This place is a true gem. It transports you to a wholly other place. The food was good, but the service and ambience are what make this place truly special and memorable. There is still some construction, but it was nice that the menu had a full page insert telling you exactly what the plan was for the restaurant and what it would look like when fully finished. Our waitress, Brittany, was so personable and welcoming. If you like BYOB places, as we do, then that just adds to the charm of this place. My husband ordered afghan specialties and I the more French-inspired food and all of it was quite good. We will absolutely go back next time we are in Atlantic City.
Loved it 💖 the food, staff and energy were great !
The flowers were amazing 💞can’t wait to go back 🌞
The restaurant was beautiful, staff friendly and the food was amazing! We will definitely be back!
Highly recommend for the food and lovely atmosphere.
This place is gorgeous. the servers were very attentive and this establishment genuinely want you to enjoy their food and ambience.
Authentic spices and rich flavors with an "in-progress" interior design that completely transports you away from the city you are in to a foreign atmosphere. Amazing. We sat in the outdoor seating.. spectacular. They are working on a rooftop and finishing walls with tiles but have tapestry and some tiling with a beautiful interior arched courtyard with lots of plants and some songbirds. Food flavors were amazing and authentic. The french dishes are "fusion" also, with french style dishes served with some twists for more flavor. Well worth it.
Celebrated my brother-in-law’s birthday. Food is as usual excellent. Great service.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! Something different to try, definitely a hidden gem.
atmosphere 1000!! such a cool spot! Not being familiar w/ this Afghan French cuisine it was a very interesting dining experience. a hidden gem in AC NJ
We were seated (2, plus a baby) at a VERY small table. We didn’t have room enough to eat from full sized plates. Other than that, I love this place.
Amazing! Totally recommend for date night, gathering of friends or girls night.
Food was excellent, atmosphere was perfect and service was exceptional.
We brought our own birthday cake and they were so helpful and accommodating.
Can’t wait to return.
Late Anniversary Dinner. It was worth the wait. Setaara,… you did not disappoint! Everything from the Waitstaff, Atmosphere, Appetizers,….. to the dessert was Amazing (We loved your moms Firni recipe) Thank you! 🥘 We will be back & we can’t wait to see the new renovations. ❤️
Our group of 5 had an early reservation. We were shunted to a dark corner of the patio with bare studs and plywood as the backdrop for our photos. We were denied any other table in the nearly empty restaurant.
The waitress then busied herself in other areas and chatted with another waiter while we waited to place our orders. The busboy, however, was attentive throughout the meal.
Two of us ordered the special dish, quabili Palau, which consisted of a tiny amount of dry, tasteless chicken breast meat and the identical tasteless yellow rice that covered all our dishes. It was inappropriately served with little dishes of Mexican tomato salsa and jalapeño salsa - to help cover the plate of an otherwise meager dinner.
The entrees include a cup of soup and bread. The 5 of us had to share one half of a small loaf with a tough bottom crust that the kitchen did not bother to cut through.
There is only one unisex bathroom. The beautiful patio does not compensate for the poor cuisine.
In terms of construction and design, Setaara is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle, with several small rooms and one large courtyard, connected by narrow walkways covered in mats, rugs, rubber runners. Both charming and kind of grungy. The service was very attentive and pleasant, but the food was a bit of a disappointment. Bland!! Good-sized portions, but very little flavor. We got the dumplings and the lamb shank with rice and if they hadn't been accompanied by a few mildly spicy sauces on the side, they'd have had no flavor at all. And the meal began with minestrone soup (an odd choice for an Afghan restaurant) which was equally tasteless. These folks need to kick it up a notch. Buy some spices and use them! Finally, the prices are high. The average entree price is $30-$35. That's a lot of money for kebabs!
Delicious food, large portions and nice staff. The place is beautiful, get a table outside or upstairs if it's available.
Great service! Food delicious! Tried the Silk Road lamb shank, tender and juicy. My guests ordered the kabobs which were outstanding. Hospitality was great, you don’t see much of it anymore. On my list of frequent restaurants
Makes you feel you traveled for few hours to a different world.
And the courtyard is very beautiful
Such an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!the food was delicious and the atmosphere was stunning. Cannot wait to return sooner than later.
Reservations: we were seated on time.
Service: servers were timely to provide menu, provide list of specials and time to consider appetizers vs the meal. Updates on status and limit to number of the daily specials available.
Food: well seasoned. Low salt. Healthy.
Location: we sat outside directly in the open central garden area. Live caged birds provide musical accompaniment to the selection of songs heard during the meal. The garden filled with plants of many kinds including palms, hibiscus and hanging plants made the area an oasis in middle of downtown.
Parking: Labor Day weekend. Difficult finding it. Only street parking available nearby.
Reservations were smooth service was excellent. Food was an experience. Never having Afghan food our expectations were nil. So here was our comments. The appetizers were to our taste somewhat bland. One of them had a jalopena sauce and coming from Tx we were glad because I it needed a kick. The carrot cashew soup was good but here again no distinct taste. E trees were excellent the braised lamb shanks with rice was excellent. The rack of lamb was also tasty and the third entree were the chicken/beef Kabobs were somewhat lackluster. Now I was the only one that had dessert and I loved the ice cream with cardamom and pistachio and rose water. Now this was a real flavor treat that I had never had before. So all in all we had a lovely evening. The kabobs were billed as spice road. I think we associated spice with heat as it does in. Any dishes to include Indian. That’s our assumption that was wrong we would definitely come back because we are a little better informed.
The atmosphere and lighting is very nice! They are doing improvements, it will be fabulous when finished. Request a table along the railing of the courtyard.
Great variety and unusual preparations- the waiter explained the items . All tasted great. Portion sizes on the apps are small
The food, service and ambience were all excellent! This is a must try restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Third time to Setaara and we continue to love it! Food is delicious and the setting is unique and special.
The aesthetic was beautiful! We loved our low table seating where we sat on cushioned seats on the floor. Now the food was downright amazing. It was absolutely delicious and I would love to come back again to try other dishes on the menu. Our server was outstanding and very attentive. A must-visit in AC for a lovely dinner.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The place was beautiful. Can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished!
Wonderful experience. Service, ambiance and food were wonderful we sat outside. The only issue was that the tables outside are very close together they are building a third level outside, which may help with spreading the tables a bit. Large space inside hopefully when the pandemic runs it's course, they will be able to spread out the tables outside a bit.
All around great experience
Service was exceptional
When you walk in you’re led into a hallway that goes through a dirty kitchen area. Once you get though that area you’re led into an area where the walls are not finished and you have to walk three flights of stairs. Food was very over priced. You’re going to pay at least $30 for dried out chicken and beef kabobs. We sat next to a lady that screamed about COVID the entire time. Not a good experience I would never go again or recommend anyone else to try this restaurant.
Not worth it ……over priced I didn’t enjoy it ….wasn’t good experience the food was not great no flavor presentation poor for the price of it
Fantastic place, can't wait to come back. Might be our new favorite spot.
Even though it’s obviously still a work in progress, it’s stunning already and a wonderful evening out - great food, great place & lovely memories
My husband and I had a reservation for 8pm on Thursday 8/26. The ambience was beautiful, very unique however that’s the Extent to the pros about this establishment. For starters, we were sat in a dimmed area, the light fixture was apparently broken. In addition, there was no cooling system or fan in an extremely humid evening. Furthermore, the already limited menu had items that I was interested they were out of. We eventually order from what the options Were available. My witness was kind and very attentive however, after an hour and 20 mins we still didn’t receive our food. The table next to us however came after us but ate and packed their to-go containers before we were served. We finally received our food after waiting an hour and a half. The food was extremely underwhelming. My husbands soup was lukewarm, my salad was iceberg lettuce with carrots on top, my lamb dish was okay however my husband’s creamy shrimp dish left so much to be desired. His baby carrots were smoothed in puréed tomato sauce that he stated tasted and smelled like baby food. To top it off the check was $100. For a “fine dining experience “ we were beyond disappointed with the entire experience.
We have eaten hear several times and always look forward to the next time
Construction for expansion has the ambiance in transition. Its going to be beautiful when finished
Wonderful dining experience. Food and service fantastic
Enchanting setting that you would never know from the street. Food was unique, well prepared. Service was very good, informational, good recommendations. We had all of the appetizers at out table, and there were several standouts and no disappointments. Kabobs and special chicken (name escapes me) were fantastic! Don't miss desserts - baklava & afghan rice pudding
Hamid our server was amazing. The food is excellent and the ambiance is like none other. Cannot wait to go back once they are done with the courtyard renovations.
Amazing vibe and incredible food. Truly the most unique dining experience at the Jersey Shore. So great to see an immigrant and family-owned business investing in the community. We’ll be back!
