing the kitchen is small? Better communication about delays would be appreciated. Did I mention how delicious everything was :)
This is a friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant with good wine and pasta. The service is always friendly and efficient.
The small plates are a great value with good flavors
Annual tradition of dining at Sette on January 1. We've always been pleased with out experience, but this year the food was outstanding.
Have eaten at this restaurant numerous times since moving to the area in 2013; NY's Eve dinner was a huge
disappointment; not only did the waiter 'disappear' once he had taken our order (he did appear to give us a check); the dish ordered had enough spinach on it to feed a family of 4....the kitchen couldn't spare another vegetable for variety?
Additionally, one service person said she would bring us a dessert menu, instead we got the original waiter w/a check.... I guess we weren't necessary to their busy evening plans.
But not to worry - we WILL NOT be going back, there are NUMEROUS other Italian restaurants in the DuPont circle area that have the same quality (and better) food and service.
Great spot for Italian near Dupont circle.
We went there for Christmas Eve dinner, the special menu was delicious
We had a fun family meal here between doing various Christmas activities- Botanical Gardens, Capital Christmas Tree, and Zoo Lights. The atmosphere is t great, but the food, service and location were perfect for our group of six.
I've eaten at Sette Osteria many times, as a conveniently located, well staffed, savory destination for affordable Italian cuisine in the middle of the city. The wait staff are marvelously attentive, the food is delicious and the noise level not too loud that we couldn't have a conversation. The only draw back is that the space is tightly packed with chairs and tables, so it's snug, but not what I would call comfortable, unless you get a table on the edges of the room with a cushioned seat.
Great business lunch. Pizza is one of DC Best!! Lunch was various pizza's and pastas! Staff is always on their game and always helpful.
My favorite place in DC. Great atmosphere, whether seated at the bar for happy hour, outside during warm weather, or enjoying pizza and wine near the oven inside.
Nice food. A bit on the expensive side. Ordered a drink but didn’t get it.
We go to Sette for our big company lunches a lot because they can accommodate groups easily and the menu is great. I love that they offer half size portions of their pastas. I got the one with smoked mozzarella, tomatoes and eggplant. Great bread baskets with warm foccacia and olive oil.
I've been here for brunch and dinner and I'm never disappointed. i do think it's a better dinner option versus brunch, but they have bottomless mimosas/bellinis/cider, so I'll return. Great option for Dupont versus some of the other spots nearby.
Yesterday the cannellonnis were over cook.
Food not memorable. Fish very small
A good Saturday evening experience. We were greeted at the desk and led to a table for two on a lively Saturday night. We shared a bottle of a house red wine. The calamari and zucchini fritti were done to perfection: crisp and tender, with a good marinara sauce for dipping. We each had a pasta, the penne all' arrabiata and the capellini with tomato and basil. Pastas were both al dente and the sauces flavorful. The service was attentive throughout the meal. An Italian digestivo capped a delightful evening. Prices have edged up over the last months, but this is still a good value. A favorite place for good food, good service, and good value.
Host acted arrogant and seated his friends before he seated us even though we were there first AND we had reservations
Everything was perfect! Service, food, overall environment - really outstanding!
Cheese platter is very bland. Nothing exciting. I had a reservation but cancelled it to go somewhere where the food would be better. Too many restaurants in DC to choose from to go somewhere that is mediocre.
Good experience, on a cold, damp night. A table for four was waiting for us in the bustling dining room. Eventually, we learned that the fourth member of our party could not join us. We ordered a bottle of the house Primitivo (Italian relative of Zinfandel) in lieu of cocktails. A nice, bracing red. We shared three appetizers: the calamari and zucchini fritti, the bruschetta (3 slices, each with a different topping), and the arancini and crochette assortment. It was a nice, diverse set of flavors and textures, all prepared well. The calamari had a fine, crunchy breading, but were tender and not at all over-cooked and rubbery. For a main, two of us tried pasta (fettucine alfredo and tonarelli cacio e pepe) both of which were al dente and well sauced, full of flavor. Our third person had the sword fish special, which came nicely seared and accompanied with apt sides. At the end, one of us ordered the tiramisu, light and flavorful. The two others enjoyed a digestivo to cap the meal. All in all, a night of good food and service in an energetic atmosphere.
My brother was in town for a visit and I wanted to take him someplace special for us to catch up and celebrate his recent birthday. This was the perfect spot! The pasta was homemade, as were the sauces. Seafood was fresh too! Wine was great! Too full for dessert. Truth be told, this was my second time here in less than an week - came here the weekend before which is when I discovered it. Excellent service, good prices and great food!
Horrible service. Never brought appetizer; brought a wrong meal and brought the same meat back just with a different side; slow to bring additional sauce requested; never apologized or acknowledged mistakes; there seem to be large language barriers; staff look unhappy.
The food was enjoyable, however, there was a mix up in the kitchen that allowed my friend with a severe gluten allergy to be served an entire bowl of glutenous pasta. This required that we leave our meal to go to the emergency room. The restaurant initially didn't understand this and wanted us to pay while we said we were on our way to the hospital. Luckily, after some convincing they were more understanding. While I understand that mistakes can happen, it was a fairly careless mistake that should never have happened and when someone describes their allergies they should taken seriously.
Love this place. It has an open atmosphere with lots of light, an outdoor area when the weather is nice, great food, great service, and the wine is a super value.
Had reservations and checked in on time with a surly, hassled hostess who wasn't ready to seat us yet. Our waiter was efficient but not particularly friendly. Hated the big screen tvs broadcasting CNN dominating the visual in the dining room. Food was good but nothing special. Too many other choices in DC to ever go back to this place.
Amazing food! We came two nights in a row. Delicious
Had a birthday dinner. Everything the server recommended we ordered (wine, entrees, dessert), all were delicious. Definitely recommend!
Stopped in for the dessert one night. It was so good I returned for dinner the next day.
One of my new favorite spots in DC!
Went there for brunch. We called and asked if they could put our two parties together multiple times and they said that was fine. When we got there they said the note on the reservation was that we asked to be seated outside - which was never mentioned. The food was not that good. It was a good deal for bottomless mimosas. Our waiter was really nice, but after a while, the people who were filling up the mimosas stopped really coming around, even though there was like no one else in the restaurant. That was why we were there - so we had to start going up to the bar and asking ourselves. They would tell us they'll come around to fill it up and take forever or forget to come. Overall would not recommend.
Great service! Great food! Will be back!
Had a wonderful meal. The food was very good, and the service was amazing. We missed our reservation by an hour and they were able to accommodate. We will be return customers.
Great, traditional Italian food and wine. Super outdoor seating area. Consistently good service and very quality.
We were in DC for the weekend - and found this place to be a great value for brunch. The food was great and the staff really friendly.
A reliable neighborhood treasure, especially when the weather allows for outdoor seating- a great urban people-watching site. Food is consistently excellent, service firendly and efficient.
The pasta dishes were varied and delicious. It's hard to pass up homemade pasta and they did not disappoint. The wine list wasvaried
