We've been making kimchi and sauerkraut as Kraut Pleasers since June 2015. After searching for a better way to share our kimchi we explored ramen and udon noodle bowls. Serving them all winter at our Little Winter Market we then opened in the spring of 2017 as Setsunai Noodle Bar using our fermenting kitchen as the base. We’ve now moved the fermentation side of things over to our local shared access community kitchen, Taproot. We are in the heart of the village with plenty of parking and a local beach within site. We serve our bowls with both traditional Kimchi and Golden Napa for you spice wimps. We have dumplings with seasonal fillings and kid bowls with just noodles and broth.

Locally sourced and organic as much as is available, broths from scratch, noodles from scratch, best food on the island!

This place is not to be missed while on Lopez. Totally from scratch bone broth for the Ramen. Truly amazing flavors in both dishes we had - the smoked chicken in the ramen was life-changing. Homemade kimchi is the best I’ve ever had - again, nailed it on the flavors - not overly spiced. Very tiny spot with plenty of seating outside, a lot of care is put into each dish, so it can take time for your food to be made. Definitely recommend making a reservation. Options for those with dietary restrictions.

This was my favorite meal on Lopez Island! We had the ramen, and it was awesome--amazing smoked pork, noodles, buttery greens, and kimchi that I will definitely be buying in bulk if he ever gets back to selling it! Owner was really friendly and personal with customers (even us tourists), despite being a one-man show. I'll definitely be designing some future SJ trips around his restaurant hours.

Tiny indoor restaurant with a huge outdoor seating area with heaters.
we sat at the bar and watched as Josh the owner/chef made our noodles fresh for our udon and ramen.
Best udon noodle soup I've ever had. Perfect little gem in Lopez Island Village
